~$22,900 I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car will be for sale locally for the same price. If you have any questions I can be reached at (6l9)..288..6O12.

~A little about the model.... The RSK-718 followed the class winning 550. In 1957 the factory, the factory decided that the 550 Spyder had reached 100% potential. The new car was called the RSK. RS for Rennsport and K for shape of the front suspension. The type 718 was born. Only about 16 of these cars were ever built and 4 of which were the factory race cars. The last two pics in my ad are of real RSK's with a price tag of over $3.25 million!

~This is a beautiful 1957-1959 Porsche Spyder RSK-718. Its a very high quality replica. Built 1835cc backed by a 4 speed transmission. 2,000 miles on the entire car and driveline since built in 2000. Clean and clear title. Fully street legal with current plates and registration.

~The body and paint are gorgeous! Laser straight with a very nice fit and finish. Its done its the factory silver color with blood red leather interior. Its was built on a completely rust free, California, 1969 VW pan and also titled as one.

~The car is and absolute blast to drive! Engine fires right up, sounds great and is Faster Than Hell!  Transmission shifts smooth. Brakes are good. Interior looks brand new. The car is running the factory style race exhaust now but It also comes with a more street friendly short exhaust. I also have a tow bar that comes with car. If you want something that no body else has this is it! It draws a crowd everywhere and attracts tons of attention.

~Specs: The engine uses only the following OEM VW parts: crankcase, strengthened and with 3/8" studs; flywheel, pushrods, tubes and rockers. That's it. All the rest are aftermarket stuff bought new: DeMello counterweighted crank, Mahle 92mm (1835cc) cylinders and pistons; CB Performance 044 heads (3/4" spark plugs, large stainless steel valves and high quality valve springs), solid rocker arm shafts; billet valve covers, Engle 110 cam, a mild torque grind profile; dual Solex single throat carburetors with K&N filters; 12v electric fuel pump; aluminum flywheel pulley; new Bosch starter and alternator; Melling cast iron, high volume oil pump; CB Performance stainless steel reusable oil filter. I had the engine assembled in a shop that builds Baja racers in SoCal. It is built for torque, not high rpm horsepower which can often be a nuisance in street driving.

The transaxle was rebuilt by Transform in SoCal and has a Super Diff differential gear set, a close ration 4th gear and a taller overall gear ratio of 3.44 vs an OEM Bug having 3.89. The overall gearing allows the car to cruise at 75mph at 3000 rpm. It is a very quick car, not a Corvette beater but still very fast!
Suspension new all around. Front brakes are Porsche 11" discs, Rear brakes are OEM drums. Shock absorbers were new at the time of construction, as were the wheels and Dunlop 15" radial tires. The car is kept indoors and has a custom-made, all weather cover, which serves as a sun cover when the car is parked on a daytime outing. It has full lights.

~TERMS OF SALE - non refundable $1,000 deposit due 24 hours after auction ends. Car needs to be paid for in full within 3 days. I will do everything I can to make this a pleasant buying experience. Shipping is buyer's responsibility but I will be happy to assist if you like. Usually $300-$1200 door to door C.O.D. anywhere in the US. International buyers welcome. I can have the car transported to Los Angeles for overseas buyers. I encourage anybody who is interested to come look for themselves or send somebody. I live in San Diego and would be more than happy to pick you up at the airport to view the car in person. I do my best to represent and describe things honestly, accurately and to the best of my knowledge but at the end of the day this is still a classic car. This vehicle is being sold as-is, where is, with no warranty expressed written, or implied. 2013 Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale gets its groove, seats back

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

The Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale was exclusively a two-seater, but here in Geneva, the big Italian coupe gets its rear thrones back. We don't know if the addition of rear passenger space will help improve sales of this special trim of the aging GT, but it's at the very least an excuse for Maserati to shine a few lights on its gorgeous two-door.
Under that rakish carbon fiber bonnet is the same Ferrari-sourced 4.7-liter V8 we've loved for years now, tuned to 460 horsepower in this application and mated to Maserati's MC Race Shift six-speed automatic transmission. Other updates for the MC Stradale include new 20-inch alloy wheels and a smattering of new materials inside the cabin.
Yes, it feels like we write about some version of the GranTurismo every time we attend the Geneva Motor Show, but this car still tickles our fancy each and every time. Scroll down for the press blast and check out the four-seater for yourself in the high-resolution gallery.

1967 Maserati Ghibli puts the grand in grand tourer

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

Motor Tend technical director Frank Markus owns a 1967 Maserati Ghibli, bought back in the early 2000s when "they could be had for Camry money" - now Hagerty values them anywhere from $63,000 to $107,000. The grand tourer designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro outsold the more powerful and less expensive Ferrari 365 Daytona, and the more powerful and more expensive Lamborghini Miura.
Carlos Lago, host of the magazine's Ignition video series, figures it's because of the Ghibli's long-haul comfort and the tractability of its 4.7-liter V8 with 330-horsepower and 330 pound-feet accessed with a five-speed manual, even though he cites the powertrain and suspension as being behind the times.
There's no arguing about the Ghibli's sound, though. You can get several ears-full of it, as well as Lagos' and Markus' thoughts on the car, in the video above.

Little Red Racing Car Kickstarter project a father/son affair [w/video]

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

Tales of fathers and sons, whether told for adults or for children, never go out of style. It's appropriate then that The Little Red Racing Car, a story about a father and son finding and restoring a 1955 Maserati 300S, is such a stylish piece of work.
Author Dwight Knowlton first started working on The Little Red Racing Car when, after his son was born, he "went looking for the perfect Father/Son/Car book" and couldn't find one. Knowlton's artwork in has been influenced heavily by vintage automotive advertising and Grand Prix posters, and has a very clean, art deco vibe as a result.
Of course, TLRRC is still just a work in progress. Knowlton is hoping the Kickstarter community will help to get the ball rolling, and raise $25,000 to the book printed and distributed. The author even has a stretch goal to have the whole shebang made into and animated film - we love big dreams. Follow on below to hear Knowlton's pitch in his own words, or jump over to his Kickstarter page to look further or buy-in.
