Chuck Beck is known around the world for his high-quality Porsche reproductions. They are built to a standard of no other reproduction vehicles. This is not a kit car, but a hand built reproduction of the famous 1955 Porsche Spyder, made famous by James Dean. The quality of the materials, components, and assembly speaks for itself.

This particular car is a 2650 original mile Beck 550 Spyder. Silver-blue with red leather interior and matching red floor mats.Tubular frame chassis with a flat 4 engine with dual Weber carbs mated to a 4 speed transmission with 4 wheel disc. The power to weight ratio on these is amazing. If you have never driven one, they are a BLAST! Car comes with a cold weather package of a black soft top and matching side curtains. Original style banjo steering wheel, shift knob, leather straps for the engine cover and original style Porsche badges. Titled as a 1955 Porsche, this VERY low mileage masterpiece is ready for your driving pleasure.

Car is in fantastic condition and always garaged, panels line up great and color looks great and is not blotchy as some silvers can be. I have driven the car and it is in need of not one thing. Considering a real one trades at over 1 MIL for the price you can’t find a better way to have fun. With a few updates you can have this car looking dead on as an original. Doing a wide five wheel update makes it look like a million bucks with not much effort.

It has a few paint issues from normal use. You have some hair line scratches on the top of the front left fender, can polish out not below the clear. You have a 1/4 inch scratch on the driver’s door and a small dot chip behind the right rear wheel and that's all I can find.

Shipping can be arranged world wide.

Thanks for looking and good luck !

Ram/Jeep Ecodiesel engine has Maserati roots

Sun, 16 Mar 2014

The 3.0L turbodiesel V6 in the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel earned a slot on Ward's Automotive 2014 10 Best Engines for its power, fuel economy and refinement. In a piece looking at how Fiat subsidiary VM Motor developed the engine, Ward's also makes note of the fact that the same lump goes in diesel versions of the Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli. They're tuned a bit differently, naturally, with the QP putting out 275 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, the smaller, lighter Ghibli making do with the same number of horses but a lower torque output of 420 lb-ft.
The 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet put out by the oil-burning six-cylinder in the Ram was tamed with a host of advances, but it appears that Ram hasn't tamed demand: the initial allocation of 8,000 engines was spoken for within three days of the truck going on sale. Head over to Ward's to read the story of how Ram worked out the equation light-duty-pickup + diesel = success.

Alfa Romeo 8C, Maserati Quattroporte and Granturismo models recalled over rust fears

Mon, 20 May 2013

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced Maserati and Alfa Romeo are recalling certain Quattroporte, Granturismo and 8C models over potentially faulty tie rod ends. According to NHTSA, 2005-2008 Quattroporte, 2008 Granturismo and 2008 8C units may have been assembled with tie rod ends that have insufficient corrosion protection. As such, the components may rust, weaken and potentially fail. If that happens, the driver could lose control of the vehicle and cause an accident.
Maserati and Alfa Romeo will contact owners and replace the tie rod end assemblies once the recall gets underway in June. All told, 7,438 vehicles are impacted by the recall. You can read the full NHTSA notice below for more information.

2013 Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale gets its groove, seats back

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

The Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale was exclusively a two-seater, but here in Geneva, the big Italian coupe gets its rear thrones back. We don't know if the addition of rear passenger space will help improve sales of this special trim of the aging GT, but it's at the very least an excuse for Maserati to shine a few lights on its gorgeous two-door.
Under that rakish carbon fiber bonnet is the same Ferrari-sourced 4.7-liter V8 we've loved for years now, tuned to 460 horsepower in this application and mated to Maserati's MC Race Shift six-speed automatic transmission. Other updates for the MC Stradale include new 20-inch alloy wheels and a smattering of new materials inside the cabin.
Yes, it feels like we write about some version of the GranTurismo every time we attend the Geneva Motor Show, but this car still tickles our fancy each and every time. Scroll down for the press blast and check out the four-seater for yourself in the high-resolution gallery.
