This is a street-legal, 1971 MGB Roadster which has been professionally modified for use a a multi-purpose event car.  The vehicle carries a current California registration, with a clear title in my name.  While this car has not been restored to factory specifications, it has received numerous improvements which make it an extremely usable and enjoyable sports/racing car.  Originally restored in 1999, it then benefited from the following: Professionally fabricated roll cage, integrated with the vehicle unibody and frame.  Professionally fabricated aluminum dash, incorporating Autometer gauges (Speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltmeter, exhaust temperature, fuel).  Also added were a Fuel Safe racing cell (with steel braided fuel lines), an Accusump oil system, Jamex racing seats, 5-point harnesses, Torsen-Gleason positraction rear end (3:9 gears), panhard rear suspension bar, lowered springs front and rear with gas tube shocks, 3/4" front anti-roll bar, rear disc brakes (280ZX), a 280Z-sourced 5-speed transmission, and a high-performance racing engine with cross-flow head.

Since I purchased the car, in 2005, I have replaced the engine with a milder street engine, with a performance cam and Weber 45 DCOE and header (now runs great on 91-octane unleaded).  I have retained the previously-installed Electromotive crank-fire ignition, however I have added a Ron Davis aluminum radiator with an electric fan.  All fuel and oil lines are steel-braided.  I have added Moss (DBA) performance slotted and drilled front discs running Hawk brake pads.  I updated the 5-point harnesses with RJS items when the car was painted. I installed Superlite 15x6 wheels; with the Lilves flares, it would be easy to replace these with wider wheels, if desired.

The bad:  When I had the car repainted in Lotus British Racing Green about 2 years ago, the paint subsequently developed a couple of problem areas, where there is some bubbling underneath.  It has not deteriorated further, and should not detract for someone looking for an event-type car.  Obviously, this would be a problem for someone looking for a show car (having said that, the car has received several places in local shows, so it is still more than presentable).  The fuel gauge does not work - probably needs a new sending unit, I haven't have time to check.  There is a deep scratch where the hood/drivers' fender meets - a hood prop fell shortly after new paint job!(see pictures)  There is a dark line across the rear panel where the hardop fits; it may buff out, I have not tried(see pictures). The tires (BFGoodrich G-Force KD) are still usable, but will need replaced in the near future - as previously stated, this is an event car!

The good:  This is a great car to drive, runs terrifically well and handles better than many modern cars.  With the cooling improvements, the engine stays in the proper temperature range, even in the central California summer heat. The 5-speed makes it useable on the freeway; it will cruise at 70-75mph, no problem.  If you enjoy true sports machines, and would like something which you may use for track days, rallies, or just going for a Sunday blast, this may be your car.  No modern car can duplicate the immediacy and focussed feel this MGB offers.  Also included is a fully restored factory hardtop in Old English White.  It looks superb with the top in place!  Much time and money has been spent to enable this MG to perform extremely well, while being as safe and reliable as possible.

Disclosures:  This is a 40-plus year old car; it will require maintenance and care!  The odometer was replaced during the 1999 rebuild; the miles are presumed to be accurate subsequent to that rebuild.

Payment arrangements: Successful bidder will pay a 10% deposit via Paypal within 48hrs of auction ending.  Payment in full for remaining balance by a US bank cashier's check must be made payable to me before the title will be transferred.  All taxes and transfer fees are the responsibility of the buyer.

Pre-inspection:  If you desire a pre-inspection, contact me to make suitable arrangements.

Shipping/transportation:  Any shipping arrangements and fees are the responsibility of the buyer.  I will make the car, with appropriate documents, available for shipping after successful bidder has paid in full.
