1969 Lotus Elan Plus 2 Coupe NO RESERVE AUCTION PLEASE LOOK AT THE 150+ DETAILED PICTURES SCROLLING AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS AUCTION FOR DETAILS.
This 1969 Lotus Elan S2 Coupe was purchased by a local Nashville Tennessee Vintage Racer and machine shop owner in 1991 from a fellow Vintage Racer from Atlanta Georgia. Shortly after his purchase of the car he disassembled the car for an allover repaint changing the color from the original yellow to British Racing Green. As is typically the case with “Body Shop Jail” the car sat at the body shop for almost 2 years before the paint job was completed and returned to the owner. By that time his interest in this car had lessened as he was involved with work on several of his other cars. For that reason this car was put on the “Way Back” burner and parked in storage since that time. The body on the car is in excellent condition with NO evidence of any accident damage. The new 20+ years ago paint job was probably nice back then however it now is average at best. The hood and trunk-lid are both in excellent condition. The original doors are very nice and will fit the car properly when properly adjusted. The power window motors and side glass are all complete and still in the doors along with the wiring. The unique and hard to find chrome window frames are in excellent condition. The door handles are missing. The front windshield is excellent along with an excellent original rear back glass. The front wiper arms are missing. The front headlights are complete and have the correct hideaway headlight actuators with the car. The front parking lights and lens are complete along with the original taillights. The front and rear bumpers are missing and not with the car. All the original weather-stripping is with the car and in poor condition. There is a bag with some new weather-stripping included with the car. Mechanically this car is MISSING THE ORIGINAL ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION! That’s right NO ENGINE AND NO TRANSMISSION! The original drive shaft and complete suspension is still in the car. The original engine and transmission now reside in a Vintage Race car owned by another person. The previous owner installed them in one of his Vintage Race cars and ultimately sold that car to another racer. The chassis under the car is the original chassis with the correct VIN number stamped in the chassis. The chassis is in excellent condition and is complete with all suspension components, brakes, six (6) original Lotus knock-off wheels and more. The original VIN tag is on the car along with the original DATA Tag on the inner fender. The power brake booster is off the car but is included with the car. This car was equipped with Air Conditioning. The A/C unit, some of the hoses, drier and A/C compressor are included with the car. The interior on the car is mostly complete however there are still missing parts. The original steering wheel is in excellent condition. The original seats and seat covers are in nice condition. I only have one door panel (driver’s side). The dash is totally complete with the original Speedometer, Tachometer and all the original switches and controls. The original wood dash is in nice condition. The center console is in nice condition. The rear seats are in nice condition. The rear sail panel and original rear package tray are included with the car. I have all the original carpet for the car, the side trim for the console and front floor. The original white headliner is still in the car. Also included will be an original Lotus Elan assembly manual and the supposedly original tool set provided with the car when new. This car is MISSING PARTS AND IS NOT COMPLETE. I have taken VERY DETAILED PICTURES OF ALL THE PARTS that go with the car. IF a part is not bolted on the car as shown in pictures OR not shown in the detailed pictures of parts I have included I DO NOT HAVE THAT PART! Rather than play “20 questions” concerning what parts are here and what parts are missing PLEASE LOOK CAREFULLY AT THE DETAILED PICTURES to determine what is there and what is missing. If you are looking at this car you probably are a Lotus enthusiast and already know what you are looking at. If you have questions concerning the CONDITION OF ITEMS or the PROVENANCE of this Lotus Elan Plus 2 please call me anytime at 615 347 7459 to discuss. IF YOU QUESTIONS CALL ME! Lotus Evora 'Sports Racer' is oddly named and fully loaded
Thu, 20 Dec 2012Lotus has just announced a new Evora 'Sports Racer' model that is, well, frankly not much more sporty or racy than the standard Evora or Evora S. Instead, the British company calls the Sports Racer a "visually enhanced and optimized version" of both the Evora and supercharged Evora S. To unpack that a little: The new trim will get a new set of unique exterior colors and a revised interior treatment, and it's fully decked out with options.
The 'Sports Racer' will be available in the buyer's choice of Carbon Grey, Nightfall Blue and the Ardent Red that you see in the image above (the only image we've seen of the car so far). Gloss black accents set the model apart and can be seen on the roof, forged wheels, mirrors and rear badges. Inside, one may choose between black-leather sports seats with red piping and stitching, or a Venom Red leather interior with black piping and stitching. How naughty.
In terms of tech, the 'Sports Racer' gets Lotus' Sports Pack and its remapped throttle response, higher redline, more powerful cross-drilled brakes and a more aggressively programmed Dynamic Performance Management system. The stereo system is also upgraded from the basic Evora, with a DVD player and seven-inch touchscreen display thrown in for good measure.
Watch the Lotus Esprit evolve from 1976 to 2004
Tue, 21 Jan 2014Seeing a model as long-lived as the Lotus Esprit evolve over time generally requires some clever photography or graphical work, kind of like this. This video doesn't require any of that trickery, though, because it features every single model year of Espirt in one glorious row of awesome British cars.
Taken at the 2013 Lotus Festival at Brands Hatch in the UK, it features Esprits from 1976 all the way to its last model year in 2004. It really puts into perspective the slow evolution of the mid-engined, wedge-shaped Lotus, as it went from a very 1970s design to something decidedly more modern.
We've got the full video below, which starts with a red 1976 model, travels down the line to a silver 2004 Esprit, and then all the way back to the original. Take a look, and let us know what you think.
Recap: 2013 Australian Formula One Grand Prix is all about the rubber [w/spoilers]
Sun, 17 Mar 2013A pre-season full of talking points was swapped for a brand-new set of talking points after the running of the opening grand prix of the 2013 Formula One season. The consistency of the regulations from last year to this year and the triplicate dominance of Infiniti Red Bull Racing meant that no one would have been that surprised if the relative order of things remained the same. But teams found so many ways to switch things up that, in typical pre-season fashion, no one was ready to make any bets on in-season performance, and a couple of surprising players suffered the ignominy of getting it really wrong: McLaren knew it was in trouble from the very first test, while Williams drivers applauded their car as the best in years, only to have Pastor Maldonado call it "undriveable" on the very first day of practice in Melbourne.
And then there were those Pirellis, the Italian company talking up the fact that its super soft tires would only go off so quickly that it would force teams to pit at least twice during the race.
Even then, no one could have seen the first round of pit stops beginning on Lap 5.
