If you are looking for an exotic sports car for a less than exotic sports car price tag, this is the one! I bought this car for my husband last October after many years of him dreaming of owning one. We had been looking for several years, and when I ran across this one, it had everything we wanted and I felt it was an even better deal than the 30-35k we were planning on spending previously. This car has been nothing but fun since the day it arrived, but sadly, it sits in the garage 95% of the time. We are a family with 3 young girls, we own 3 other vehicles, and the only time this one sees the light of day is on an occasional Sunday drive. My husband initially wanted a lotus as his daily driver on his 1 hour commute to and from work, but soon realized he would prefer his automatic in rush hour traffic every day. I will say, though, that there is nothing like it on the road! People look at us as if we are driving a spaceship! Everywhere we go, people stop us for pictures, and we often come out of the store to find a crowd around it. It's quite entertaining and fun! We have owned several exotic sports cars, and this one, by far, gets way more attention than anything else we've had.
Basically, what you see is what you get. The car currently has about 58,000 miles, has been garage kept, and is in excellent condition both mechanically and physically. Ohlin adjustable front and back, a $3,500 upgrade, rear diffuser upgraded exhaust, new tires, new clutch, new brake pads, new battery. The car had a full custom paint job right before we purchased it, as well as new LOTUS badges front and back. The car is ready to drive around town or take to the track! Of course, this car was built to race but the AC works wonderfully. Mechanically, there is nothing at all wrong with the car that we are aware of. It has driven like a dream the entire time we have owned it. It's FAST and fun! The exterior has a few (maybe 2-3) very small rock "chips" on the lower side panels below the doors. You honestly wouldn't notice them unless you were inspecting. The cloth top is in good condition and operates as intended with no issues. The interior is in good condition, but does show some minimal wear on the seats. As most people who are familiar with an Elise know, there aren't a lot of bells and whistles on the inside… as it is built as a race car. It does have an upgraded stereo system/CD player. There is a small crack on the dash that has been glued, and isn't very noticeable, but I will include photos so you have an idea. Lotus C-01 motorcycle rumored to get 200-hp V-twin engine
Sun, 12 Jan 2014Back in June, Lotus announced it was getting into the motorcycle business. Or, we should say, Kodewa and the Holzer Group are getting into the motorcycle business, and have acquired the rights to use the Lotus name. One way or another, we're now receiving word on some of the specs we can expect from the prototype dubbed C-01.
The Lotus motorcycle is being designed by Daniel Simon, the automotive futurist who has penned, among other things, the light-cycles for Tron: Legacy and the livery on the LMP2 racer Kodewa also fields under the Lotus name. So you know it's going to look pretty awesome, but what will make it go?
According to Visor Down, the C-01 is being tested with a V-twin engine sourced from an undisclosed supplier that produces 170 horsepower in stock trim but has been tuned to produce nearly 200 hp in Lotus trim. A pair of prototypes - one with carbon-fiber bodywork and one without - have already undergone several thousand kilometers of testing, and are said to be handling "very well."
Lotus getting into the motorcycle business
Fri, 21 Jun 2013Lotus founder Colin Chapman is famously quoted as saying something to the effect of "Simplify, then add lightness." We're a bit amazed that it took this long, but someone appears to be taking that message to heart at the British marque, losing a couple of wheels, a clutter of bodywork and a whole mess of weight. No, Lotus isn't planning another spindly Seven-style trackday racer, it's getting into motorcycles.
Well, sort of. As an automaker, Lotus apparently isn't directly behind this two-wheeled effort, but it does appear to have officially lent its brand and logo to a new company, Lotus Motorcycles, which counts former Volkswagen Group designer Daniel Simon, Germany's Holzer Group and auto racing team Kodewa among its partners. The latter builds and races Lotus' T128 Le Mans Prototype in the World Endurance Championship series.
The new company is touting an as-yet unseen motorcycle, a racing-inspired "hyper bike" called C-01, releasing only the image above - a carbon fiber fuel tank trimmed in Lotus' trademark black and gold livery. Details are tough to come by, but the project is said to include a powertrain good for around 200 horsepower and construction involving titanium, carbon fiber and aerospace-grade steel.
Lotus offers Exige S Roadster for sale, but not in North America
Thu, 23 May 2013The first thing you need to know is that this is the Lotus Exige S Roadster, unchanged from the Exige S even in price and officially the fastest convertible Lotus has ever made. The second thing you need to know is that if you live in the US, you won't be getting this car.
Now that that's out of the way, the lack of a roof, rear wing and front splitter help make it 22 pounds lighter than the coupe, coming in a 2,565 pounds, and the supercharged 3.5-liter V6 in this topless blossom discharges 345 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. For historical comparison with a non-convertible, those numbers nearly match the 2004 Lotus Esprit V8 Final Run edition - which had twin Garrett turbochargers. Yet the Exige S gets from a stoplight to 60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds, nearly a full second quicker than that Esprit. Fair play, though, the Esprit did weigh 3,040 pounds.
It will be fitted with a six-speed manual only, and cost 52,900 pounds ($79,667 US), 55,378 euros ($71,404 US) or 8,500,000 yen ($82,078 US), depending on where you live.
