2005 Lotus Elise on 2040-cars
Smith River, California, United States
More infos regarding my cat at: euna.shey@mail-on.us . Selling my 2005 Lotus Elise, Saffron Yellow, Touring Package, original owner, bought new September 2004 from Fox
Valley Motors in Illinios, one of the first in the US (has antenna block off plug in trunk lid, a remnant of
Eurospec models, later cars do not have this) 56,420 mostly highway miles. It's been to most of the states and
Canada, a couple of track days, a few autocross days, car shows, scenic drives, and half a dozen LOG's (Lotus
Owners Gatherings). New tires (less than 2500 miles) Continental ControlContact Sport (which are not as sticky as
the original Yokohamas but much quieter and less harsh), aluminum radiator, oil coolers with oil line service, body
color center shifter cover with shift lever service, yellow painted calipers. Most service done by Fox Valley Lotus
in IL, Sports and Specialist Lotus in Princeton NJ, and San Francisco Lotus in CA. Touring package includes power
windows, power door locks, remote locking (with two fobs), alarm, leather with cloth seats, and slightly more
carpet. Blaupunkt AM/FM CD stereo. Does NOT include hard top. I regularly get 30-35 MPG. This is my fourth Lotus
and I'm selling it after 11+ years to try a different Lotus model. It is a well cared for example driven by a
meticulous female owner. I have the original Monroney window sticker and most of the service records (moved twice
in the last 11 years, so some may have been misplaced)
That's about all I can think to say. A great car, you will not be disappointed.

Lotus F1 apologizes for tweeting support for LGBT Olympians
Mon, 10 Feb 2014The Lotus Formula One Team is apologizing after its official Twitter account posted this image of two men kissing in connection to the opening of the Winter Olympics on Friday, February 7. It claims that the original tweet was "unauthorized."
The tweet, which Lotus deleted later that day, can be viewed to the right and was promptly replaced an apology that said, "We would like to sincerely apologise for an unauthorized message posted on our Twitter account today & will ensure this cannot happen again." Responses to the kerfuffle on its Twitter page have mostly focused on confusion as to what the original tweet was and why it was removed.
While the Sochi Olympics have been controversial among LBGT groups because of Russia's laws banning so-called "gay propaganda," the country has a growing importance in F1. In fact, the first Russian Grand Prix is scheduled to run later this season on a circuit around the Sochi Olympic Park. Genii Capital, the team's owner, has business interests in Russia, and according to the BBC, the Lotus F1 team is working on a deal to with Russian mobile phone company Yotaphone to sell it 10 percent of the team.
Lotus and Aston Martin to hook up?
Tue, 30 Oct 2012This has been a tumultuous year for Lotus - to say the least - from the company being sold off back in January to its CEO Dany Bahar being fired in June to its questionable financial status and rumors of the British automaker being sold off to another automaker. First, we heard that Volkswagen was interested in acquiring Lotus and parent company Proton, a rumor that was later dismissed. Now Automobile is reporting that fellow Brit Aston Martin could be in the market to work with or possibly even merge with Lotus.
While this is pure speculation at this point, such a venture could prove to be beneficial for both independent companies. That's because with Lotus focused on lightweight, relatively affordable sports cars and Aston Martin producing high-end performance cars, there is virtually no product overlap between the companies. The article suggests that a person or company wanting to merge these two automakers would have to raise between $1.1 billion and $1.6 billion in order to make a go of it, however.
We're not sure what to think of this latest rumor, but anything that can help get the struggling brand back to health at least has our interest.
Lotus recalling certain 2011 Evora S models for possible oil leak, fire
Mon, 29 Jul 2013Last year about 80 examples of the 2011 Lotus Evora S were recalled over an issue with the oil feed pipe. The same number of 2011 Evora S', but with different manufacture dates, are back in the recall box again for a very similar issue; this time it's the engine oil cooler hose that could rupture and spray oil either onto the rear wheels or a hot engine part. Neither of those cases is good, and the latter could potentially lead to a fire.
Lotus is working on a solution, so a recall date hasn't been announced. The bulletin below from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has more information.
