Up
for sale is this magnificent 1979 Lincoln Town Car. You
will be noticed when you drive this car!
Driving this car is like floating on a cloud; it’s very smooth. It has approximately 95,000 miles on it. This was my father's car and he was the original owner. I inherited the car upon his passing. Low reserve on the car. Here are some details about the car: Exterior: Overall, this is a very good looking car. The color is called “Wedgewood Blue”, Lincoln color-code 34. There is some surface rust in the usual places; it appears a bit deeper behind the passenger-side front fender. The chrome is in good shape, showing some light pitting in areas. There are some rust holes in the rear bumper, as pictured. The landau vinyl roof covering is intact, though a bit faded. There does not appear to be any rust under the vinyl roof. Engine: The engine is the 400-CID model with a 2-barrel carburetor. It runs on 87-octane unleaded gasoline. I had the car inspected for safety issues and the engine tuned in 2013. I had the ignition wires and spark plugs replaced. I also had the carb rebuilt and fuel system cleaned at the same time. Any suspect hoses were replaced. The transmission is the C-6 three-speed automatic transmission and shifts smoothly. The car gets around 10 miles per gallon. Interior: The spacious interior is in very good to excellent condition. The fabric is crushed velour and the color is “Wedgewood Blue”, the same as the exterior. The dashboard and doors have faux burled wood trim. The back seat and floor appear as if they have never been used. The front seat and floor show very little wear. However, the lower left hand part of the steering wheel by the cruise control shows a crack. All the fabric and carpeting are original. The AM / FM / 8-Track player is a “Quadraphonic” unit. The radio does work, however the 8-track doesn’t play. It also appears that one of the channels does not work. The power antenna does work properly. The Cartier “digital” clock works fine and keeps accurate time. On the tilting steering wheel you will see the controls for the automatic cruise control. The tilt works fine as does the cruise control. There is a small crack in the lower left hand part of the steering wheel trim, just below the trim on the wheel.
What’s Wrong: Here are the defects that I am aware of. There may be more, which is the reason I am selling the car “AS-IS”:

Lincoln MKC prototype spied out testing
Wed, 20 Mar 2013As was the case with the Lincoln MKZ, it appears that Lincoln isn't wasting any time getting its newest model transformed from concept to production form. We just saw the MKC Concept earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show, and based on these spy shots, it looks like the final touches are being put in place for the 2014 Lincoln MKC crossover.
Sharing its platform with the Ford Escape, we can definitely see some similarities between these two compact crossovers when it comes to the roofline and daylight opening, but through the heavy camouflage, Lincoln's signature split-wing grille can easily be seen and it looks like the concept's taillights will also make it to reality. On the disappointing side, it looks like the integrated exhaust outlets are being ditched for some round outlets, and we can't tell if the production version will keep the Audi-like clamshell rear liftgate.
J Mays retiring from Ford design, succeeded by Moray Callum
Tue, 05 Nov 2013Ford's highly influential head of design, J Mays, has announced that he'll be retiring from his position after 33 years in the industry, 16 of which were at the Dearborn, MI-based company. Upon departure, he'll be succeeded as group vice president of design by Moray Callum. If that last name sounds familiar, yes, he's the brother of Jaguar's Ian Callum.
It's difficult to explain just how big of a role Mays had on not just Ford's design over the years, but on the entire industry. Before heading to Dearborn, Mays worked for Audi, BMW and then Volkswagen, where he was involved in concept cars that paved the way for design icons like the first-generation Audi TT and the Volkswagen New Beetle. As for his Ford resume, it's extensive.
Mays joined the company in 1997 as design director for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda, as well as the Premier Automotive Group (Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin). He was heavily involved in the Ford Fusion, Focus, Fiesta, Taurus, F-150 and Mustang, while also contributing to concept cars like the Atlas, Evos, 427, Forty-Nine, Shelby GR-1, Lincoln MKZ and the MKC.
Ford recalling 850,000 cars and SUVs for airbag issues
Fri, 26 Sep 2014Ford has announced a major recall of 850,000 vehicles from model years 2013 and 2014 due to a problem with the "restraints control module."
According to Ford, a short circuit could develop in the module, causing the airbag warning light to illuminate. In more severe cases, dependent on where the short develops, the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners may not work in the event of an accident. The problems can be more wide-ranging than that, too, as systems that rely on information from the control module, such as the stability control can be affected.
With 850,000 vehicles affected, it's no surprise that some of Ford's volume leaders are covered. That includes the Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans, as well as the incredibly recall-prone Escape and the C-Max MPV.
