1997 Lincoln Town Car Stretch Limo Limousine on 2040-cars
Normal, Illinois, United States
This limo was purchased for a weeklong bachelor party last month. I searched high and low for an older limousine that had a good engine that could hold 10-11 people. I found this one on the north side of Chicago, donated to a church by a man who originally wanted to ship it to Romania. We put 500 miles on the car with 11 people in it, no problem. Tires, brakes, transmission, engine, steering all work as they should. Not sure about the engine history but it's very clean and appears to have some work done to it recently as several parts look very new (see pictures). I have a clear Illinois title in hand, although I did find some rebuilt history in another state when looking up the VIN. Interior is in good shape, power windows, power locks, power sunroof all work. Air and heat work. The car came from California so rust is not an issue. Send along any questions and I'll answer them honestly and quickly. If you're looking for a cheaper good running old limo, you found it. Car is currently located in Bloomington, IL but I would consider delivering within 200 miles.
EDIT: eBay is making me list this car as having a salvage title. It looks like from the vehicle history this car has been issued a salvage and rebuilt title quite a few years ago. It also looks like this car has been roadworthy for some years now. I'm afraid I don't have much more information than this, and the church I purchased it from didn't have any knowledge of the car's history other than it being purchased and shipped from California to Illinois last fall. The title I have in hand is a clear Illinois title. On Jun-09-14 at 13:55:27 PDT, seller added the following information: I encourage anyone interested to message me with any questions or concerns. I have a couple walkaround videos of the vehicle as well. I'd be happy to provide any information I can. |

Ford's Jim Farley hints at Lincoln sales rebound
Thu, 25 Apr 2013If you're a fan of Lincoln, get ready for "a really great story" come May 1. That's how Ford marketing boss Jim Farley, in a call with analysts, characterized the coming April sales report for the MKZ. At the moment, there are probably few things that the executive VP could want more than a happy ending for the ballyhooed sedan that has made people cry boo-hoo for the past six months.
The massive glass roof of the MKZ is trying to support a burden that would make Atlas tap out, and it hasn't shattered, but it has shown a few cracks. The car we called "a big step in the right direction," the embodiment of the reinvention of the brand and a test of Lincoln's commitment to a new rear-wheel drive offering was given an $8-million dollar Super Bowl ad spend earlier this year, then quality control issues during its assembly scuttled deliveries. Lincoln got over that and kept up the ad blitz, now it just wants the good work to take hold.
If Farley's not leading us on, April could be the month. He said the results (so far) show "the product is being very well-received," inventory is finally where it should be and the MKZ Hybrid is doing better than expected. It bears noting that Lincoln is offering some aggressive incentive programs at the moment, including 0.9-percent APR and $1,000 off for conquest buyers stepping out of competitors' vehicles.
Lincoln's second, more traditional, Super Bowl commercial
Sat, 02 Feb 2013For its second Super Bowl commercial, Lincoln Motor Company has stepped away from the Max Ernst-ian surrealism of the "Steer the Script" spot. No Germans, no turtles, no aliens nor alpacas this time, just a 30-second run through the ways in which Lincoln sees the 2013 MKZ as a rebirth of the brand and everything a luxury consumer would want.
The kind of traditional spot that could run any time of year, the only question we had after watching it was: "Wait - was that... Abraham Lincoln?" Along with the press release from Lincoln, you can view the spot below.
If you want a deeper look and criticism into Lincoln's "Steer The Script," ad, have a read of AOL Autos' column: Lincoln's Super Bowl Ad is a Flop, written by Pete Bigelow.
Lincoln MKX Concept goes for the gold in Beijing
Sun, 20 Apr 2014We've now seen the Lincoln MKX Concept in the metal, and we've shot it with the lenses of our own DSLR cameras. And we have to say, our opinion of the concept's design language has improved over our initial reaction. Yes, it's clear that this MKX shares its underpinnings with those of the Ford Edge Concept that we saw in LA, but the changes made by Lincoln stylists are a welcome departure from the angular lines of its corporate cousin from The Blue Oval.
We like the subtlety of the MKX Concept's front fascia, and the lighting elements both front and rear lend a luxurious quality to the crossover's typical two-box proportions. When combined with the smaller MKC that was shown in production form late last year, it's clear to see that Lincoln has a specific design direction that at least seems visually capable of setting it apart from the Ford models with which the brand shares its platforms. Here's hoping there are some Lincoln-specific upgrades underhood...
Have a look at our image gallery of live photos from Beijing above, reread the press release below, and feel free to let us know what you think.
