This beautiful Lincoln is being sold to settle the estate of Ms. Shirley Musick. She purchased the car from Bailey Lincoln in Ft. Worth in Oct. of '84 preowned. Ever since, the car has been parked on the left side of the garage of her home in the Lytle Shores neighborhood (around a private lake in Abilene, Tx.). We lost Miss Shirley in Feb., the house has been sold, and now the Lincoln.
I removed the car from her garage Friday. Drove around the loop, had it washed (not detailed), and what a wonderful car this is !! I had one new, and had forgot just how comfortable and quite these Lincoln's are. This is a very nice, original car.
First off, this Mark has always been in service. Never stored, or neglected. Showing 87,000 miles. Not bad for 31 years! If you remember the metallic paints from this era, they did not hold up well, especially in the extremely hot, West Texas climate. The paint really is nice, very shiny, and all without having been detailed. There are very few, minor blemishes you would expect on a car of this age. Nothing that distracts from just how nice it is. NO RUST! EVER! ANYWHERE! Abilene is hot, and very dry! Our cars do not rust.
I only drove the car about 25 miles, and everything seems to be in working order. The only issues I noticed, the power antenna does not work. Everything else seems fine. The digital dash is perfect. Seats, windows -- all good. The leather on the seats is in amazing condition. They are still extremely soft, and really comfortable. The vinyl top is soft, no cracking. Tires look good and so does the spare.
Took some pictures of the car on a lift, you can see that the undercarriage is in great condition. Again, NO RUST!
A car dealer friend told me that it's hard to find any nice car to drive for this price, especially a collector type that looks this good. Wish I had the room........

J Mays retiring from Ford design, succeeded by Moray Callum
Tue, 05 Nov 2013Ford's highly influential head of design, J Mays, has announced that he'll be retiring from his position after 33 years in the industry, 16 of which were at the Dearborn, MI-based company. Upon departure, he'll be succeeded as group vice president of design by Moray Callum. If that last name sounds familiar, yes, he's the brother of Jaguar's Ian Callum.
It's difficult to explain just how big of a role Mays had on not just Ford's design over the years, but on the entire industry. Before heading to Dearborn, Mays worked for Audi, BMW and then Volkswagen, where he was involved in concept cars that paved the way for design icons like the first-generation Audi TT and the Volkswagen New Beetle. As for his Ford resume, it's extensive.
Mays joined the company in 1997 as design director for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda, as well as the Premier Automotive Group (Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin). He was heavily involved in the Ford Fusion, Focus, Fiesta, Taurus, F-150 and Mustang, while also contributing to concept cars like the Atlas, Evos, 427, Forty-Nine, Shelby GR-1, Lincoln MKZ and the MKC.

2013 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost
Tue, 13 Nov 2012A Bench-Warmer In Waiting
I hail from Cleveland, and that means I'm familiar with sports franchises that are always falling short of championships. The Indians, the Browns, the Cavs - they've all come close, but being a resident of C-Town means learning to appreciate the effort more than a reward that never seems to come. So I can appreciate the situation in which Lincoln finds itself today, one where the past is full of repeated attempts to be competitive, and looming on the future's horizon is the next hope on which everything hinges.
That next hope for Lincoln is not the car you see here, but rather the smaller, all-new 2013 MKZ sedan. Like LeBron James entering Gund Arena for the first time, the MKZ will enter dealerships this fall as the brand's chosen savior, markedly more stylish, advanced and desirable than anything offered by Lincoln in recent memory. And that would make this car, the 2013 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost, one of the other 20 guys whose names I can't remember who played alongside LeBron during his rookie season.
