This beautiful Alabaster Pearl Lincoln Mk8 was delivered new in January, 1997 to the gentleman I bought it from (via dealer). It has spent it's entire life in southern California and was regularly serviced there. I have all of the service records from the date of delivery to the present, which show very few miles every year, culminating in the current 22,300 showing on the odometer.

Everything works perfectly on this car, including the neon taillight, airbag suspension, HID headlights, and dual console cupholders. The ashtray and lighter have, of course, never been used and the interior smells like the dove gray leather seats. The mileage calculator shows an average MPG of 20.5 which is about half city and half highway miles. I have gotten as high as 26 MPG on a recent trip, and I think the city average with the 4.6 V-8 is about 18 MPG. A review of the service records shows that this car has had very few problems requiring dealer attention. The serpentine belt was replaced some time ago and it has new Michelin OEM tires, and the chrome directional wheels which show as a $700 option in 1997 to the original owner.

I love these Lincoln Mk 8's and this one is the best I have seen in years. Where else can you find a Classic 2 door coupe in like new (literally) condition for this price.

Lincoln's second, more traditional, Super Bowl commercial

For its second Super Bowl commercial, Lincoln Motor Company has stepped away from the Max Ernst-ian surrealism of the "Steer the Script" spot. No Germans, no turtles, no aliens nor alpacas this time, just a 30-second run through the ways in which Lincoln sees the 2013 MKZ as a rebirth of the brand and everything a luxury consumer would want.
The kind of traditional spot that could run any time of year, the only question we had after watching it was: "Wait - was that... Abraham Lincoln?" Along with the press release from Lincoln, you can view the spot below.

Is Lincoln MKC cutting into Cadillac SRX sales?

The two big American luxury brands of Cadillac and Lincoln are on surprisingly similar paths at the moment with both divisions hoping to redefine themselves and grow popularity. They're still early in the process with no clear winner yet, but things might actually be looking up for Lincoln's latest model, according to a monthly sales analysis from The Motley Fool. It seems, at least early on, that the new MKC crossover might be taking a bite out of the Cadillac SRX's growth.
The MKC launched just a few months ago and has been getting a big marketing push from a series of oft-mocked ads starring the smooth-talking Matthew McConaughey. The luxury CUV has been the popular, new kid on the block with growing sales since its introduction. While smaller than the SRX, the Lincoln starts at a lower price and offers better fuel economy.
Through June, the SRX performed well with sales up over 20 percent on average through June, according to The Motley Fool. However, July and August saw things plummet with year-over-year drops of 7 percent and 37 percent, respectively. It still far outsold the MKC in terms of actual units in a given month, but the Caddy's continued growth has appeared to stagnate.

Lincoln's first shipment of cars arrives in China

It has been two years since Lincoln first announced its plans to expand into China, and the first models destined for sale in the giant automotive market just came off the boat in Shanghai on September 10. It's going to be a few weeks before Chinese buyers actually have the chance to get behind the wheel, though.
The first two models being offered to China are the MKZ and MKC, as seen arriving in these photos, and they are going to be sold at dealers that look more like hotels than traditional showrooms. The first four are opening in Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou in October, with a grand unveiling of the new brand to Chinese consumers later that month. By the end of the year, Lincoln wants to have eight dealers operating in seven cities. By 2016, the automaker wants to have a lineup of five models available in the People's Republic.
"This is the culmination of months of teamwork and collaboration both in North America and here in China," said Robert Parker, President of Lincoln China, in the company's release.
