Car needs aesthetic work; new interior, vinyl top, and paint. NEEDS NEW HEADLIGHT SWITCH I am working on replacing this myself, should be done soon. Will re-list / edit listing it if that is replaced."

This is a wonderful 1975 Lincoln Mark IV. I have owned it for a couple years and need to part ways with it because I need money to move. It is a real pleasure to drive, it feels smooth as a cloud and definitely turns a lot of heads. I have put a lot of work into the engine; I guarantee you everything under the hood is sound. The engine has a very satisfying idle purr that you can only get out of old American V8s. On average the fuel economy is 9, but I've managed to get it up to 11 before. This car has a lot of charm and character, and I'm sure you will fall in love with it as I have.

It has a solid body with very minimal rust in the wheel wells. The car mostly needs aesthetic work; it could use new paint, new vinyl top, and new upholstery. It also has a few issues with minor electronics: the cruise control and the clock do not work, the A/C may work but probably needs recharged (the fans / heaters work fine, though), the radio works, but only very quietly - any louder and it starts to screech. The biggest problem with this car is that the headlights do not currently turn on. It needs a new headlight switch (about a $70 part). I have not yet put it in, but I fully intend to in the near future. I will edit or re-list if I do install that part. The headlight covers open and shit just fine, and the headlights and brights worked earlier, so this should be an easy fix.

The fixes I did to the engine since I've owned it:
*Replaced the carburetor
*New Battery Terminals
*New Voltage Regulator

This is a wonderful car to own and drive and would make an excellent project car to people who could devote time to it. This vehicle means a lot to me, but it is time for us to part ways. I am not willing to sell this to a scrap dealer or anybody like that, but if you have good intentions for this car I am more than willing to negotiate a lower price. Seriously, make me an offer! I need to sell this car, so I will consider anything reasonable!

Thanks for looking!

2015 Lincoln MKC aims to rejuvenate the brand... again

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

Ford is slowly but surely attempting to revitalize the Lincoln brand, with the new MKZ sedan pointing the way forward for the Blue Oval's struggling luxury division. Here at the LA Auto Show, Lincoln is showing the next new product that aims to give the brand new life, the 2015 MKC crossover.
The MKC is based on the trusty Ford Escape, but this is far more than just a rebadge job. Lincoln has used completely new sheetmetal here, with the brand's familiar split-wing grille front and center, and a classy, wraparound tailgate with super slim taillamps that span the width of the hatchback. It's one of the better applications of Lincoln's new design language we've seen thus far, and the end result is a taut-looking crossover that is at the same time both modern and luxurious-looking.
Further differentiating itself from the Escape, the MKC packs an all-new 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, good for 275 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. (On the base end, Ford's 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 240 hp and 270 lb-ft is available.) The MKC also uses a new Continuously Controlled Damping adaptive suspension, and is available with both front- and all-wheel drive.

Ford issues four recalls covering 163k vehicles

Tue, 19 Aug 2014

Recalls! 2014 will be forever remembered as the year that automakers went recall crazy, with millions and millions of vehicles adding up to crush previous recall records well before the end of the year. Adding to that tally is Ford, which announced a call-back for 163,000 vehicles.
Leading that charge are the 2.0-liter, EcoBoost four-cylinder engines of the Ford Focus ST and Ford Escape. 160,000 of the 2013 and 2014 models have bad wiring harnesses that can disrupt the signals traveling to the powertrain control module. That, in turn, could lead to a check engine light, reduced power and stalling. Notably, Ford hasn't recalled any other vehicles that feature the 2.0 EcoBoost, such as the Fusion, Taurus or Explorer.
While the Focus ST and Escape constitute the vast majority of recalled vehicles, they aren't the only problem children in the Ford family. 1,300 Transit passenger vans from model year 2015 were recalled due to brake fluid leaks, while another 600 Transit cargo variants were recalled after Ford discovered the windowless sliding doors could come open in the event of a side-impact crash. Dealers will replace the sealing washers on the passenger variants and add a reinforcement plate on the cargo models, The Detroit News reports.

SNL, Jim Carrey late to the Lincoln MKC ad spoof party

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

At this point, making fun of the Lincoln MKC ads starring Matthew McConaughey is getting pretty old, though apparently Lincoln loves it. The commercials have been airing for over a month, but Conan O'Brien, Ellen DeGeneres and even South Park have all taken their swipes at the spots with the smooth-talking actor monologuing about his new luxury crossover. Saturday Night Live might have finally killed the joke in its recent episode featuring Jim Carrey.
The problem certainly isn't that Carrey does a bad job in the spoofs, and he actually pulls off a pretty good McConaughey impression. They start out as pretty direct mimicry and slowly evolve into the absurd, including cracks at McConaughey's acting career and the way he rubs his thumb and finger together. Carrey certainly raises at least a chuckle at times, though.
However, the comedian's engaging performance can't take away from the fact that SNL has arriving to this mocking party pretty late in the game. The jokes just don't feel fresh anymore, so hopefully these ads put the final nails in the coffin for the riffs - at least until the next batch of Lincoln ads arrive.
