Original miles, family owned 1964 Lincoln Continental purchased new by my parents and still in the family as of now. Other than exterior paint (re-painted about 20 years ago), rear interior carpet and trunk hinges, I believe this Lincoln to be all original and has been garaged its entire life. In my Dad's later years the car was driven a few miles here and there, other than that he kept it covered and started/running in the garage. The only negative thing I'm aware of is that in 2006 there was a small engine fire due to a leaking fuel pump and bad spark plug wire (both discovered my me). It would appear the fan blew gas down the driver side of the engine (which sits at a slant) where it found this wire (closest to the firewall) and ignited. When it burned it apparently affected mostly that and another spark plug wire, another hose, the accelerator spring and various vacuum hoses. From what I understand the car was not properly insured so a claim was never filed for repair and the car sat for a while before I was ever told about what happened. Through all that time the battery still held a charge, so when I finally got the chance I did all I knew to do (basic mechanics) with my brother and we got the car running again by repairing the fuel pump, all spark plug wires, plugs, etc.

Lincoln bringing in MKZ Hybrid over rollaway risk
Mon, 30 Dec 2013Federal safety standards require that every new car needs to have the brake depressed in order to shift it out of Park. But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found fault in the transmission range sensor on certain examples of the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, allowing the car to be shifted out of Park without first depressing the brake. The fear is that with this condition, affected vehicles may be unintentionally pulled out of Park, resulting in a possible rollaway. That safety concern has prompted parent Ford Motor Company to issue a recall.
The issue pertains to 7,153 examples of the MKZ Hybrid built between April 26, 2012 and September 24, 2013, covering the 2013 and 2014 model years. As a result, Ford will notify owners to bring their MKZs into their local Lincoln dealer to have the Powertrain Control Module software updated in order to rectify the problem. See the full recall notice below for details.
Lincoln unveils its Black Label Collection at Pebble Beach
Thu, 15 Aug 2013With the posh surroundings of Monterey, CA during the Pebble Beach week as a backdrop, Lincoln has unveiled is new personalization and luxury service brand, called Lincoln Black Label. Following in the footsteps of programs like BMW Individual, Range Rover Autobiography, and many more, Black Label is strategic strike, aimed at upping Lincoln's brand cachet while luring new customers into the fold. Speaking about this at the Black Label's introduction in California Thursday, Jim Farley, Ford's executive vice president of Global Marketing, Sales and Service and Lincoln, told members of the media that "At Lincoln, our flagship is, you get to choose. That's our flagship."
While Black Label customers will benefit from concierge-like service from their dealers - both during the sale process and throughout ownership - the focus of the introduction is strongly focused on interior design.
Lincoln chose its current MKZ sedan and its MKC Concept crossover (seen in the inset image) as the debutants for Black Label treatment for good reason: the well-received MKC points the way forward for Lincoln styling as a whole, and the MKZ will be the first production vehicle to receive the option of the high-zoot interior design. We're told that eventually, Black Label treatment will be available for the full Lincoln lineup, but the MKZ will be the initial recipient, and not until late in 2014 according to the company's current projections.
