The following auction is for a 1997 Lincoln Continental. I am the 2nd owner of this beautiful car, Car is loaded with everything that you could have loaded in 1997 as the original sticker price was over $40,000 (see pictures). The car has 64,754 miles on it. Car starts up on the first try ever try, even in the 6 degree cold winter blast Ohio has gotten the past week. Handles great in the snow and the car drives really smooth, nice strong engine. On the highway it feels like your barely moving. There are no check engine lights on and it was just in the shop two weeks ago for a tune-up and inspection. I bought the car from an older lady who had bought a new Lincoln and was looking to sell hers,  I purchased the car over a year ago knowing that the breaks and ball joints needed done. So all new ceramic pads around, all new rotors around, new break lines, and new ball joints. Other than that the car was in great shape and needed nothing else done to it. Since owning it and driving it daily I've just had the routine basic problems, The 3rd month I had it the thermastat went bad so that has been replaced and just 2 weeks ago I had a tune up done to it, all new spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and oil change (as the spark plugs were the original spark plugs from 1997). The exterior of the car is beautiful except for a little are of rust above the rear right tire (The local body shop gave me a quote of $120 to fix it), but other than that little area of the car is rust and dent free. On the passenger side door where the panel is there is a couple of spec's of paint missing, didn't notice any other area's were there were chips and paint missing as the car was triple coated for additional cost when it was new. The car still shines like new with that beautiful pearl white finish. The interior of the car is near perfect, the only imperfection i see is under the passenger seat there looks to have been a red crayon or something of that nature that melted on the floor, I'm sure with a little elbow grease or cleaner this can be removed, but it's under the seat far enough to wear you do not see it unless the passenger seat is moved up. The car has a 6 disc CD player, that works perfectly, the sound in this car is loud an clear as their was a JBL Audio system premium Luxury Sound system put in when purchased. For the CD Player and Sound upgrade in 1997 the cost was over $900 extra to the final price. All seats are plump and tear or hole free. Some of the trim around looks like it had began to come loose and was not put back on very well, all on driver side door, also the window control on the passenger side the plastic piece that covers it is not all the way flush. 2 very minor things that are hard to notice and see, but I want to fully describe the car the best I can. Tires are all matching and have over 60% of tread left, the wheels and rims are all matching, but the back right head cap has been replaced with a different year Lincoln head cap and the back left one was not put back on and is in the trunk for some reason? The trunk and gas release work well and all other power options do as well, seat controls, cruise control, power windows including express down driver window, power mirrors, and anything else I may have forgot. Trunk is big and also very clean. The only other minor issue with the inside of the car, the rear view mirror looks to have gotten water in it, she must have left the sun roof open and it rained in. You can see out of it fine, but it's a little streaky and discolored. I know what you all are thinking well if this car is as great as it sounds why are you selling it?? Well here's the answer, the gas is terrible It only gets 20-22 miles to the gallon which was fine when I only had 5 miles to drive to work, but now I have over 40 and I am getting a newer civic in 2 weeks so I do not need this car anymore. Another negative with the gas is you must use premium fuel only. You can put regular unleaded in, but then you will only get about 12-14 miles per gallon. Car has been a great car for me and besides the thermastat the one day it has never left me stranded. I still use it every day to drive 40+ miles one way so the actual mileage will probably be closer to 65,000 when auction ends. I have tried to describe this car to the best of my knowledge and test drives are welcome and yes you can take it to your mechanic to have it checked out. Most continental in this range of years have 200-250K miles on them so this baby is just getting started. Clean and Clear title in hand. Car is sold as is were is and there is no warranty on it. The car is located in crestline, ohio and is also for sale locally, I have started the opening bid at less than 50% of kelly blue book value and the BIN price is also less than KBB value. Car must be payed for in full within 3 days. $1500 of which is due within 48 hours of auction ending. The car comes with 3 sets of keys. If you have any questions at all feel free to shoot me an email and I will answer them to the best of my ability.

Thanks for all the questions, one thing I forgot is the sun roof. Yes it does work and opens and closes all the way. Sometimes it does not close all the way, but you can hear it when you drive just push the open and close again and it closes up, never had any problems with it and use it quite frequently in the summer, last thing I forgot to mention was the heat does work very hott, and the AC is ice cold, both working perfectly fine, thanks again for all the questions any other questions feel free to email me, thanks chaddie34

GM design boss Welburn says Lincoln isn't a Cadillac rival [w/poll]

Thu, 05 Dec 2013

General Motors Vice President of Global Design, Ed Welburn, had some dismissive words for a certain cross-town luxury brand during an interview with Car and Driver. When asked about his thoughts on Lincoln, Welburn deflected, before saying, "I don't consider Lincoln to be a competitor for Cadillac."
"They're not a global luxury brand. I don't consider them a competitor. Are they a competitor for Buick? Quite possibly. But not for Cadillac," GM's head designer explained. Welburn, who's been at the helm of GM Design North America since 2003 and is the first to hold the position of VP of Global Design, has been instrumental in the styling renaissance at GM, so predictably, Car and Driver's interview with him focused on the design aspect of cars.
During the interview, Welburn explicitly denied plans for a reborn Cadillac XLR, even as a new Chevrolet Corvette is hitting the market and strides are being made with Cadillac's V-Series performance arm saying, "We have a lot of cars that we're working on for the Cadillac brand. The XLR is not one of them right now."

Ford rethinking vehicle launch strategy

Tue, 07 May 2013

With a new boss at the helm, Ford is looking at new ways to improve its vehicle launches in North America to prevent recent issues that have popped up with models like the Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and Ford Fusion. Speaking with Automotive News, Ford's new president of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs, revealed a few ways the automaker plans to avoid early build issues such as the engine fires on certain 2013 Escape and Fusion models and months-long delays for customers to receive their MKZs.
It sounds like the root of the problems may have been Ford's relationship with suppliers compounded by the fact that the product surge came on the heels of the recent industry-crippling recession, and in the AN article, Hinrichs says improvements are being made to reduce problems during the launch of new or redesigned models. Three such improvements that were implemented during the first quarter of this year including more rigorous quality comparisons, better use of computer technology to catch major problems sooner and hiring engineers to work closer with suppliers.

Would a Mustang-based Lincoln look like this?

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Designer Josiah LaCalla has taken a stab at what a Ford Mustang-based Lincoln model might look like with the Continental Mark X1 concept. Make no mistake, Ford's luxury arm has made it abundantly clear that it won't be pursuing any new products outside of volume models, which means a flashy halo grand tourer like the one you see here isn't in the cards. LaColla used the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as a basis for his creation, which explains the long nose, but we certainly don't mind the idea of a rear-wheel drive Lincoln with a cabin pushed to the aft.
While we're dreaming, there's certainly nothing stopping us from imagining what's under that lengthy hood. We like the idea of the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 from the Shelby GT500 pushing the Mark X1 down the road, but how about something a little more inventive? Something like a high-revving, buttery V12 with enough torque to push the contraption well past 200 miles per hour. Dream a little dream, people.
