Please read ad before inquiring.

WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT: This car was painted by Texas artist Frank X. Tolbert Jr. and used as an "art car" for a few years. It's a one of a kind.

CONDITION: It runs. Kind of. It was parked about 8 years ago, and hasn't been driven since. Up until that time, it was meticulously cared for. Original owner willed it to her grand daughter who drove it and made it into an art car. Interior is intact, a few rips in the seats. It's not clean, it's been sitting. But it's intact.

I recently turned the engine over enough to make sure the fuel pump works. (Disconnected from the engine). It must have the tank dropped and all of the systems flushed before trying to start this car. I was quoted about $300 from a mechanic to clean it up and get it running. But there is nothing major wrong with any of the systems, or at least there certainly weren't when it was last driven.

Tires are in bad shape, but 2 of them hold air for about a day, and 2 of them last longer. But they will pump up for towing purposes. They can all four hold aid long enough to be pulled up onto the back of a tow truck.

Which brings me to:

YOU MUST TOW THIS VEHICLE AWAY WITH A TOW TRUCK. Don't expect to have your buddy pull you with a chain behind his truck. It needs a real flat bed tow truck.

TITLE: No title. It's around here somewhere, but let's just proceed. I can't find it. It's clear, I can assure you of that. There are no issues.

Pictures show dirt because it's dirty. I decided not to wash it. I rinsed it, but it needs a good scrubbing, and I wanted to leave that up to whomever buys it due to the artwork that's on it.

This is really a nice car, with a great paint job. Someone will love this.

Contact me with any questions. $1,000 firm. It's easily worth $1,000. Priced to sell.

Would a Mustang-based Lincoln look like this?

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Designer Josiah LaCalla has taken a stab at what a Ford Mustang-based Lincoln model might look like with the Continental Mark X1 concept. Make no mistake, Ford's luxury arm has made it abundantly clear that it won't be pursuing any new products outside of volume models, which means a flashy halo grand tourer like the one you see here isn't in the cards. LaColla used the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as a basis for his creation, which explains the long nose, but we certainly don't mind the idea of a rear-wheel drive Lincoln with a cabin pushed to the aft.
While we're dreaming, there's certainly nothing stopping us from imagining what's under that lengthy hood. We like the idea of the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 from the Shelby GT500 pushing the Mark X1 down the road, but how about something a little more inventive? Something like a high-revving, buttery V12 with enough torque to push the contraption well past 200 miles per hour. Dream a little dream, people.

2015 Ford F-150 named Truck of Texas, Lincoln and Jeep also awarded at Truck Rodeo

Tue, 14 Oct 2014

The Ford Motor Company has a lot of reasons to celebrate after winning eight categories in this year's Texas Auto Writers Association's annual Truck Rodeo. Most important among them, the Blue Oval's latest 2015 Ford F-150 earned the prestigious Truck of Texas award, ending the Ram 1500's two-year winning streak. The 2015 Lincoln MKC also grabbed the honor as the CUV of Texas, and Ford was named Truck Line of Texas.
FoMoCo even took trophies for best technology with its extensive use of aluminum on its latest F-Series and best commercial vehicle for the new Transit 250. It wasn't a total sweep, though, because the Jeep Grand Cherokee grabbed the title of the SUV of Texas for the fifth straight time.
This year's event put 60 auto writers in 75 pickups, SUVs and crossovers and challenged them to find the best in a plethora of categories. All of the winners are listed below, and scroll down to read the full announcements from the Texas Auto Writers Association and Ford.

Ford recalling 370,000 Crown Vic, Grand Marquis and Town Car models

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

The Detroit News is reporting that Ford will recall some 370,000 Crown Victoria (pictured), Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car vehicles from model years 2005 through 2011, for an issue regarding the lower intermediate steering shaft. 355,000 of the vehicles in question were sold in the US, with the other 15,000 sold in Canada.
The report indicates that corrosion of the lower intermediate steering shaft could cause a "loss of steering," presumably because of a partial or complete failure of the part. The report points out the dealers will inspect and replace the offending steering component for recalled cars, and may also secure a lower steering column bearing and replace the upper intermediate steering shaft as needed. The company is unaware of any reports of the faulty part causing any accidents or injuries.
Ford helpfully lists states in which corrosion is more likely to have taken place, mostly in the Snow Belt, as you might guess. Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia are listed.
