1971 Lincoln Continental Mark - 90,472 Actual Miles - Must See And Drive! on 2040-cars

Year:1971 Mileage:90472
Location:

Cleveland, Ohio, United States

Cleveland, Ohio, United States

Hi, and thank you for looking at my 1971 Lincoln Mark. As you can see in the pictures, this is not just your average Mark. It has brand new brakes and a brand new tune-up. The exhaust is in good shape. This car is clean and runs well. It has brand new tires and has been completely serviced. It starts easily and drives very nicely. The exhaust is in great shape and the underneath of the car is just about rust-free, as you can see in the photos. It runs as smooth as can be and even the air conditioning works! However, the driver’s window does not work. The interior is in great shape for its age but there is a small, 4 inch tear in the driver’s seat that could easily be fixed. I would’ve fixed the rip in the seat, but the weather has been so bad in Cleveland that I haven’t had an opportunity to bring it to a shop. I don’t want to drive the car in the bad weather, and I’m lucky if I even get the right weather to take it out (like in the pictures). The headlights open and close properly. The body is in excellent shape for the year and so is the chrome.

The 90,472 miles are actual and the title is clean. This will be a 7 day auction with no reserve. The last highest bidder when the auction is over wins my beautiful car. I would like payment by either CASH OR WIRE TRANSFER ONLY, not Paypal, checks, or credit cards. Feel free to give me a call at 216-210-8488 if you have any questions about this classic car. I also ask that the winner of the car calls in the morning to complete this transaction. I would like the car picked up within 7 days because I don’t want to be responsible for the car and I could really use the room. This car will be locked up and kept safe in a garage. I will not pay for shipping, but I will assist your shipper in pickup. If I don’t hear from the winning bidder within 24 hours after the auction is over, I will offer the runner-up bidder a second chance to buy the car through a Second Chance Offer. If you can’t personally make it out to see the car before bidding, please consider sending out a local mechanic to check out the car for you and giving you a complete inspection. I’m selling this car as-is because I’m not a dealer and there’s no way that I can offer a warranty on a 43-year old car. Thank you for reading all of the information about my car, and good luck to all bidders. Enjoy the auction.

-Lou

Lincoln to resurrect old nameplates for China?

Wed, 04 Dec 2013

Judging by the success that many luxury automakers are currently experiencing in China, it's no surprise that Lincoln plans to take advantage of the situation by peddling its wares across the Pacific. Lincoln will open its first Chinese dealership next year, but potential buyers there won't be mucking through the same alphabet soup of car names found in American showrooms. USA Today reports that Ford's luxury car division could revert back to legacy names (like Continental and Zephyr) in China while keeping the MK_ names here in North America.
In speaking to Ford exec Jim Farley during the LA Auto Show, USA Today says that Lincoln could switch its naming structure as models are refreshed. Farley didn't confirm that the naming revamp would be a China-only decision, but article leaves little hope that American buyers will get to see the return of classic names anytime soon.
Why would Ford rehash old Lincoln names for China only? Buyers there seem to have a better historical associations with the nameplates than in the US. Chinese also still hold Lincoln in high regard, associating the marque with use by prominent government officials.

2013 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost

A Bench-Warmer In Waiting
I hail from Cleveland, and that means I'm familiar with sports franchises that are always falling short of championships. The Indians, the Browns, the Cavs - they've all come close, but being a resident of C-Town means learning to appreciate the effort more than a reward that never seems to come. So I can appreciate the situation in which Lincoln finds itself today, one where the past is full of repeated attempts to be competitive, and looming on the future's horizon is the next hope on which everything hinges.
That next hope for Lincoln is not the car you see here, but rather the smaller, all-new 2013 MKZ sedan. Like LeBron James entering Gund Arena for the first time, the MKZ will enter dealerships this fall as the brand's chosen savior, markedly more stylish, advanced and desirable than anything offered by Lincoln in recent memory. And that would make this car, the 2013 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost, one of the other 20 guys whose names I can't remember who played alongside LeBron during his rookie season.
