My Tesla finally arrived (ordered last year!) so it is time to sell my baby. This 2008 Lexus LS 460 4-dr sedan is in near perfect condition, and only has 30,457 miles. No food, drinks, kids, pets, or smoke has been in this car, always garaged at night, and hand washed/waxed only. No accidents, never even "bumped" into anything, title clear - I own the car outright, and it is perfect mechanically.

This car was purchased new by me (I am the original owner), and I bought all the available options. Besides all the great standard luxury items like leather seats and power tilt and slide moonroof, the optional items make the car great. Especially fun is the Mark Levinson premier stereo system with 19 speakers, DVD audio and video playback, voice activated hard drive navigation system with backup camera, bluetooth for your phone and music, keyless start, and Advanced Parking Guidance and Parking Assist (it will park itself!) with front and rear sensors. Also has Lexus Link to program with your garage door openers, power closing of doors and trunk, and the Comfort Plus Package which includes power rear seats, side airbags, heated steering wheel (I will miss that), heated and cooled front AND rear seats, power sunshade, headlamp washers. It also has trunk mat, cargo nets, wheel locks, and two sets of keys. All the tools, first aid kit, spare tire, and original manuals are intact. Everything works.

All scheduled maintenance has been done, up to but NOT including the 30,000 mile check. There are some minor road dings on the front, some finger scratches on the door handle inserts, and some expected wear of the front carpets. The tires are original, but still have OK tread. The 5-year, 100,000 mile factory warranty is still in effect, and transferable to the new owner.

If you like this car, and the color (called Noble Spinel Mica, interior leather is Cashmere), you won't find a more perfect car. The lucky winner of this auction needs to pay for the car in full within 7 days by cash, cashier's check, bank transfer, or 3rd party financing.  Buyer will arrange transport of the car if you live out of the San Francisco Bay Area.  My reserve price is lower than the Buy It Now price.  You will absolutely love this car!

Call me if you have any questions, (925) 683-7461.  Thank you for your interest.

Here's why our Lexus NX is uglier than the rest of the world's

Fri, 01 Aug 2014

Take a good look at the image above. That's the US-market Lexus NX 300h, and it looks, well... distinctive. Although the entire NX crossover sports styling that could certainly be described as controversial, it's the front end of the 'ute that seems to draw most of the ire, befitted as it is with Lexus' so-called spindle grill.
Now, take a look at the pair of images just below. The one on the left is from the States (the same model seen above), while the one on the right comes from Europe. Notice a difference? The lower front fascia of the European Lexus NX dips down much lower than the one from the US, and it looks much more refined because of it.
Why the disparity between the two designs? According to Top Gear Philippines, the reason why the US gets the more pointy proboscis is because of its classification as a light truck. It seems trucks are required to have some sort of concession to the car's approach angle - in other words, a truck should be able to clear an obstacle that a car might hit. Why does Lexus care if the NX is a car or truck? Well, that has to do with how fuel economy is reported, as trucks are given less-stringent requirements for Corporate Average Fuel Economy purposes.

Like sands through the hourglass, so is the 2014 Lexus GX

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

Well, that didn't take long. Just days after patent images leaked, Lexus has released pricing and images for its redesigned 2014 GX 460. Our first reaction is... wow, look at the front end on that! The updated luxury SUV features what Lexus calls "a new interpretation" of its now-trademark Spindle grille. The oversized hourglass shape is certainly unique, and whether for good or bad, it's sure to make the GX stand out.
The redesigned GX is set to hit dealerships in September and it starts at $49,085 - nearly $5,000 less than the 2013 model. Along with the new grille, it comes with standard LED headlights and daytime running lights. Inside, the GX boasts a new eight-inch touchscreen display with backup monitor, HD radio with complimentary weather and traffic data, Bluetooth and a vehicle information display. New espresso wood with black trim is also available for 2014.
Of course, the Luxury model, which starts at $60,715, adds even more frills, including navigation, a new Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, adaptive air suspension and Intuitive Parking Assist. Some of these features are also available on the base model with the addition of the new Premium Package, which Lexus touts "will be at the same price as the base 2013 model year GX 460."

2015 Lexus RC F

Fri, 05 Sep 2014

I didn't get a chance to drive the Lexus IS F until 2009, two years after the car had gone on sale, but I still vividly remember the day it happened. Having piloted almost every other vehicle in the Lexus lineup at that point, I was stoked to finally get some wheel time in the V8-powered, flared-fender muscle sedan, but fully expected the car to offer a quick, sanitized and ultimately un-driverly experience. Lexus built well-screwed-together, comfortable, quiet, reliable luxury cars for the timid, right?
As it turned out, I was 100-percent incorrect. When the premium brand's lauded "skunkworks team" crammed that massive V8 into the innocent IS, and then tuned the thing for competent hot laps at Fuji Speedway (F = Fuji, if you haven't heard), they seemingly forgot every brand value that Lexus had curated over the previous 20 years. It was raw and loud, had fast-twitch reflexes and a penchant for power slides, and it went unyieldingly across the road surface like a racecar cut loose from the paddock.
As far as Ur- models and origin stories go, the IS F and Lexus F has a pretty compelling, if new, set. A backdrop against which the sequel, this 2015 RC F, must inevitably be viewed. Sure, the otherworldly LFA may have intervened as the second F model, but the RC carries forward an evolution of the 5.0-liter V8 thumper, some shared body and chassis constructions, similar in-your-face design and a ticket price that's squarely in the mix for premium buyers with a hankering to smoke tires.
