I am selling my 1967 NADA SIIA that I have been restoring over the last five years.  This is a California vehicle and as such has virtually no corrosion or rust on the body or chassis.  I will list all the parts that were replaced or upgrades below.

This is # 246 out of 811 ever made.  These 109s were a special attempt by Land Rover to break into the US market with its large Safari station wagon.  They modified their 2.6L inline six engine to boost performance to compete with the US V8 market.  After Land Rover dropped the NADA 109 from production they also stopped supporting the modified engine.  As the parts dried up, many owners had to replace their original engines with whatever they could find.  Some were converted to the low compression Land Rover inline six.  Others with the 2.25L four cylinder.  The other option at the time was to install a 235cc GM six cylinder that produced about 150hp.  This is the same engine that Toyota used in the FJ40.

My 109 has the GM 235cc inline six with a Weber two barrel carburetor on it.  The conversion must have been done in the 70s, although I have no way to know.  I had the engine rebuilt when I restored the rover and it runs like a sewing machine.  I had the body painted in the original color using Dupont Imron paint.  The front seats have been reupholstered and all the door panels are new.  The back seat is original.  The headliner came from Badger.  All the brake system and clutch hydraulics are new including lines.  I also have installed parabolic suspension springs and old man emu shocks.  The only parts I did not go though were the axles and the transmission.  I installed a new wiring harness from British wiring and installed a 60Amp fuse between the battery and the harness.

This is probably one of the nicest NADA Rovers around and it needs a home.

Jaguar-Land Rover builds millionth vehicle at Halewood

Fri, 29 Nov 2013

Jaguar-Land Rover is not what you'd call a volume automaker by any stretch of the imagination. But in the dozen years since it started manufacturing at its Halewood plant near Liverpool, England, the automaker has already built its millionth vehicle.
The landmark vehicle is a Range Rover Evoque, done up in white with red roof and mirrors, black wheels and a red and black interior. The crossover is set to be donated to Cancer Research UK, which will auction it off next year to help fund its projects in the north-west of the country.
Halewood started manufacturing the Jaguar X-Type in 2001, then went on to assemble the Land Rover LR2 / Freelander 2 before taking on production of the Evoque a year and a half ago. The facility reached the 300,000-unit milestone just last year as production moved to a 24-hour cycle for the first time in either marque's history.

Jaguar Land Rover building new R&D center for hybrids, EVs, autonomous cars

Wed, 25 Sep 2013

The success of Jaguar Land Rover in recent years has largely been down to a resurgent product lineup, but a recent move into the research and development will see the British-based, Indian-owned brands take the fight to its German rivals more aggressively than ever before.
JLR is investing 50 million pounds ($80,345,000, as of this writing) in a joint R&D center in central England. The move will more than triple its staff dedicated to research, from 150 to 500, with Wolfgang Epple, JLR's Director of Research and Technology telling Automotive News Europe, "In order to play among the big animals in automotive and to be anchored in the mind of customers you have to have offered something unique, to be first in market. We want to be one of the key premier automotive manufacturers."
Jaguar Land Rover's 50-million-pound contribution represents more than half of the 94-million-pound tab, on the so-called National Automotive Innovation Campus. Based at Warwick University, Tata's European Technical Center, Warwick Manufacturing Group and the Higher Education Funding Council, an agency of the British government, are all chipping in for the facility.

Jaguar opens new engine plant in the UK

Thu, 30 Oct 2014

The heads of Jaguar Land Rover are having a busy couple of weeks opening factories. Just days after inaugurating the company's first overseas plant in China, the automaker's new Engine Manufacturing Center in the UK is being inaugurated, as well. The plant near Wolverhampton, England, marks the first time in decades that JLR is building its own powerplants in-house. Further signaling the importance of this launch for the business, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were on hand and even tweeted about it.
The factory's first major project is to build JLR's latest Ingenium four-cylinders, starting with the 2.0-liter diesel version. "Our new Engine Manufacturing Centre is an important step in advancing the competitiveness and capability of the UK automotive sector. The production of in-house engines will support the expansion of the UK supply chain providing critical mass for inward investment," said Trevor Leeks, plant operations director in the automaker's announcement.
Opening the doors to the Engine Manufacturing Center has been years in the making for JLR. The plant was first announced in September 2011 and broke ground in June 2012. Building it cost the company 500 million pounds ($800 million) and created 1,400 new jobs. Of course, being a state-of-the-art factory, considerations were made to make the place as energy efficient as possible. That meant installing the UK's largest solar array with 21,000 panels to produce about 30 percent of the site's electricity needs.
