Here we have for sale a very unique one off Defender 110. This Defender has been subject to a full overhaul by our team of fully qualified technicians and is for sale today in the condition of its life and will make yourself, its perspective new owner one very lucky, happy and enviable person.
As a company we source the world for the very best examples of 25 year old Defenders that are genuine, authentic and above all on a solid chassis, the main platform of the Defender. Once found, captured and delivered back to site we set about what we do best, overhauling these wonderful iconic machines to there full glory and this is what you see before you for sale today.

This Defender has been subject to an engine, brake and suspension overhaul by our dedicated USA workshop, it has been fully painted both inside and out by our in house paint-shop and the interior has been trimmed and fitted by our team of highly skilled technicians. We have spent in excess of 12 weeks rebuilding, restoring and customising this Defender to standards far higher than any competitor in the world today.

The very first stage of the build involved us stripping down the chassis, brakes and suspension and treating the chassis to a full and intensive coating of WaxOyl to protect from the elements and any future corrosion. We have then upon this chassis rebuilt the brakes with new lines, replaced the braking systems and the suspension components including all bushes and arms. The Engine has been fully serviced and tuned and is now in the condition of its life, it runs, it purrs and boy does it sound awesome. The monstrous Defender V8 is a sound I can guarantee that you will adore. Before the paint process began all of the aluminium body panels have been sealed and treated to stop reactions within the paintwork in future years. Once our technicians were satisfied that our ever high standards in terms of preparations were met they handed the vehicle over to our paint team who have themselves prepared and painted this vehicle both inside and out to exceptional standards. The chosen colour is Santorini Black, it's a perlescent shade that upon contact with sunlight glistens and shows off every part of its 9 layer coating. The work gone into the vehicle is extraordinary. It really is not your typical re-spray, this is a full unique customisation to the highest possible standards. Jump on a plane, come on over and see this for yourselves. It is eye-catching, breathtaking and above all it's authentic.

The interior has been fully carpeted from top to bottom, the headlining has been re-trimmed, the seating is hand made to order and is half leather with contrasting mesh inserts with fine white stitching to the seams. We have added a Sony CD with uprated audio speakers equipped to take an Ipod/Iphone. This model is equipped to carry 'NINE' yes nine people in total and what better a way to carry yourself and your loved ones than in this awesome specimen of a LandRoversUK built machine. If you are a USA based buyer looking for the highest quality Land Rover Defenders, please take 5 minutes to read this advert in full. We are a multi-award winning Land Rover Defender sales specialist with a stock of around 30 vehicles available for purchase now...

1) Why you haven't yet found the Defender you are looking for...
Unfortunately it is not possible to buy a new Land Rover Defender in the United Sates. The Defender does not meet current United States Department of Transportation (DOT) or Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) manufacturing standards. A few thousand units were manufactured for the North American market in the early to mid 1990s but, since this time, DOT and EPA regulations have changed and Land Rover have taken the decision not to, due to the prohibitive cost, redesign the Defender simply to satisfy North American requirements. Therefore new Land Rover Defenders have not been available in the United States since 1996.

2) So what is the law if you want to import a Defender...
In order to import any Defender in to the United States, the vehicle must be at least 25 years old and the engine must be an authentic Land Rover engine that is at least 21 years old (this means you CANNOT import vehicles with the modern TD5 or TDCi Land Rover engines). These import rules apply because any 25 year old vehicle is considered a classic car in the USA and subsequently it is officially exempt from all DOT and EPA regulations. The vehicle must be 25 years or older to bypass all DOT regulations and the engine must be 21 years or older to bypass all EPA regulations. If a Defender is younger than 25 years of age or it had been fitted with an engine younger than 21 years of age it would also - in order to be imported - need to be customised to comply with all current DOT and EPA requirements (this would include the re-design of the engine bay to create an impact crumple zone, the replacement of the engine with an EPA approved engine, the replacement of the dash board to allow the installation of air bags, and a long list of other expensive alterations that would require a fundamental re-design of the vehicle... this is exactly why Land Rover have not re-designed the Defender for the North American markets). The following information regarding vehicle import is copied directly from current DOT import policy:

"Overview of DOT Import Requirements for Vehicles and Engines

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards Exclusions

Section 8. Importing a vehicle that is at least 25 years old.

A motor vehicle that is at least 25 years old can be lawfully imported into the U.S. without regard to whether it complies with all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). Such a vehicle would be entered under Box 1 on the HS-7 Declaration form to be given to Customs at the time of importation. You should note that the 25 year period runs from the date of the vehicle's manufacture."

Section 3: EPA Exclusions

A vehicle is exempted (from all EPA requirements) if it has been 21 years or more since its original production year and it is in its original unmodified condition. Upon entry, the importer must file an EPA Form 3520-1 with Customs and declare code "E" on the form.

3) So what can you Import to the USA...
The term "original unmodified condition" used above has been formally defined by U.S Customs as a vehicle that: "has not been significantly altered from its original key structural or mechanical configuration". This means that a vehicle can be sympathetically restored, repaired or reconditioned but that it CANNOT be fundamentally altered. You cannot import a vehicle that has a contemporary engine (unless that engine is formally approved by the EPA); a replacement chassis; an automatic transmission conversion, a modernised drive or suspension system, or that has been converted from right hand drive to left hand drive. If you do, the vehicle can be rejected, indefinitely impounded, or even destroyed by United States Customs (and, as the importer, it is you that will be liable for the loss).

What you can legitimately do is import a vehicle that has its original chassis, original transmission, is in its original left hand drive or right hand drive configuration (evidenced by an official Land Rover Certificate of Conformity), and that has a Land Rover production engine manufactured at least 21 years ago. You can update, repair, and restore bodywork, paint work, trim and upholstery and you can repair, recondition or restore (not significantly upgrade) the original mechanical components of the vehicle. You can fit 'bolt on' external equipment - such as roof racks or spot lights - but you cannot install integrated modern technologies such as built in satellite navigation or reverse parking cameras.

4) Buying a Land Rover Defender from us...
Land Rovers UK Ltd specialise in sourcing the very finest 25 year old Land Rovers that are - IMPORTANTLY - sitting on a genuine, original, clean, corrosion-free, authentic chassis (with the original Land Rover VIN number officially stamped on it) and that are powered by an authentic, genuine Land Rover engine of the correct era (with the correct engine number officially stamped on it). We can supply factory-fitted left hand drive or right hand drive Defender 90 or 110 models with between 2 and 12 seats. We can supply diesel or gasoline variations and we can supply original cloth interiors or bespoke luxury modern interiors. All our vehicles will have manual transmissions but can be converted by you to automatic transmission once the vehicle has passed through US Customs.

We tirelessly restore our USA vehicles to the highest cosmetic and mechanical standard and then we finish them to your personal specification. We will professionally repair body and paint work, fully mechanically recondition the vehicle, refurbish or up-date the interior upholstery and trim, and fit any additional 'bolt on' equipment or accessories that you require. It is worth noting that the design of the Defender has barely changed in 30 years so you lose out on very little buying a 25 year old vehicle instead of a 5 year old vehicle!

Finally, we follow the correct process to remove the vehicles from the UK registry, coordinate the transportation of the vehicle to UK port of departure, complete the outgoing customs clearance and vehicle loading, and ship the vehicle to your closest mainland U.S. port for you or your appointed Customs Agent to import and collect.

5) What you need to do when importing a vehicle...
All Land Rover Defenders sold by our company will be subject to a 2.5% duty upon U.S importation which you will need to pay separately to U.S Customs along with approximately c. $150 in customs clearance administration fees, $400 on bond fees, $125 on EPA/DOT fees, and - depending on your port of entry - a small charge for harbour maintenance fees. You will also need to arrange for, and meet the cost thereof, any registration process that is required within your home State (you should discuss this with your official State vehicle registration agency).

If you would like to appoint a U.S based Customs Clearance Agent to coordinate the importation on your behalf, or if you would like any further information about the customs or importation process, please contact:

Jaguar appoints Joe Eberhardt as North American President

Thu, 19 Dec 2013

Jaguar Land Rover North America has appointed a new president, Joachim Eberhardt. The German exec, 50, had previously done stints at Chrysler Group, DaimlerChrysler UK, Mercedes-Benz USA and Daimler-Benz.
Eberhardt joins JLR NA in a good, but challenging time for the company. It's fresh off the launch of the Range Rover Sport and Jaguar F-Type, which have been subject to rave reviews, and its overall sales are up 21 percent over 2012. Still, as Automotive News points out, the two manufacturers face a fight to become the equal of A-list competitors like BMW and Mercedes in the eyes of consumers.
"Joe brings a proven industry track record and valuable global leadership experience in luxury sales, service and marketing. We look forward to Joe leading our North American team in working with our retail networks to further grow the business and better serve our customers," JLR's group sales operations director, Andy Goss, said.

Is Jaguar's 3 Series-fighter the brand's last chance?

Wed, 16 Oct 2013

The upcoming line of compact 3 Series-fighters from Jaguar, often referred to as the Jaguar XS, could consist of a sedan, wagon and possibly a coupe and GT model (think BMW 5 Series GT). The car's all-aluminum architecture also will provide the basis for two new sports utility vehicles. Just how important is the much-touted "baby Jag" project to parent company Jaguar Land Rover? A JLR executive reportedly says the brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS, codenamed X760, Autocar reports.
The brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS.
"If the X760 fails, it will probably be the end for the [Jaguar] brand," the executive says. But Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, claims Jaguar will "build the most advanced, most efficient, most refined car in that [compact luxury sedan] segment. Not almost as good as, but better than the best in the world."

Jaguar Land Rover puts the freeze on wounded soldier-athletes [w/video]

Mon, 21 Jul 2014

For athletes, the cold is often a powerful ally in treating injures, with RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation) a popular means of treating muscle pulls, bruising and other common forms of discomfort. Did you know, though, that frosty temps are also popular tools for simply recovering from a rough training session?
Well, we're guessing Jaguar Land Rover knew that, as the British company was kind enough to loan out its climactic testing chamber to Jaco van Gass and Luke Darlington, a pair of veterans wounded in their service to Queen and Country. Van Gass, a former private in the Royal Army, and Darlington, a Royal Marine, are attempting to earn a spot on the British Armed Forces cycling team for the upcoming Invictus Games.
The Games, inspired by the Warrior Games held in the United States, are a sporting competition reserved for injured servicemen and women, either active duty or veterans, and is slated to take place from September 10 to 14 in London's former Olympic venues. Van Gass lost his left arm below the elbow after getting hit by a rocket-propelled grenade (he also suffered from a collapsed lung, punctured internal organs, severe shrapnel and blast wounds, a broken tibia and a fractured knee). Darlington, meanwhile, suffered a traumatic brain injury during action in Afghanistan, and he now suffers from weakness in his right side and cognitive issues.
