One of a kind rust free North American Spec '94 Land Rover Defender D90 with 120K miles, ZF automatic conversion and stock 3.9 V8. I have owned this truck since 07 and invested some $18K plus in the build.  The rig was being built for extreme off-road but still has the ability to run down the highway at 70 and fit in most garages with top lights folded down or back.  Body is in good condition with some minor scrapes at the back right quarter and a dent or ding here and there but is no way bashed.  Nose has been sprayed with Rhino liner as has the interior tub area.  Still missing some minor cosmetic things like body plugs, upper windshield trim strip, rear speakers and trims, but mechanically strong and sound.  I have 2 small leaks - one from the t-case and one from the oil cooler lines.  I will have both of these addressed before truck is purchased as I hate a leak of any kind like the next guy.  If you are looking for a pristine stock D90 this is not the rig but for the money, it is a much more unique and capable rig.  Truck does not have A/C but heater does work as do lights, radio, and wipers and top fully removes or bimi top can be left on.  I equipped the truck with a pull out lockable tuffy storage box in the rear for secure transport of firearms, ammo, tools or spare parts.  I also have the factory rear bench, high mount brake light bar and factory grille which are included.  There is no rust on the frame though a few brackets attached to the frame show so rust.  Pans, tub and bulk head in excellent shape as well.

Mods I haven't finished include spare tire mount, spacers for rear bumper-ettes, and installing a winch.  The spare tire could be mounted to the V brace in the back with the addition of a single cross bar and lug plate leaving the tire to rest against the V bar itself or the addition of an overhead basket and additional of limb risers.  Tire would be too tall to mount to the hood.  Running the 37's in extreme travel situations allows for the rear tires to rub the bumper-ettes.  They simply need to be spaced out another 2.5" back off the frame for tires to fully travel.  The equipe bumper is great and ready for winch.  I went with this bumper because of its extreme clearance and not necessarily for front end protection though the bar is very stout.  I read others reviews on the bumper with some suffering body/panel damage.  It functions exactly as I would have imagined, plowing saplings away from body and when approaching a crevice or boulder giving maximum approach vs other bumpers out there.  Its like anything else when it comes to off-roading - driver ability, knowing your rig, and proper configuration of your equipment.  A little extra clearance and travel is everything with a Land Rover.

Is Jaguar's 3 Series-fighter the brand's last chance?

Wed, 16 Oct 2013

The upcoming line of compact 3 Series-fighters from Jaguar, often referred to as the Jaguar XS, could consist of a sedan, wagon and possibly a coupe and GT model (think BMW 5 Series GT). The car's all-aluminum architecture also will provide the basis for two new sports utility vehicles. Just how important is the much-touted "baby Jag" project to parent company Jaguar Land Rover? A JLR executive reportedly says the brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS, codenamed X760, Autocar reports.
The brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS.
"If the X760 fails, it will probably be the end for the [Jaguar] brand," the executive says. But Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, claims Jaguar will "build the most advanced, most efficient, most refined car in that [compact luxury sedan] segment. Not almost as good as, but better than the best in the world."

Jaguar Land Rover creates new Special Operations division for halo vehicles, bespoke commissions

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

Jaguar Land Rover has announced that a new division of the British manufacturer will be dedicated to "bespoke commissions," as well as heritage products and apparel. Oh, and the new Special Operations division will also be behind JLR's halo cars from now on.
It's that last one that is the most tantalizing, as the last real halo product to see production from Jaguar was the XJ220. The Range Rover, meanwhile, has always had its own kind of halo reputation, although the Land Rover brand itself has never really gotten into the game with a dedicated model.
According to JLR, the new halo models will focus on ultra-high performance and luxury with a limited run of vehicles. The bespoke models, meanwhile, will give the wealthiest customers full sway over how vehicles are outfitted, with unique paints, trims and other accessories. The new SpecOps division will be run by John Edwards.

Jaguar and Land Rover to consolidate dealerships

Thu, 29 Nov 2012

Jaguar and Land Rover are set to merge their sales facilities, according to Inside Line. Jaguar Land Rover North America President Andy Gross says 45 percent of Jaguar owners also have an SUV in their stable, so it makes sense to give customers as much exposure to the cat's high-riding cousins and possible. The number of overall outlets will remain the same, and the brands will reportedly remain separate on the showroom floor, however.
So far, just one dealer has made the move to combine under the roof of one 68,000 square-foot facility in Paramus, New Jersey (above), though a further 20 are ready to make the shift and become Jaguar Land Rover outlets. Gross believes the shift is necessary so that his company's dealer network will accurately reflect the company's products. We'll see how cozy the brands are when Jaguar starts rolling out its own SUVs in a few years.
