Back up for sale (buyer failed to contact me after accepting his/her offer) is a beautiful, well maintained, AA
Yellow 1994 North American Spec (NAS) Land Rover Defender 90. Only 7,500 NAS D90’s were officially imported
(1994, 1995, and 1997), which makes them a highly sought after and iconic 4-wheel drive vehicle. This is a fun
vehicle, an impressive machine, and a piece of off-road history.
1994 Land Rover Defender, #1615
~124,000 miles (114K on the odometer, which was replaced after 10K miles)
3.9L V8 engine, 5 speed manual transmission, 4 wheel drive with center differential lock (not axle lockers)
Owned & self-maintained since 2008 – I’ve put less than 15K miles on it
Runs & drives great
Garage kept since I have owned it
AA Yellow Exterior – good shape for a 20+ year old vehicle- not perfect, but she cleans up nicely
Interior is clean and in good shape for age – front seats recently reupholstered with new foam and seat
skins. Rear seat skin recently repaired (picture prior to repair)
Minimal rust – rust is mainly on bolt on components (side steps, fuel tank guard, spare tire holder, trailer
hitch receiver)
Old Man Emu medium duty suspension (~1.5” lift)
Front & rear sway bar quick disconnects
Soft top replaced with OE top (Bestop)
Vehicle is in great shape for 20+ year old rig, but it is a used vehicle, and therefore it is being sold as-is,
with no implied warranty or guarantees
$48,500, or best offer. Serious inquiries only. I have the title in hand and prefer to do business in person,

Jaguar appoints Joe Eberhardt as North American President
Thu, 19 Dec 2013Jaguar Land Rover North America has appointed a new president, Joachim Eberhardt. The German exec, 50, had previously done stints at Chrysler Group, DaimlerChrysler UK, Mercedes-Benz USA and Daimler-Benz.
Eberhardt joins JLR NA in a good, but challenging time for the company. It's fresh off the launch of the Range Rover Sport and Jaguar F-Type, which have been subject to rave reviews, and its overall sales are up 21 percent over 2012. Still, as Automotive News points out, the two manufacturers face a fight to become the equal of A-list competitors like BMW and Mercedes in the eyes of consumers.
"Joe brings a proven industry track record and valuable global leadership experience in luxury sales, service and marketing. We look forward to Joe leading our North American team in working with our retail networks to further grow the business and better serve our customers," JLR's group sales operations director, Andy Goss, said.
Jaguar Land Rover building new Special Vehicle Operations facility
Sun, 17 Aug 2014It's only been a couple of months since Jaguar Land Rover announced the formation of its new Special Operations division, and we've already seen a number of vehicles to come out of it. But now the British automaker has announced a new facility that will house its elite skunkworks department.
Set to be built at Prologis Park in Ryton, England, on the outskirts of Coventry, the new Special Vehicle Operations Technical Centre will encompass dedicated production lines, F1-style flexible workshops, a dedicated paint studio and VIP suite for commissioning bespoke projects. JLR will spend some $33 million on the facility that will be home to 150 specialists - 100 of them being new hires.
The first project which the Special Operations division is working on is the F-Type Project 7, but we've already seen more projects in the pipeline - including the upcoming Range Rover Sport SVR - and you can bet there'll be more. The revival of the Lightweight E-Type also falls under Special Operations, but is undertaken by the Jaguar Heritage department located nearby at Browns Lane.
This Or That: 1987 VW Vanagon Syncro vs. 1987 Land Rover Defender [w/poll]
Thu, 13 Nov 2014As I scoured auction sites and classified ads for the perfect vehicle to take into battle with Autoblog Associate Editor Brandon Turkus, I knew I needed to find something unique. You see, I'm currently 0-2 at winning a round of This or That, in which two of our editors agree on a category, choose a side, and argue it out over a (mostly) friendly chain of emails.
The first time we did this, my chosen Fiat 500 Abarth took about a third of the popular vote in our reader poll. The second time, my lovely 1980 Oldsmobile 442 did just a little bit better against a 1989 BMW 635 CSi. Despite holding the opinion that my automotive choices, though perhaps a little bit more... obscure than my fellow editors, are still better, an outright win would go a long way toward boosting my vehicular self worth a few notches upward.
With all of that out of the way, even if three isn't my lucky number after all, I go into battle against Brandon knowing full well that I've made the perfect choice: A 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Syncro. My rough-and-tumble van/'ute has a formidable opponent in the form of a 1987 Land Rover Defender, which, truth be told, is exactly what I was expecting from Turkus, a self-proclaimed Rover aficionado.
