Angus is a 1988 V8 3.5L, 5 speed, RHD. Registered in TN, clear title.  DOT/EPA exempt.   New: starter, ignition switch, alternator, NAPA battery, coil, NKG sparks, spark wires and distributor, Mobile1 oil and Bosch filter, waterproof seat covers, 41" LED light bar, LED bulbs, LED 3rd Brake light, lens, wiper motor, LED work light (not installed), door guts, outside door handles, door locks, window cranks, snorkel (not installed), 2 spare tire covers, mud flaps, sill, hood and wing protectors, CB and front bumper antenna and more.

Most parts replaced still work and included.  Spare bulbs, oil and fuel filters, fuses.  Many spares and parts included - see picture.  No rust found on frame or outriggers.  Bulkhead looks good.  Four jump seats in rear.  All seats in VG condition, no rips or tears, no big stains.  Factory carpet and mats.  Headliners in great condition.  Factory sunroof.  Only 4 owners.

Needs Sorting: Wipers, installed new motor but that was not issue.  Something was unplugged behind dash while installing the new ignition switch.  Some dash plastic needs replacing, not expensive parts.  Passenger and rear door bottoms have some rust holes.  Easy fix when needed, parts through RoversNorth.  Engine temp guage throws right at start - guage or sender

V8 runs very smooth.  Easy to get parts in US, same engine as 1988 Range Rover.  Got the starter at Autozone (life time warranty)  Mileage believed to be correct - spent most of its life on the very small Jersey Channel Island in English Channel.  SU carbs seem to be well tuned and balanced.  Quite clean for age.

Brakes are disk up front and drums in rear.  Off road tires have lots of tread.   Painted black (from blue-grey) in the UK.  Snorkel and work light not installed because buyer may not prefer.  The snorkel is for a 300tdi but can be modified for V8.  Got a great deal on it, so bought it.

Last pic is with grill guard and standard spotlights on light bar.  All included with sale

Going high-tech, the 4x4 way

Is It An Off-Road Adventure Or Just A Walk In The Park?
I remember having to get out and lock hubs and shift into neutral to engage low range.
Coming off press previews of the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover and the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that involved some heavy-duty off-road rock climbing, I'm simply amazed at the capabilities that these vehicles possess. But even more impressive (or troubling depending on your perspective) is the relative ease with which you can operate these vehicles in seemingly impossible terrain.

Land Rover knows where you're going and how you want to get there

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

Land Rover makes some of the most capable SUVs on or off the road, and some of the most luxurious too. But the British automaker isn't about to rest on those laurels - not when every other automaker assaults its territory with sport-utes of their own. That's why Land Rover has been working so hard on nifty new technologies from a depth-sounder in the door mirror of the Range Rover Sport an augmented-reality head-up display that makes the whole front of the car virtually disappear.
JLR's newest tech may not be ground-breaking, but its integration promises to make driving around town that much easier. The system syncs with the driver's smartphone and uses all manner of parameters - including driver habits, weather and location as well as the presence of other passengers - to make the commute go as smoothly as possible. Get into the car and it'll set the seat and mirrors for you. No big deal, because lots of cars do that. But it'll also set up the nav system to take you to work and the sound system to play your favorite music. Okay, getting more interesting.
Get in with your kids and it'll know not only that you've got to drop them off at school first (or remind you to pack their gym bag if they've got soccer practice after school that day) but that they might not enjoy that Chumbawamba album you've been listening to since college and it'll play something it knows you'll all enjoy based on your listening history. Then it'll switch back to Tubthumping once the kids are out, remind you of your morning meeting and alert those you're scheduled to meet with if you get stuck in traffic while finding you a better route to get there, monitoring fuel levels all the while and telling you if you'll need to tank up before you reach your destination. It knows if you like calling your mother on the drive to work and will lower the air suspension to make it easier to hop out once you get there.

Jaguar crossover won't be based on Evoque or have off-road chops

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

Jaguar's long-rumored crossover won't be built on the same platform as the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, says the Australian site Car Advice. The future of the new CUV remains uncertain, but if Jaguar does dip its toes into the SUV/crossover pool, though, the new vehicle will likely be a car-based soft roader, lacking (or perhaps more appropriately, not needing) the off-road-engineered chops inherent in Land Rover's small CUV platform.
Jaguar product planner Steven De Ploey explained to Car Advice, "There's many groups around the world [platform sharing] - obviously Volkswagen Group is doing it all the time - but I think we have to be careful. He added, "Jaguar is something quite different... It's about capability, but very much on-road focused capability." That seems to gel with our suspicions that the XQ, as it's expected to be called, will share its platform with an upcoming small Jaguar sedan, the oft-rumored X-Type successor.
Still, we'd recommend taking any mention of a Jaguar crossover with a grain of salt. Based on many of the (quite compelling) statements made by De Ploey against a Jag crossover and previous statements made by Jag's design boss, Ian Callum, the case against a leaper-bearing crossover seems strong. If a high-rider were to arrive from Jaguar, though, the article insinuates that it'd be more in line with the BMW X6 or upcoming X4 - sort of a coupe-based crossover. Like we said, grain of salt. If a Jag crossover is going to arrive soon, the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show is the most likely locale for its debut. We'll find out in a few weeks.
