1986 Land Rover Defender 110 200 Tdi Diesel. RHD.

Very good example of the original Land Rover with the best engine to have in these - the 200 Tdi. Turbocharged/Intercooled.  28-30mpg, 70mph on the highway.

Recently fully serviced with all fluids changed and a new cam-belt on the engine. Professionally done with receipt to prove. Very solid throughout with no welding on the frame, all original. Bulkhead in excellent shape - no rust. Starts and drives very well. Recent new steering box, wheel bearing and tailgate cables. Interior in good shape, no tears in the seats. No smoke or odd noises from the engine. Runs smooth. Electric fan. Gearbox shifts as it should with no issues. Matching BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires with deep tread (these tires work great on this truck).

Would benefit from an underseal and the drivers door needs a new door stop fitted (have part). There are also some (very) minor & mostly cosmetic things that could be done to improve the vehicle. Plan to do these things if I get time or if I end up keeping it... leaks or rather 'seeps' a little oil - but nothing serious.

I have done over 2000 miles in this truck in the last couple of months and not had any issue with it. Gets lots of attention and I love it.... does everything and goes everywhere. The only reason I am considering selling it is I have a Land Rover 90 project that I would rather put all my resources into. If it does not sell I will just keep it and spare myself the regret of selling it! ...It is definately the best Land Rover I have ever owned.

CA DMV registered with no issues. Smog exempt etc. Feel free to e-mail me for further info or specific pictures. Viewing welcome.

Please note: this is a 1986 year model. The automated ebay system titles it as a 1980.

Jaguar Land Rover and Chery investing in Chinese plant

Sat, 24 Nov 2012

While the European auto market for Jaguar and Land Rover is waning, Chinese car buyers can't get enough of the British marques. To meet that demand, Tata Motors, parent company of Jag and Land Rover, is partnering with Chinese automaker Chery Automobile Co.
The two announced plans to invest $1.75 billion to build a new plant and create a new, China-focused brand. 2014 is the target for completion of the factory. Jaguars and Land Rovers built at the facility will be the first ever produced outside the UK according to the Associated Press. The JV will be called Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Company Ltd.
The announcement comes less than a month after JLR announced it would open a design studio in China. It's not clear from the reports whether the two announcements are part of the same JV or two separate plans.

Jaguar and Land Rover to consolidate dealerships

Thu, 29 Nov 2012

Jaguar and Land Rover are set to merge their sales facilities, according to Inside Line. Jaguar Land Rover North America President Andy Gross says 45 percent of Jaguar owners also have an SUV in their stable, so it makes sense to give customers as much exposure to the cat's high-riding cousins and possible. The number of overall outlets will remain the same, and the brands will reportedly remain separate on the showroom floor, however.
So far, just one dealer has made the move to combine under the roof of one 68,000 square-foot facility in Paramus, New Jersey (above), though a further 20 are ready to make the shift and become Jaguar Land Rover outlets. Gross believes the shift is necessary so that his company's dealer network will accurately reflect the company's products. We'll see how cozy the brands are when Jaguar starts rolling out its own SUVs in a few years.

Jaguar appoints Joe Eberhardt as North American President

Thu, 19 Dec 2013

Jaguar Land Rover North America has appointed a new president, Joachim Eberhardt. The German exec, 50, had previously done stints at Chrysler Group, DaimlerChrysler UK, Mercedes-Benz USA and Daimler-Benz.
Eberhardt joins JLR NA in a good, but challenging time for the company. It's fresh off the launch of the Range Rover Sport and Jaguar F-Type, which have been subject to rave reviews, and its overall sales are up 21 percent over 2012. Still, as Automotive News points out, the two manufacturers face a fight to become the equal of A-list competitors like BMW and Mercedes in the eyes of consumers.
"Joe brings a proven industry track record and valuable global leadership experience in luxury sales, service and marketing. We look forward to Joe leading our North American team in working with our retail networks to further grow the business and better serve our customers," JLR's group sales operations director, Andy Goss, said.
