1982 Classic Green Land Rover Series Iii Diesel 4 Wheel Drive Low Mileage on 2040-cars

Year:1982 Mileage:81506
Location:

Haydenville, Massachusetts, United States

Haydenville, Massachusetts, United States

VIN number was created in US because vehicle was not originally made for US market.  It is a clear title in Massachusetts with a VIN number SALLBAAH1AA159694.

This baby is a classic utility vehicle.  I bought it a year ago and would love to keep it but cannot afford to keep two vehicles.  It was bought and imported from England at that time with just 79,000 original miles on it.  The owner in the states just drove it for a month or so and got updates but then sold it because the friend he had in mind for it got very ill.  I bought it on ebay and had a great buying experience.   It has new high end Michelin tires and rims (just one year old), a 6-year battery put in by my local foreign car mechanic just two months ago, and it has been maintained well and routinely.  Brakes are great; all parts are working well.  Also a year ago, a full transmission service was done, and new hoses were put in place as well as a new fan belt.
I have maintained it with oil changes and the use of good quality diesel fuel.

The Landy starts well in all kinds of weather.  This winter in New England was very cold, and I had no problems.  4 wheel drive is easy and works very effectively.  This is not a gussied-up Defender.  Most of the parts are original and utilitarian.   The front bench seat was replaced by bucket seats before I bought it.  The seats are very comfortable and there is great console space between them.  The rear has one original bench on one side and the metal part on the other side can take another bench if you like.  The spare tire is full size and never used.
It is a right-drive vehicle which is perfectly legal in every state.  The previous owner placed the left outside mirror a bit lower so the driver can see the middle line on the road easily.  I find it easy to handle.  It is a looker, and people are often curious and happy to see it on the road.  It is up to date on inspection and license and is ready to go!

Once a sale is made, I require a cashier's check of $1,000 non-refundable to hold the vehicle.  The remainder may be paid at time of pick up.  Buyer arranges shipping.  Seller will be flexible and available for shipping times and days.

Jaguar crossover won't be based on Evoque or have off-road chops

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

Jaguar's long-rumored crossover won't be built on the same platform as the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, says the Australian site Car Advice. The future of the new CUV remains uncertain, but if Jaguar does dip its toes into the SUV/crossover pool, though, the new vehicle will likely be a car-based soft roader, lacking (or perhaps more appropriately, not needing) the off-road-engineered chops inherent in Land Rover's small CUV platform.
Jaguar product planner Steven De Ploey explained to Car Advice, "There's many groups around the world [platform sharing] - obviously Volkswagen Group is doing it all the time - but I think we have to be careful. He added, "Jaguar is something quite different... It's about capability, but very much on-road focused capability." That seems to gel with our suspicions that the XQ, as it's expected to be called, will share its platform with an upcoming small Jaguar sedan, the oft-rumored X-Type successor.
Still, we'd recommend taking any mention of a Jaguar crossover with a grain of salt. Based on many of the (quite compelling) statements made by De Ploey against a Jag crossover and previous statements made by Jag's design boss, Ian Callum, the case against a leaper-bearing crossover seems strong. If a high-rider were to arrive from Jaguar, though, the article insinuates that it'd be more in line with the BMW X6 or upcoming X4 - sort of a coupe-based crossover. Like we said, grain of salt. If a Jag crossover is going to arrive soon, the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show is the most likely locale for its debut. We'll find out in a few weeks.

Jaguar Land Rover opens first overseas factory in China

Wed, 22 Oct 2014

Anyone who's a car fan knows that Jaguar and Land Rover cars and trucks all come from the UK. And while we don't doubt that will remain true for the most part, it won't be an absolute truth for long, as the British automaker has just opened its first factory overseas.
Its new plant in Changshu, China, is the result of a $1.8-billion joint venture between JLR and local automaker Chery. It covers some 4.3-million square feet and will, once at peak capacity, produce 130,000 units specifically for the Chinese market, where JLR sells over 100,000 vehicles each year to make it the company's single largest market worldwide.
Production at what's officially known as the Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Company will start with the Evoque, of which one in five globally are currently sold in China. Production will eventually encompass three models. We already know that the Discovery Sport will be next, but the third model line has yet to be announced. JLR has confirmed, however, that the Changshu plant will produce unique models and derivatives specifically for the Chinese market, so we wouldn't be surprised to see a long-wheelbase version of the forthcoming XE or next-generation XF assembled there to satisfy local tastes.

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception

Tue, 25 Sep 2012

It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
