Up for sale is one of my favorite toys.  It is a 1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ with a 4BT Cummins Turbo Diesel.

I started the conversion in 2007 and kept a detailed log on a forum along the way.  You read about it here:  http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/showthread.php?710-4bt-Jeep-YJ&highlight=joxxi  Hopefully it will give some insight into the history of the build so you can make an informed decision on the purchase.

If you read the build-up, literally every part of the chassis was replaced or rebuilt with the exception of the steering box.  The rig currently has 19,546 miles on the odometer since the body off build.  Here are the general specs:

  • Body & Chassis:  1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ
  • Engine:  Cummins 4BT with the HY-35 Turbo Upgrade
  • Transmission:  Chevrolet TH-400 3-Speed Automatic
  • Transfer Case:  New Process NP-203
  • Front Axle:  Dana 44, 6-Lug, Manual Lock Hubs, 2.73 Ratio
  • Rear Axle:  Ford 8.8, 5-to-6 Lug Adapters, 2.73 ratio
  • Brakes:  Hydroboost, 4-Wheel Disc
  • Wheels:  15" x 10" ION 138
  • Tires: 33" x 15.5" x 15" Mickey Thompson Radial Baja Claw

I set the Jeep up for basically for cruising around .  It is not a rock crawler and I didn't go off-roading in it.  I had Quads for that purpose.  There are some additional items I'm selling with the Jeep.  They are as follows:

  • Soft Top, and Mounting Hardware,
  • Soft Half Doors
  • Mirrors for when doors are removed
  • Bikini Top
  • Cover
  • Original Cummins Turbo
  • Any Parts left from the conversion

As you can see in the pictures.  The body has some rust on it and some small dings.  The right front fender needs replaced.  I'd hoped to get it painted.  But, honestly I just don't have the time I used to for projects.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.  I will try to answer them quickly and honestly as possible.  Just don't ask what the reserve is.  Thanks for your interest!

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Choose Your Own Adventure... But Choose Wisely
Jeep has got you covered. We can say this without even having to know what it is you want, because there's hardly an option or configuration that you won't find in the 2014 Grand Cherokee. There are three different engines, three different four-wheel-drive systems (plus rear-wheel drive), four different trim levels - not counting SRT - two different suspension setups and five different settings for various off-road terrain conditions. If you happen to check the box for Quadra-Lift, you'll also have five different ride-height settings for the driver-selectable air suspension.
As you might expect with so many customization possibilities, the way a buyer checks the options sheet can have a profound effect on the final product and its capabilities, to say nothing of its price. Nowhere is that more true than with the Grand Cherokee's choice of engines, with the brand-new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 stealing the spotlight from the still excellent gasoline-fueled 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi V8 powerplants that carry over from last year. No matter which engine you choose, though, it will be paired up with Jeep's new standard eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF. This, ladies and gentlemen, is very good news indeed.

Jeep leads list of 25 most patriotic brands

Thu, 04 Jul 2013

It's not unusual to feel extra patriotic this time of year, what with the Fourth of July being today and all. As if to celebrate, New York-based research firm Brand Keys conducted a study among 4,500 consumers about what brands they find to be the most patriotic. According to the Detroit Free Press, Jeep took top honors in this study, besting other American stalwart brands including Coca-Cola, Levi's and Hershey's.
Interestingly, the only other automotive brand to make the list was Ford, in the 16th spot (motorcycle fans take note - Harley-Davidson claimed the No. 13 slot). This means consumers found Jeep to be more patriotic than any of the brands in the General Motors portfolio, including Chevrolet, which has long used American themes in its advertising over the decades.
According to Brand Keys, Jeep came in "with a score of 98 out of 100 on a scale representing consumers' emotional engagement expectations," the Detroit Free Press reports. Be sure to read the report to scan the entire Top 25 list for yourself.

NHTSA investigating why Jeep recall fix is taking so long

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

Jeep's saga with the National Traffic Safety Administration and the voluntary campaign to repair 1.56 million vehicles for allegedly unsafe trailer hitches, is getting yet another chapter. The controversy appeared to finally be over in January when the automaker found a supplier for the replacement parts. Nothing is ever that easy, though, and the government regulator is now requesting documents from the company to clarify why the repairs are taking so long to begin.
Jeep parent company Chrysler has until July 16 to submit documents and answers to NHTSA explaining the situation. The regulator claims that despite its compromise to inspect and repair the models with improper hitches in June 2013, Chrysler didn't find a part supplier until December and didn't order the replacements until January. The government agency believes that the first components weren't manufactured until May of this year and vehicles may not actually be repaired until as late as August. According to the report, if the Chrysler doesn't supply what NHTSA is asking for, the agency could "take additional appropriate action as warranted."
Throughout this entire process, Chrysler has asserted that the vehicles met the applicable crash test standards of the time, and it has kept NHTSA abreast of the repair activity. In a recently released statement it said that the regulator analyzed eight rear impact reconstruction tests and found the replacement hitch to be safe. To keep up with the high demand for replacements, Chrysler is working with multiple suppliers, and they are running three shifts, six days a week to get the parts ready as soon as possible.
