About my Jeep: It's a 1997 Jeep Wrangler (TJ). This jeep is my daily driver and is almost completely stock. It has 1.5" spacers on the springs so that 31" tires will fit but that's not the size currently on it. The tires are in very good condition. It has stock wheels. This is a 4.0 liter, 6 cylinder / 5 spd manual transmission Jeep with cold A/C and hot heat! Makes this Jeep much more user friendly for a daily driver! I have driven it all over and have no concerns about it's reliability. It had the radiator, water pump and all hoses replaced within the last year. It also has a new distributor cap and rotor. New muffler and fuel pump March 2014. 4WD works as it should with no issues of any kind. The top is a couple of years old but has no damage and looks good. It only has the soft top and soft half doors (lower doors are steel). Soft top is only a couple of years old and has tinted windows in the rear. Paint is original and is starting to show it's age but is completely passable.  I'd call it a "20 footer".  It's got rock chips and such but no dents.   A good detail man could bring most of it back (except the two faded spots on the hood.)   This Jeep has ABSOLUTELY NO RUST ANYWHERE.

The pictures in this ad are all very recent so they accurately represent what the Jeep looks like.

To the best of my knowledge, I am the third owner.  It still has the dealer sticker on it from '97 so I sure it's never been painted.

The seats are in good shape (no rips, burns or stains). The carpet is showing its age and could use replacement.

It has an aftermarket stereo head unit in it with aftermarket speakers in the stock sound bar.

The only real negative on the Jeep is the windshield is cracked. Has been since I bought it.

Current mileage is just over 150k but changes because this is my daily driver.

Chrysler, Nissan looking into claim that their cars are industry's most hackable

Sun, 10 Aug 2014

A pair of cyber security experts have awarded the ignominious title of most hackable vehicles on American roads to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, 2014 Infiniti Q50 and 2015 Cadillac Escalade.
Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek are set to release a report at the Black Hat hacking conference in Las Vegas, Automotive News reports. The two men found the Jeep, Caddy and Q50 were easiest to hack based not on actual tests with the vehicles, but a detailed analysis of systems like Bluetooth and wireless internet access - basically, anything that'd allow a hacker to remotely gain access to the vehicle's systems.
Considering this lack of hands-on testing, the pair acknowledge that "most hackable" could be a relative term - they point out that the vehicles may actually be quite secure.

Jeep Liberty replacement takes shape

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Now that the Liberty has left us for greener pastures, it's time to start looking into the future of the midsize Jeep model. The next all-new vehicle for the off-road brand will be the SUV you see here, effectively replacing the Liberty, and not necessarily carrying on with that name.
From the sides, the prototype you see here sort of looks like a miniature version of the handsome Grand Cherokee, albeit with a bit more in the way of body sculpting. Up front, the seven-slat grille will be front and center, with completely revised headlamp designs that are reportedly angular and sweep well into the front fenders (you can sort of see what we're talking about in the side profile). That doesn't sound very Jeep-like, but we'll reserve judgment until we, you know, see the thing.
The bigger question with the Liberty replacement will be whether or not its off-road chops will be up to snuff. After all, the two previous generations of Liberty models were body-on-frame traditional SUVs, whereas this new Jeep rides on a larger version of the Dodge Dart platform.

Dirt Every Day tries to find the best 4x4 for under $4k

Mon, 25 Aug 2014

If you want to build a cheap truck that can still do dirty deeds off the beaten path, it's best to start with solid axles and a solid V8 engine. That sums up the lessons learned after watching the 2014 Cheap Truck Challenge from the Dirt Every Day video crew, who took to the deserts and surrounding areas near Reno, NV, in an attempt to find the best 4x4 for under $4,000. Fortunately for us, the whole sordid journey was captured on video.
This isn't the first time the boys from DED filmed a Cheap Truck Challenge, and this year's festivities pitted together a 1993 Chevy S10 pickup, a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 1975 International truck in a series of challenges ranging from donuts to drag races, with plenty of hill-climbing and rock-crawling action in between. We don't want to spoil all the fun, but suffice it to say one competitor was found to be lacking while the other two performed (mostly) well. See for yourself in the video above.
