1997 Jeep Wrangler on 2040-cars
Daytona Beach, Florida, United States
For Sale is a 1997 Jeep Wrangler 4cyl. 5-speed. It does NOT have ac. It has new Goodyear Wrangler mud tires. 33x12.5x15 on aftermarket steel wheels. It has a 4" lift kit and also has a SYE installed. The rear seal on the SYE is leaking but is a easy fix. The Jeep will also need new shocks including the steering stabilizer. It is a 97 and does have some of the typical rust. Top of drivers fender, and the bottom of the rollbar along with the floor at the base of the rollbar. I bought the Jeep about a month ago and gave myself a MAX budget as this was going to be a 3rd vehicle we really didnt need but I wanted. I looked for several months to find a good jeep in my budget but as anyone who has looked for Jeeps in Florida knows, they are pricey down here. This one was listed as needing a fuel pump, not a big deal in a jeep so I took the drive to go look at it. When I got there the guy started it up and it idle. Kind of through me off because if the pump was bad it shouldnt run, right??? So I figured this guy just wasnt mechanically inclined and I bought it. More then I wanted to spend, but I bought it anyway. Towed it home and went shopping. I knew it needed a top so I bought a Rampage soft top, sliders, and the parts for a tune-up. The next day I started working on the jeep and found several other problems. Leaking afterkmarket oil gauge, rusted rollbar, bad radiator, among other things. So I started replacing parts. After the tune-up it still would not run smooth so i checked the pump...bad. Ordered the complete pump assembly ( pump. both filters, sending unit, and pressure unit) and after installing it ran much better but not smooth still. Did some more digging and found the pressure sending unit on the power steering was bad so I bought a new one and installed. Now it runs good. The rust on the rollbar and the floor has been treated with TOTAL SOLUTIONS RUST CONVERTER several times and then sealed with body filler. Then the interior was coated with bedliner. If I was going to keep it i would replace the rollbar just for safety. At this point I have COMPLETELY blown my budget and need to sell the Jeep to keep from getting a divorce. Like I said it does need a few things but it is a good Jeep. Here is what i have done....
Tune-up ( plugs, wires, cap, rotor ) New radiator New water pump New complete fuel pump assembly New oil pressure sending unit New power steering pressure switch New serpentine belt Newer Rampage frameless soft top Newer Goodyear Wrangler tires 33x12.5x15 2005 Jeep Unlimited front seats Interior has been bedlined Also has a 4" lift...not sure what brand SYE.... again rear seal leaks. $12 fix Things I know it needs.... door uppers...the ones there are pretty worn all shocks SYE seal And the rollbar should be replaced. Not a big job. rollbars are on craigslist for $150-250. No seam sealer on 97 ( probably why it rusted) I have not driven the other then around the neighborhood. Like i said I blew my budget trying to get the thing running. I do have a title for it but I have not had it transferred into my name yet. It is going to cost me another $450 to do so, so I would like to sell it to someone that doesnt need it. Some states do not require a title after "X" number of years. If you buy the Jeep and need it I will get it for you but would prefer not to. |

Jeep Cherokee faces on-sale delay
Sat, 23 Mar 2013A report in The Wall Street Journal looks at some of the obstacles to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that go beyond its mootable yet "very contemporary" looks, almost all of them based on Fiat's financial position. Starting with that sheetmetal, in defense of it SRT president Ralph Gilles and Jeep design head Mark Allen said they wanted to "make sure the design still looks modern five years from now."
The WSJ piece doesn't cite longevity as a factor, instead saying that its features originated in a design for an Alfa Romeo, the transformation into a Jeep design meant allowing Chrysler get it to market more quickly and save "hundreds of millions of dollars" in engineering.
The need for Fiat to save money while it weathers the European situation has cut budgets for development, engineering and the pace of retooling the Toledo, Ohio plant to build the Cherokee. In a familiar case of snowballing at work, among the effects will be pushing back the Cherokee's volume sales date and delaying updates to some of Chrysler's other products.
Jeep Cherokee sales rival Wrangler after two months
Sun, 29 Dec 2013In our First Drive article on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee we said, "our informal and thoroughly unscientific opinion is they're going to sell tons of them. Why? Because it is very good." So far, it appears the public concurs. Of course, it's very early - the new compact utility has logged just one month of confirmed sales, but Larry Vellequette at Automotive News says dealers have told him that the second month of sales will be even better, a message that mirrors what we've heard from company execs.
In its first, severely truncated month on sale, the Cherokee sold 579 units. With all of November to play with, though, dealers moved 10,169 of them - compared to 11,753 Wranglers and 14,798 Grand Cherokees. That helped propel Jeep to a 30-percent year-on-year improvement for the month, Chrysler Group to a 16-percent improvement and the group's 44th consecutive month of sales growth, exceeding analyst expectations in posting its best November numbers since 2007.
If it can just keep replicating the its first month of sales, the finalist in North American Truck of the Year voting will smoke the trade done by the outgoing Liberty, which didn't break 7,900 units in a month in the last four years of its life (and normally didn't get close to even that). In March this year, Chrysler said it wants to build 250,000 Cherokees in its Toledo assembly plant for global sales. It's early yet, but with second-month sales quoted as being as "strong as death," the bookies might be resetting the odds.
Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango to lose color options temporarily
Wed, 19 Nov 2014In the market for a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Dodge Durango? Well, if you fancy a more expressive color for your new SUV, you'd better get your order in, or plan on waiting until well into 2015.
The SUVs will be limited to just four monochromatic shades - black, white, silver and gray - until at least February, thanks to an upgrade to the paint shop at the two vehicles' Jefferson North factory. For the Grand Cherokee, that means it's losing more than half its color palette while the Durango is dropping two-thirds of its color catalog.
The loss of colors is inconvenient, but the upgrade will have a slightly bigger effect on the overall supply of SUVs, as Chrysler will need to end its relentless build pace at the factory for a three-week shutdown starting on December 22. The good news for fans of the SUVs is that once the work is completed, we should see a gradual expansion of the color palettes for both the Durango and Grand Cherokee, beyond even what's offered now.
