1989 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4X4, Cummins 4BT Diesel 3.9liter, Ford truck 5 speed over drive transmission, Ford transfer case. Engine and transmission both rebuilt before installation, approx. 30,000 miles ago. This diesel conversion was done by a Caterpillar engineer. Engine, transmission, transfer case and all gauges work as they should. Stock front and rear YJ axles. 3" suspension lift. Tires are Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers 31 X 10.50 - 15 with about 70% tread on chrome wheels. Stainless steel tube bumpers and aluminum steps. Sound bar included but not installed. Roll bar, hard top and full doors as well as a bikini top go with it. Interior and seats are in good condition. This Jeep runs and drive good but it does drive like a lifted Jeep, if you're looking for Cadillac or a Lincoln keep looking but if you want a nice Jeep that is in great condition and gets great milage, look no more. This Jeep is well maintained and as you can see from the pictures is a sharp looking Jeep,  it turns heads everywhere it goes (especially when people hear the Cummins engine). It has won trophies at various local car and Jeep shows. Paint is in good condition every where except for on the plastic factory steps, mostly between the  step and the rear wheels (see pictures). Body is in excellent condition and has no rust or rust repairs and no dents, it has only minor scratches. All glass is good. We took this Jeep on a 1200 mile trip a few years ago and it averaged 32mpg.

Note: The Jeep is NOT a 4.2liter 6cyl. ebay would not let me list it without picking the standard 4 or 6 cylinder.  The color is listed as silver but as you can see it is not totally accurate, depending on how the light hits it, it may appear more puter or gold.

Jurassic Park made a big impact on these Jeep drivers

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

For a certain cohort of young folks, Jurassic Park is a touchstone film from their childhood. Not only did it play into practically every little boy's love of dinosaurs, the movie included some great action scenes and special effects that still hold up today. In its latest video, The Aficionauto takes a look the Jurassic Park Motor Pool, a California car club with over 40 fans who created replica vehicles from the iconic film.
The club is made up of an interesting cross-section of people. Many of them were Jeep Wrangler fans that already loved off-roading and Jurassic Park, and liked the idea of bringing them together. Like any close-knit club, it ends up being about community and people coming together to share their interests. It's quite a heartwarming video. Also, be sure to stay until the end because The Aficionauto teases a future Jurassic Park-themed vehicle. Scroll down to check out the motor pool.

Chrysler defies NHTSA, says it won't recall 2.7M Jeep Grand Cherokee, Liberty models

Wed, 05 Jun 2013

Facing a possible recall totaling around 2.7 million of its most popular SUVs, Chrysler remains insistent that the 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty are safe vehicles. This comes on the heels of a recall request from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for these two models due to fuel tanks mounted behind the rear axle, which could possibly be ruptured during severe rear-end collisions, leading to an increased risk of fire. In response to the allegations, Chrysler says that it does not agree with NHTSA nor does it plan on recalling either vehicle.
Chrysler said both SUVs "met and exceeded" the requirements for fuel-system integrity, and cooperated fully with NHTSA since the investigation was opened in 2010. While 15 deaths and 46 injuries have been reported from fires caused by rear-end collisions on these models, Chrysler is claiming that the vast majority of incidents cited by NHTSA were "high-energy crashes," including one where a stopped Grand Cherokee was rear-ended by a tractor trailer going 65 miles per hour.
The automaker wraps up by saying "NHTSA seems to be holding Chrysler Group to a new standard for fuel tank integrity that does not exist now and did not exist when the Jeep vehicles were manufactured." Scroll down for Chrysler's official response to NHTSA, but we're pretty sure this isn't the last we've heard on this issue.

Chrysler adding 200 jobs at Ohio Jeep Wrangler plant

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

Chrysler is betting that the Jeep Wrangler will continue its strong sales surge as it continues to push the legendary brand out across the globe. The Auburn Hills automaker is reportedly adding 200 workers at the Toledo, Ohio plant that builds the Wrangler. What's more, those new hires will be at their posts quickly - they'll be on the job by April 1. Of those 200 workers, 130 employees will be there to relieve those who need breaks.
Why do they need so many relief workers? The Toledo Jeep Complex is currently working at a torrid pace with two ten-hour shifts. A third shift has been ruled out for the moment because of a production botttleneck - the plant's paint shop is already maxed out. According to Reuters, Wrangler production in 2012 cleared 200,000 units, and US sales were up by 16 percent.
Another part of the Toledo plant is presently down as Chrysler retools the line to build Jeep's divisively styled Liberty replacement, the Cherokee (seen in our gallery below). Production for the new model is scheduled to begin toward the end of May.
