1983 Jeep CJ-7 titled, licensed & insured.

$17,500

It's been in two competitions total (Western, IA) and won the big tires class both times against many other nice rigs with bigger tires, tractor tires, Uni-Mog axles, tube buggies etc., so I would say it's a proven vehicle.
Been to Moab once, CO one the way back and a couple places in MO besides Iowa.

Frame off rebuild done about 8 years ago.
Over the course of time, I've probably spent over $35,000 on parts and hundreds and hundreds hours of labor to make this one of the best wheelin' Jeeps around and it is still streetable.
I just drove it to a Cruise night in June.
It would make a plus 75 MPH trip down the Interstate if you wanted to.
Its been wheeled only one time in the last 2 years, so that's the reason for selling.
Probably wheeled about 25 times since frame-off rebuild. Lots of life left in most everything!

YJ Wrangler Tub & Frame, CJ-7 tailgate, dash, grill, hood. etc.

Engine: AMC 401 V-8 rebuilt years back with approximately 5,000 miles on rebuild. GREAT ENGINE!

Induction: Howell TBI - Holley Throttle Body Injection with standard GM sensors etc.

Transmission: NP-435 Ford Truck 4-Speed with Novak Adaptor

Clutch: Centerforce Dual Friction (Top of the Line)

Front Axle: HP High Pinion Rock Crusher Dana 60 King Pin type, 4.10 gears with spare ring and pinion, ARB Air Locker, 35 Spline chrome moly inner and outer shafts plus complete set of extra spare 35 spline chrome moly shafts for spares & drive flanges, Dedenbear High Strength Dana 70 style/size inner "C"s, Dedenbear High Strength Dana 70 style/size outer knuckles, Off Road Design (or similiar) High steer Arms with (5) bolts per arm.

Front drive shaft: two piece with 1350 u-joints.

Rear Axle: Shaved 14 Bolt with Detroit Locker 4.10 gears with spare ring and pinion, disc brakes, dually hubs and extra set of single wheel hubs to make vehicle approximately 4" wider.

Rear drive shaft: High Angle Drivelines 1350 CV with 1410 rear U-joint

Transfer Case: Atlas II 4.3:1 ratio with Twin stick, 1350 outers on both ends

Tires: Super Swamper 42 x 16.5 x 15 with approximately 75% tread remaining, spare 42" Irok tire

Wheels: Stazworks Double Beadlock Wheels with thick poly insert, 16.5 x 9.75, Powder Coated, Pressed Centers, Rock Rings and Custom design.

Suspension: 3 Link wishbone Front with 4-Link Double Triangulated Rear, Johnny Joints, front 1/4" wall tube, rear lowers are 1/2" wall sleeved tube and have never bent. Rear connection has Blue Torch Fab style Brace. Jeep TJ springs front and rear. Long travel shocks.

Frame straightened in rear for clearance. Custom front of frame for lower integral winch mount.

Nearly 90 Degree approach and departure angles.

Crawl Ratio: 118:1 Awesome!

Wheel base: 110"

Width: 84" or so. Will fit on standard width car trailer. Mine has removable fenders, so I remove one to make it easier.

Probably close to 2' ground clearance and will still fit in standard garage door.

Winch: Warn HS-9500 High Speed. Used little as it still has the original steel cable on it and in good shape.

Steering: FULL HYDRO, Performance Off-Road Systems Double ended cylinder (ram), High volume pump with filter, Derale fan cooled power steering cooler & large tube protection for cylinder.

Interior: Best Top seats, driver tilts and adjust, rear fold and tumble. Cooler rack for two smaller coolers. Tilt gauge, hand throttle for hills and fast idle, remote interior winch control, console, Tool Storage boxes that double as arm rest.

On Board Air: Engine driven York air compressor that runs the ARB with tank to also run air tools

Roll Cage: Frame mounted & removable 8 point roll cage. Hard Top and Doors will fit with this cage. Head room for taller drivers and passengers.

Fuel Cell: 15 Gal. RCI (or similiar) fuel cell with vent to rear axle area for safety and double Walbro internal fuel pickups so it never starves for fuel even on a big sidehill.

Electrical: Stock Jeep wire harness, Howell TBI wire harness, 12 Volt Guy Dual Battery wiring with cab switch, currently only one Optima, but has battery box for second battery if desired, front and rear rock lights for night wheelin'. Wired up and has a big drop hitch if you want to haul your boat or jet ski to the lake.

Cooling System: Be Cool Radiator and dual electric fans on relays and switches.

Front Fenders: Customer Tube design with heavy gauge steel

Rear Fenders: Custom Tube design with heavy steel for protection

GMC boss wants a Jeep Wrangler rival

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

Challengers come and challengers go, but the Jeep Wrangler continues to push forward even after vehicles like the Toyota FJ Cruiser and the entire Hummer brand have been shut down. Now GMC reportedly wants to take a stab at the quintessential Jeep, as well.
The news comes directly from Buick-GMC vice president Duncan Aldred, speaking with our compatriots over at Edmunds. Although Aldred said there are no plans currently on the table to expand GMC's lineup beyond the current range, "there is plenty of room everywhere in the hierarchy."
That could include a rival to the Wrangler, as well as a flagship luxury SUV positioned above the current Yukon Denali (pictured above). Just when (or for that matter, if) such models might come into fruition remains a big question mark, but it's certainly interesting to see what GM's dedicated truck brand has on the drawing board.

Chrysler uses Super Bowl spots to honor troops, farmers

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

How do you follow up such revered and successful ads as Chrysler's last two Super Bowl commercials? Imported from Detroit and Halftime in America should be given credit for giving the automaker's public perception a complete overhaul after its rescue from the brink with taxpayer money. What next, then?
We just found out during Super Bowl XLVII. This year Chrysler went with two commercials, one for Jeep and the other Ram. The two-minute-long Jeep commercial, called Whole Again, is narrated by Oprah Winfrey and presented as an open letter to the service men and women of America, simply expressing admiration for what they do - poignant message coming from a company whose history is so entwined with that of the military's.
The Ram commercial, called Farmer, honors the agricultural backbone of this country. Its soundtrack is a speech entitled "So God Made a Farmer" given by the famous radio broadcaster Paul Harvey, which plays over a slideshow of original photography commissioned by Ram. The images, of course, focus on farming and the people who do it for a living, and there's a few Ram trucks in there, as well.

Europe gets Jeep Wrangler Polar limited edition

Wed, 04 Sep 2013

Jeep will be bringing an all-new, limited-edition model to the European market called the Wrangler Polar. Based on the Wrangler Sahara and set to make its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Wrangler Polar sports new Hyrdro Blue paint, gloss black 18-inch wheels, a body-color hardtop, and the regular mix of Mopar styling accessories. Billet Silver Metallic and Bright White are available for those that don't dig the glossy blue, while a two-door variant will be available in addition to the four-door pictured above.
The Polar's interior features similar tweaks; Pearl White contrast stitching can be found on both the seats and steering wheel, while ceramic White bezels and other accents give a nice contrasting look to the cabin.
Underhood sits an engine that should make American Wrangler enthusiasts weep - a 2.8-liter, four-cylinder turbodiesel. With 200 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque channeled through a five-speed automatic transmission, the Wrangler Polar should handle itself just fine on normal roads. British buyers will also be able to select the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. For rougher stuff, Dana axles can be found front and rear (Dana 30 up front and Dana 44 in back), while the Command-Trac four-wheel-drive system and its two-speed transfer case should be enough for when the roads disappear.
