This Jeep has been my trusted companion for 5 years now. He's got character, through and through. There's a lot of great things to say about him and some struggles also so lets jump right in.

The Good:
This car is awesome. It is a very limited model and really hard to find even on the internet these days. Its been kicking since 1988 and is still in pretty great looking shape. In the 5 years I've owned it I've replaced the speakers, fixed the breaks, replaced the muffler, replaced the coolant tank, replaced the started, and various other little tune ups.

The Bad:
The Jeep is getting old and shows it a bit in quirky ways. I don't think any of them couldn't be fixed if need be... The first is it overheats easily if idling for a long time... if your driving its fine though... the issue here is the front fan isn't running. The fan works... the electrical to it though does not switch properly. The car also can get into a shaking fit at higher speeds. This used to be a simple left to right vibration but has recently become a bit more forceful and would need to be looked at.

It has heat and a radio and good speakers and 4 wheel drive and a good heart. It's been an absolute blessing as a first car and if your into classic Jeeps you should give this one a look. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to come by and check it out.

Has over 200,000 miles now and still kicking. The tires are oversized which means off-roading is excellent.

I live in Lexington, not far from downtown and work at home so I'll be able to show the car during the day usually or at night. Also my number is 859-825-8496.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel and SRT climb onto stage

    Mon, 14 Jan 2013

This is indeed a case of not knowing how much we wanted something until it arrived. We've been big fans of the Jeep Grand Cherokee ever since the new model arrived a couple of years ago, and while the update you see here might seem just a slight refresh, it's actually much more than that.
For starters, the 2014 Grand Cherokee marks the return of a diesel model here in the States, with Chrysler's new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 under the hood, churning out 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Of course, all of the Grand Cherokee's usual off-road goodies are on hand, with moderate tweaks to make it an even more capable vehicle when the going gets rough. Both the gasoline-fed 3.6-liter V6 and 5.7-liter V8 get the new eight-speed auto, as well.
The high-performance Grand Cherokee SRT also trudges on into the new model year, with very subtle tweaks found underneath the aggressive, slightly redesigned sheetmetal. The 6.4-liter Hemi V8 also gets eight-speed gearing, which Chrysler says will improve not only 0-60 times, but mid-range performance as well. Bring it on, we say.

Chrysler axes old V6s, goes all-Pentastar

    Tue, 03 Sep 2013

Old technology has a way of lingering on, particularly at Chrysler headquarters in Auburn Hills. So while the Pentastar V6 has replaced the older engine architecture in just about every application, it still soldiered on in some export markets. But the introduction of a new 3.0-liter Pentastar V6, produced in Michigan and meant only for the Chinese market, has put the final nail in the old engine's coffin.
Fitted into the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Wrangler just introduced to China at the Chengdu Motor Show, the downsized six uses the same architecture as the larger 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. But because of its 2,997cc capacity, it can be exported to China without the increased duty the 3.6-liter or even 3.2-liter Pentastar engines would incur. The 3.0-liter V6 develops 230 horsepower at 6,350 rpm and 210 pound-feet at 4,400 rpm.
Admittedly, it's unlikely, but even though the engine was said to be created solely to undercut tax thresholds in China and Europe, the 3.0-liter Pentastar has recently surfaced in rumors of an application here: as the boosted heart of a potential Cherokee SRT with anywhere from 375 to 410 hp.

2015 Jeep Cherokee finds a bit more fuel mileage thanks to stop/start and aero tweaks

    Mon, 06 Oct 2014

Just a year after it burst onto the scene, Jeep has already made a pretty substantial addition to its V6-powered Cherokee, which has proven to be an extremely popular seller so far for the brand, adding a new stop-start system for the midsize, off-road-ready CUV.
The addition of stop-start included a few aerodynamic tweaks to the Cherokee's polarizing body, resulting in a wallet-pleasing increase in fuel economy. According to the EPA, the front-drive, V6-powered Jeep will now return 21 miles per gallon in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, up from 19 city and 28 highway. Four-wheel-drive, V6-powered Cherokees, meanwhile, will now return 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, up from 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg.
With 271 horsepower, 239 pound-feet of torque and these newly enhanced figures, it's refreshing to see a larger, naturally aspirated engine that is still able to take the fight to today's crop of small-displacement, turbocharged four-cylinders.
