I have for sale my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4. This is an excellent running driving SUV with TONS of life left in it. The Jeep will be described in better detail in the following paragraphs to give you as good of a description as possible. Starting with:

Exterior: I would rate the Jeep a 8.5/10. The only reason is an extremely small dent on the right of rear hatch that is very minor. Doing a walk around the Jeep other then the previously mentioned dent there is nothing that really stands out. Absolutely no signs of rust or corrosion whatsoever. No major scratches that are visible or dents other then specified. Rear tires have approx. 3,000 miles on them and front tires have about 1/2 tread.

Interior: Honestly, I give this interior a 9.5/10. It shows very, very minimal signs of wear none of which I would consider excessive. The cloth seats are really some of the most comfortable I've ever sat in. Heat blows hot and A/C very cold. All power options work exactly as they should with no buttons or knobs worn or missing. The sunroof, and door seals all are in proper working order and provide no leaks or abnormal wind noise. This jeep has no annoying rattles or sounds that are unexplained. It's very evident this Jeep has always been taken care of.

Mechanical: The Jeep runs and drives excellent.  Motor is strong and transmission smooth. 4x4 works great and comes with a fresh oil change and detail. When we purchased the Jeep one of the selling points was ALL the service records for it since 2005. ALL oil changes tire rotations, anything repaired was in the Jeep and nothing looks as though it was abnormal or anything more then routine maintenance. In the past year it has had:

All brake pads and rotors.

New Radiator Cap

New Fuel Cap

New Battery

Just your general standard maintenance has been performed as it looks and acts like that is all that has really been required of it.

The only reason we are selling the Jeep is that it is actually it is my wife and I's third vehicle. We purchased it to keep miles off of my lifted GMC and as a second 4x4 in the winter. SInce we purchased it we acquired another 4x4 from family as a farm truck and are honestly not in need of this Jeep anymore. I trust this Jeep and have used it as my daily driver with absolutely no issues. I trust my wife to drive it 35 miles one way to work, and would have no hesitation to hop in it and go across country. It averages around 18.5-19 MPG with very mixed driving. Just last week I drove it 145 miles round trip and averaged 20.9 MPG mainly highway. If we needed the vehicle we would not be getting rid of it. One of the 4x4's needs to go and this happens to be it for no other reason then our place beginning to look like a car lot with four vehicles and just 2 drivers. I challenge you to find one in this condition with this kind of miles. The mileage might go up slightly as it might be used on occasion no major increase. There is a loan that will be taken care of upon the vehicle being won. Upon auction ending I will agree to meet buyer within a reasonable distance for vehicle pick-up which will be discussed.

I have tried to be as honest and forthcoming as possible with this and if you have any questions whatsoever please contact me and I will reply ASAP. Thank you and happy bidding.

100,000 Jeep Cherokee models subject to further 9-speed recalibration

Thu, 29 May 2014

It seems that the software problems with the nine-speed automatic gearbox in the Jeep Cherokee continue to mount. The programming already caused multiple development delays and even postponed the Cherokee's market launch by roughly two months. Now, Jeep has issued another recalibration to hopefully assuage unhappy drivers.
According to Automotive News, this reflash for the allegedly jerky transmission covers over 100,000 Cherokees built before May 5, but it's not technically a recall. If owners are having problems and complain to the dealer, they get the new software. Otherwise, they continue with the current version. New vehicles on dealer lots also receive the latest revision to the programming. It takes only around five minutes to install, but technicians need to take the Cherokee on a test drive to adapt the gearbox to the changes.
The Cherokee's transmission software has been problematic practically since the beginning. The Jeep plant in Toledo, OH, briefly idled its second-shift workers last year to take care of the issue. Since the launch issues for the crossover, demand has been strong. Jeep added another 1,000 temporary workers to the Toledo factory to keep up, and sales were on par with the Wrangler in just its first two months.

2014 Jeep Cherokee: Introduction

Tue, 27 May 2014

When we look back at some of the more shocking product launches of recent yeras, the Jeep Cherokee is certainly high up on the list. And we aren't just talking about its off-the-wall, polarizing design.
For starters, it brought back the iconic Cherokee nameplate - something Jeep enthusiasts have coveted for ages. But beyond that, it brought a new evolution for the Jeep brand. After all, the Cherokee is car-based - using the same compact platform that underpins the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200. It has a greater focus on technology and refinement than ever before, in an effort to appeal to a new crop of Jeep customers. And powering it all is a new (optional) V6 engine paired with an equally new nine-speed automatic transmission.
Can the Cherokee's car-based roots still allow for a vehicle that's superb when the going gets tough? Will its design still be a love/hate affair in one year's time, or will it start to blend in? Is the powertrain strong enough to not only support the needs of daily driving and road trips, but blaze a few trails as well? We're aiming to answer all these questions, and more, over the next 12 months. Welcome to the Autoblog long-term garage, Cherokee.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel and SRT climb onto stage

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

This is indeed a case of not knowing how much we wanted something until it arrived. We've been big fans of the Jeep Grand Cherokee ever since the new model arrived a couple of years ago, and while the update you see here might seem just a slight refresh, it's actually much more than that.
For starters, the 2014 Grand Cherokee marks the return of a diesel model here in the States, with Chrysler's new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 under the hood, churning out 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Of course, all of the Grand Cherokee's usual off-road goodies are on hand, with moderate tweaks to make it an even more capable vehicle when the going gets rough. Both the gasoline-fed 3.6-liter V6 and 5.7-liter V8 get the new eight-speed auto, as well.
The high-performance Grand Cherokee SRT also trudges on into the new model year, with very subtle tweaks found underneath the aggressive, slightly redesigned sheetmetal. The 6.4-liter Hemi V8 also gets eight-speed gearing, which Chrysler says will improve not only 0-60 times, but mid-range performance as well. Bring it on, we say.
