Jeep Cherokee 2-dr Wide Track on 2040-cars
Boone, Iowa, United States
I am selling my 1979 Jeep Cherokee Chief Wide track. The vehicle is not running. I replaced the intake manifold and carburetor about a year and a half ago with an Edelbrock performer intake and 600 cfm carburetor. Ever since, I have not been able to get it running other than briefly and roughly. I don't think I got all of the hoses and stuff connected back up correctly. I am pretty sure it just needs someone who knows these engines to get it working. It has the AMC 360 V-8 in it. It is not the original motor. The motor turns over fine when the battery is charged but it will not run. The paint job is about 4 years old and is not professional, but it looks decent when it's washed. There are some small dings, dents, scratches, and chips.
I have owned the vehicle since the early or mid 90's. It has sat in the garage a lot over the years. I would start it occasionally or pull it out to wash it, up until I replaced the manifold. It has the T-400 transmission and Quadratrac transfer case with the low range shifter. The axles are both Dana 44, not sure on the gearing anymore. It has a 3" add a leaf on the rear and 33x12.50x15 A/T's. The tires are old but they hold air good and have lasted along time. All of the glass is in decent shape. The chrome trim still shines. The seats are in decent shape, but there are some tears in the backs of the seats. There is no carpet or headliner in it, but it still has insulated mat on the floor. The dash in decent shape. There is no stereo or speakers. I don't think the fuel gauge works anymore. I have replace the front door seals and the roof rack seals. It still needs the rear door and window seals. Also, It does not have the rear window motor. As for rust on the vehicle, there is some minor surface rust on the underside of the roof from the rack leaking years ago and small area on the passenger side rear fender flare. The rocker panels are solid and the front fender wells are solid. This vehicle is originally from the Pacific Northwest and has never driven on the salted Iowa winter roads. I have also undercoated the frame and fender wells several times over the year to prevent rusting. This has been my baby for years and I hate to see it go, but we are going to be relocating back to the pacific northwest and I do not want to haul it across the country. I always had big plans for it, but if I had the time, then I never had the money. I am hopeful that someone will get to fix it up and use it like I always wanted to. Feel free to contact me with specific questions or if want specific pictures taken. The buyer is responsible for picking up the vehicle at my residence within 7 days of the end of the auction unless other arrangements are agreed upon between Seller and Buyer. Any shipping arrangement are the buyers responsibility. The buyer will pay a $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours of the end of auction. The remainder of balance shall be paid in cash within 7 days of the end of auction. The highest bidder at the end of the auction is responsible to uphold the contract of purchasing the vehicle. As/Is No Warranty on Vehicle. I have more pictures upon request. The pictures are from this past summer when I pulled the vehicle out and washed it. I can send you pictures of how it sits in the garage. |

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT gets power increase, minor tweaks for 2015
Tue, 02 Sep 2014As a brand within Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, SRT may have an uncertain future, but it's pumping out some seriously mean machines anyway. The supercharged Hellcat V8 may be gobbling up most of the headlines with its 707 horsepower, but even the Grand Cherokee SRT is getting some small updates for the 2015 model year.
Most importantly for many enthusiasts, the Grand Cherokee SRT is getting a slight power bump. Don't expect the 700+ hp from the Hellcat, but this SUV sees a modest 5-hp and 5-pound-feet of torque improvement to bring output to 475 hp and 470 lb-ft for its 6.4-liter V8 with an eight-speed automatic. The minor change doesn't change the sprint to 60 miles per hour, clocking in at the same 4.8 seconds, or the tow rating at 7,200 pounds. Still, more grunt is never a bad idea.
Another new addition is the Active Noise Canceling system as a standard feature for this powerful SUV. It adds four microphones around the vehicle and uses the stereo system to nullify extraneous sound. However, Jeep claims that the meaty exhaust note from the V8 still gets through into the cabin for driver enjoyment.
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Jeep's Super 'Ute Is Fun Thrown In The Face Of Conventional Wisdom
Let's talk asses for a moment. What do they have to do with the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, you ask?
Well, we're here to tell you that this SRT can haul some. Lots of them, as a matter of fact: Jeep has increased the towing capacity of its most powerful SUV to 7,200 pounds. Assuming the average donkey weighs about 400 pounds, the Grand Cherokee SRT can haul ass to the tune of 18 burros, give or take a covered trailer or so, which is significantly more than it could in previous years. In 2013, the machine could manage 5,000 pounds, while the first generation was rated at just 3,500. The increase is mostly attributable to a new eight-speed automatic transmission and beefier rear axle, and it's a welcome update for those who'd like to use their SUV as, well, an SUV with an emphasis on utility.
2014 Jeep Cherokee will keep Liberty designation in China... sort of
Wed, 17 Apr 2013Chinese buyers will get their first live look at the 2014 Jeep Cherokee during the Shanghai Motor Show, but CarNewsChina is reporting that it will go by a different name - Ziyou Guan, which translates to "Liberty Light." The article states that our Jeep Liberty was never sold in China, but the iconic XJ Cherokee was sold and produced there as the Qinuoji (a phonetic translation of Cherokee).
The new Jeep Liberty Light will be built alongside the Fiat Viaggio (China's Fiat-badged version of the Dodge Dart) at the Guangzhou-Fiat plant, and the two models will share the same powertrains: a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder base engine paired to a five-speed manual or a dual-clutch transmission and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder (the base engine for the US-spec 2014 Cherokee) as an optional engine. It doesn't sound like the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 will be offered in China.
We'll be on hand when the new Jeep debuts in Shanghai, so stay tuned to Autoblog this Friday night and Saturday for our live coverage of the show.
