Hello! I am selling my beloved 1984 Jeep CJ-7. I have owned it a couple years, but have hardly driven it. I have gone back to school so this Jeep must go. It has a clear NC title. Has 5 BRAND NEW 15x10 Mickey Thompson Classic II wheels and 33x12.50x15 tires. Stainless steel trim is all over this baby! Sharp! Paint is in good shape as well, other than the couple rust spots. Inside of body tub has had truck bed liner applied as well. Has hard top and full doors with roll up windows and a Bestop bikini top. 4 inch Black Diamond suspension lift. New exhaust system and front end rebuilt. New Bestop rear seat. Bestop fender flares. Previous owner had the 258 6 cylinder rebuilt approx. 50,000 miles ago, and put on a Weber Carburetor. The body has approx. 162,000 miles on it. Body is all factory steel, no fiberglass. Jeep runs and drives great! Has a couple small rust spots (see pics), and the previous owner removed the factory heater box to put a Mojave electric heater in it (heater box comes with Jeep), and the fuel gauge does not work. This  Jeep would be great to drive as is, or put a little work in it and make money off of it. I have a fortune tied up in this Jeep. My loss is your gain. I have the Jeep listed for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the listing early. Payment is to be CASH IN PERSON ONLY!!! I would like the Jeep to be picked up within a few days of sale. Buyer is responsible for pickup and transportation of the Jeep. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you, and God bless!

2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

There will forever be a soft spot in my heart for the Jeep Wrangler. The last one I owned was red, and, as a 1990 model, had the square headlights derided by Jeep enthusiasts who grew up on the Civilian Jeeps that descended from their General Purpose military ancestors. As a teenager, I couldn't have cared less what shape its headlights happened to be - to me, a Jeep Wrangler represented freedom; a carefree do-it-all machine equally at home with the top stowed away in the summer or with the heater on full blast in the snowy clutches of Old Man Winter. In Dr. Seuss parlance, my square-headlighted Sneetch was just as worthy as any round-headlighted Sneetch.
All that said, I'll be the first person to advise against buying a Jeep Wrangler of any sort for owners who don't plan to use it as its makers intend. There's no good reason to punish yourself with a stiff and springy ride, a loud and somewhat drafty (though generally water-resistant) interior or the poor fuel economy expected of a block-shaped vehicle if you don't enjoy its other, more exciting benefits.
Of course, Jeep has done its darndest over the years to make the Wrangler as civilized as possible while keeping it as capable as federal law will allow. The 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab edition is one of Jeep's latest attempts to attract attention from the upper reaches of the active lifestyle set, and I spent a week with one to see what makes the Moab special.

Maserati Levante crossover not Jeep based after all?

Thu, 20 Feb 2014

Maserati has been teasing its crossover project since 2011, which is when it first showed off the Kubang concept (pictured above). Still, the production version, rumored to be called the Levante, remains a complete mystery. The CUV was first rumored to borrow the platform from the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but new rumors indicate that the Italian, luxury crossover might actually take the underpinnings from the Quattroporte and Ghibli.
In a brief interview, Maserati CEO Harald Wester told CNN Money that the Levante wouldn't use Jeep's platform. Motor Trend spoke with an unnamed Maserati engineer who confirmed the rumor. Officially, the company says that no decision has been made.
We can add this to another long list of rumors about the Italian CUV. It was originally supposed to be built at Chrysler's Jefferson North assembly plant in Detroit. Then, plans were changed to build it in Italy.

eBay Find of the Day: 1977 Jeep J20 time capsule

Tue, 08 Jan 2013

Is it just us or has eBay really become, of late, a surprising time capsule of older, barely used automobiles? We've had the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT with 83 miles, the 2004 Ferrari Enzo with 175 miles, the 1987 Shelby Lancer with 22 miles, the 1989 Shelby Dakota with 23 miles - none of those four cars ever even registered - and the 1975 Cosworth Vega with 191 miles. You can add to that list a 1977 Jeep J20 - the kind of Jeep that enthusiasts point to when they beg the brand to make another pickup truck.
Listed on eBay by Masterpiece Classic Cars in Whiteland, Indiana, the Brandywine and Alpine White truck has used its 360-cubic-inch V8 paired with a three-speed automatic to go just 3,940 documented miles. Not surprisingly, it's listed in excellent condition and the images appear to bear that out. The three-quarter-ton pickup comes with its original manual and pamphlets, the Quadra-Track four-wheel drive probably just as ready to tackle the terrain as it was 36 years ago. If only it came with some John Denver to play in that AM/FM/8-Track stereo...
At the time of writing it hasn't garnered a single offer or bid, probably due to the above-top-dollar Buy It Now price of $34,900. Still, since this is likely the closest you'll get to a Jeep pickup for some time, we'd recommend admiring it in the gallery of photos above.
