You are viewing an absolutely beautiful 1983 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade. This is an unrestored original Jeep with just 55K miles from new! It still wears its original paint and still maintains all of its original steel body panels and tub. It has never been wrecked and has zero rust! This is a western USA CJ that has never been exposed to harsh winters, road salt, etc. It has always been garage kept and lovingly maintained. It looks and drives like a 55K mile CJ should or better! Many of the miles were put on the Jeep as it was towed behind a motorhome! Here are some details about this rare find,

  • Orig. 258 in-line 6 cylinder engine
  • 4 speed manual trans.
  • 4WD with lock in lock out hubs
  • Dana 30 front and AMC rear differentials
  • Power steering
  • Front disc brakes
  • Tilt steering column
  • AM-FM CD
  • Warn winch with remote
  • Custom chrome front bumper
  • Tow bar with light hook ups
  • Hi-Lift jack with locking mounts
  • Safari style swing away spare tire carrier with twin steel jerry cans
  • Aluminum wheels
  • BF Goodrich All Terrain TAs tires 31x10.50s with matching spare
  • Draw bar with hitch
  • Good snug fitting soft top and soft doors
  • Padded roll bar cover
  • Original rubber floor covering (mat)
  • Center console
  • Near perfect original body and paint
  • Etc.

You will not believe how nice the body is on this Jeep! It is arrow straight and rock solid. The paint is 30 years old but still looks like new! Only a couple of small dings keep this CJ from being perfect. Remember, only 55K miles and no rust ever! They really don't come much nicer than this. I would much rather have a beautiful, unrestored, low mileage CJ like this then one that someone has "restored." The interior is equally impressive. The original dash pad, rear seat, steering wheel, sunvisors, etc. all show very well. The front seats were replaced several years ago and look great too. The original rubber floor covering is in amazing condition as well. Everything works including the lights, wipers, horn, turn signals, gauges, radio, heater, blower motor, etc. The soft top is in nice shape too with good clear plastic windows, etc. This really is a beautiful CJ and it has just the right purposeful stance.

Mechanically, the Jeep is very, very sound. The motor is super tight and super clean. It starts easily and runs great with no issues. It does not smoke, knock, run hot, leak, etc. It holds perfect oil pressure and pulls strong through all 4 gears. The 4 speed transmission shifts perfectly too with no grinding, etc. The clutch and 4WD operate as they should with no issues either. The brakes, tires, suspension, etc. are all in excellent condition. The Jeep drives down the road nice and straight with no wander like so many of these old CJs. Overall, this is a very nice, tight, great driving CJ. It looks, drives, and feels exactly like what it is, a low mileage, super original CJ. Don't miss your chance to buy this great unrestored Jeep. It will only increase in value as Jeeps like this continue to get harder and harder to find.

Jeep Wrangler diesel likely after 2015 model refresh

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

We automotive journalists aren't always the right people to ask about whether a US-spec vehicle should or should not be offered with a diesel powertrain (hint: the answer is usually "YES"). But when it comes to the iconic, off-road-ready Jeep Wrangler, we aren't the only ones who have been clamoring for an oil-burning engine behind that famous seven-slat grille. To that end, it appears there's good news on the horizon, as Jeep CEO Mike Manley recently told Ward's Auto that the "Wrangler is on the radar to get (a) diesel."
"I'm confident that the Grand Cherokee will show just how large a demand there is for diesel, and I think what that will do is reinforce the need for us to target Wrangler as a vehicle that can take a diesel," Manley told Ward's. The most rugged of Jeeps is scheduled to get an overhaul around 2015-16, and the diesel powertrain will likely be introduced around that time.
This year alone, Chrysler will be adding a diesel engine to the Grand Cherokee SUV, as well as the Ram 1500 pickup and Promaster utility van.

Why Mopar won't release a factory lift kit for the new Jeep Cherokee

Thu, 24 Apr 2014

The Jeep Cherokee Dakar concept showed off at the 2014 Easter Jeep Safari made a lot of online friends, even the Cherokee naysayers assenting that there's a monster Jeep underneath the Cherokee's skin if you're willing to go in and get it. But after reading Road & Track's write-up of what went into creating the Dakar, particularly its lift, you'll understand why you'll probably never see the components for it in the Jeep Performance Parts catalog.
The concept's press release mentions a "prototype Jeep Performance Parts lift kit, and additional suspension modifications." The short-story explanation is that the front struts on the standard Cherokee weren't engineered to accept any amount of lift, so the long story begins with the phrase, "an entirely new suspension." Head over to RT to read the details, and don't be afraid to ogle the Cherokee Dakar gallery and another awesome Jeep fancy that won't likely crawl over the hurdles imposed by production reality.

NHTSA closes investigation into Jeep Liberty fires

Sun, 16 Mar 2014

The investigation that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened into the Jeep Liberty in October 2013 has been closed. NHTSA received two (!) complaints about fires starting in the driver's door, thought to be caused by the master power window switch. The initial estimate was that 80,000 Libertys could be roped into a possible recall, but according to a report in the Detroit News the agency examined records for 425,000 Chrysler products that used the same window switch, including the Dodge Nitro and Chrysler Town & Country minivan.
After canvassing 265 warranty claims related to the master switches, NHTSA concluded that the rate of fires compared to the "large population of vehicles" was rather low, and that there was no trend pattern behind the few issues it did find. Perhaps with that, and the closure of the trailer hitch investigation, the Liberty can finally rest in peace.
