NOT ONLY IS THE MILEAGE LOW BUT THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD A FRAME OFF COMPLETE RESTORATION! BODY WAS STRIPPED DOWN TO BARE METAL THEN PAINTED BLACK. THIS IS NOT THE CHEAP PAINT JOB YOU SEE IN MANY CASES. EVERY NUT,BOLT, SCREW, DOOR, FENDER, TOP,COMPLETE DRIVETRAIN, FRAME, AND TRIM WAS REMOVED PRIOR TO PAINT. NEW MIRRORS, NEW BUMPERS, NEW CHROME GRILLE, NEW UPHOLSTERY, NEW SOFT TOP, NEW HEADLIGHT BEZELS, NEW BATTERY, NEW WEATHER STRIPPING, NEW WIPERS, NEW EXHAUST, NEW EVERYTHING! THIS IS A TOP QUALITY AND A VERY EXTENSIVE METICULOUS RESTORATION. NOTHING LEFT UN-TOUCHED! THE ONLY THING THAT HAVE SLIGHT WEAR IS THE CHROME WHEELS AND TIRES. TIRES HAVE ABOUT 95% TREAD ALL THE WAY AROUND. THE FRAME WAS ALSO STRIPPED AND PAINTED ALONG WITH THE SUSPENSION. ALL MECHANICALS WORK AS THEY SHOULD. ENGINE COMPARTMENT SUPER DETAILED AND VERY VERY CLEAN. RUNS, SHIFTS, DRIVES, TRACKS, AND RIDES AS NEW. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO ADDRESS. NOTHING AT ALL! JUST GET IN AND DRIVE! Jeep Renegade gets Riptide and Frostbite customs at SEMA
Wed, 05 Nov 2014The cute little Jeep Renegade isn't even on sale yet, but here at SEMA, the Mopar folks are giving us a taste of what's possible for the little CUV in the big wide world of customization. Part of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' massive SEMA spread, the Renegade shows up in fresh Riptide and and Frostbite guises.
First up, the Riptide arrives in Vibrance Grandeur Blue with black wheels and a big ol' Jeep Performance Parts logo on the rear pillar. There are a few black accents elsewhere on the exterior, and a surfboard carrier rides up on the roof. The blue color scheme also finds its way inside the Renegade, on the instrument cluster and side panels, with contrasting white accents.
By contrast, the Frostbite Renegade reverses the Riptide's color scheme, with white being the main paint of choice, with blue accents abound. And inside, Katzkin seats wear blue upholstery. The Frostbite is a pretty functional creation, as well, with a Mopar ski/snowboard roof rack and a Jeep Performance Parts rock rail guard.
2015 Ford F-150 named Truck of Texas, Lincoln and Jeep also awarded at Truck Rodeo
Tue, 14 Oct 2014The Ford Motor Company has a lot of reasons to celebrate after winning eight categories in this year's Texas Auto Writers Association's annual Truck Rodeo. Most important among them, the Blue Oval's latest 2015 Ford F-150 earned the prestigious Truck of Texas award, ending the Ram 1500's two-year winning streak. The 2015 Lincoln MKC also grabbed the honor as the CUV of Texas, and Ford was named Truck Line of Texas.
FoMoCo even took trophies for best technology with its extensive use of aluminum on its latest F-Series and best commercial vehicle for the new Transit 250. It wasn't a total sweep, though, because the Jeep Grand Cherokee grabbed the title of the SUV of Texas for the fifth straight time.
This year's event put 60 auto writers in 75 pickups, SUVs and crossovers and challenged them to find the best in a plethora of categories. All of the winners are listed below, and scroll down to read the full announcements from the Texas Auto Writers Association and Ford.
Jeep Cherokee faces on-sale delay
Sat, 23 Mar 2013A report in The Wall Street Journal looks at some of the obstacles to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee that go beyond its mootable yet "very contemporary" looks, almost all of them based on Fiat's financial position. Starting with that sheetmetal, in defense of it SRT president Ralph Gilles and Jeep design head Mark Allen said they wanted to "make sure the design still looks modern five years from now."
The WSJ piece doesn't cite longevity as a factor, instead saying that its features originated in a design for an Alfa Romeo, the transformation into a Jeep design meant allowing Chrysler get it to market more quickly and save "hundreds of millions of dollars" in engineering.
The need for Fiat to save money while it weathers the European situation has cut budgets for development, engineering and the pace of retooling the Toledo, Ohio plant to build the Cherokee. In a familiar case of snowballing at work, among the effects will be pushing back the Cherokee's volume sales date and delaying updates to some of Chrysler's other products.
