This Jeep CJ 5 is in great running condition. The body has no rust at all. It's been stored inside, always. The paint his black on black. There is a few runs on the paint, but not a big deal. I've recently put a rebuilt carb on it, the old one was bleeding out fuel. I put a brand new radiator on it. It has a new fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, wipers and a brand new muffler. This thing is fun and has been taken care of. My son has been driving it to school, but we recently got him a car, so we have to get rid of some toys/vehicles. There is a Skyjacker lift on it, along with 33 inch oversized tires. The tires are in good shape, the rims are, to me, in great shape and they look nice. It comes with 2 half doors, 2 full doors, a bikini top, and a tow bar. I haven't had time to fabricate the tow bar to the jeep yet. There are heavy duty seat belts, as you can see in the pics, we didn't use the shoulder ones much, we used the ones around your waist. The flooring has been sprayed, like the back of a pickup truck, to keep rust away. There is a dent in the front by the driver's side, you can see it in the pic, to me it's not a big deal. There is extra parts that will come with it and they all work, such as the other carb, fuel pump, fuel filter and anything else I got laying around that belongs to it. My son and I consider this an oversized 4 wheeler, but you can take it anywhere. We've driven it from Rockford, Il. to the St. Louis, Mo. area last summer. My reserve price is less than what I recently paid for a used Honda 4 wheeler. We love this Jeep, but it's just not being used enough anymore. If you have any questions, just ask, thanks, Rich.

Jeep Wrangler diesel likely after 2015 model refresh

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

We automotive journalists aren't always the right people to ask about whether a US-spec vehicle should or should not be offered with a diesel powertrain (hint: the answer is usually "YES"). But when it comes to the iconic, off-road-ready Jeep Wrangler, we aren't the only ones who have been clamoring for an oil-burning engine behind that famous seven-slat grille. To that end, it appears there's good news on the horizon, as Jeep CEO Mike Manley recently told Ward's Auto that the "Wrangler is on the radar to get (a) diesel."
"I'm confident that the Grand Cherokee will show just how large a demand there is for diesel, and I think what that will do is reinforce the need for us to target Wrangler as a vehicle that can take a diesel," Manley told Ward's. The most rugged of Jeeps is scheduled to get an overhaul around 2015-16, and the diesel powertrain will likely be introduced around that time.
This year alone, Chrysler will be adding a diesel engine to the Grand Cherokee SUV, as well as the Ram 1500 pickup and Promaster utility van.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT gets power increase, minor tweaks for 2015

Tue, 02 Sep 2014

As a brand within Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, SRT may have an uncertain future, but it's pumping out some seriously mean machines anyway. The supercharged Hellcat V8 may be gobbling up most of the headlines with its 707 horsepower, but even the Grand Cherokee SRT is getting some small updates for the 2015 model year.
Most importantly for many enthusiasts, the Grand Cherokee SRT is getting a slight power bump. Don't expect the 700+ hp from the Hellcat, but this SUV sees a modest 5-hp and 5-pound-feet of torque improvement to bring output to 475 hp and 470 lb-ft for its 6.4-liter V8 with an eight-speed automatic. The minor change doesn't change the sprint to 60 miles per hour, clocking in at the same 4.8 seconds, or the tow rating at 7,200 pounds. Still, more grunt is never a bad idea.
Another new addition is the Active Noise Canceling system as a standard feature for this powerful SUV. It adds four microphones around the vehicle and uses the stereo system to nullify extraneous sound. However, Jeep claims that the meaty exhaust note from the V8 still gets through into the cabin for driver enjoyment.

This American Life spends a week selling Jeeps in Long Island

Thu, 19 Dec 2013

So you think you know car dealers? Well, maybe you do, but This American Life spent a month at Town and Country Jeep Chrysler Doge Ram in Long Island to give us a behind-the-scenes look (or listen, since it's a radio program) at what it's like to be a car dealer.
Yes, there's a lot of swearing in thick New York accents, frustration, confusion, and generally it's a madhouse at the dealership. But that's understandable when the sales staff has to sell 129 vehicles in October in order to get an $85,000 manufacturer bonus - with several other Jeep dealerships within a 10-mile radius.
The episode, 129 Cars, is worth a listen, but make sure you have 71 minutes to spare if you want to get through it in one sitting. Head here for the unedited version or here for the bleeped version (which is 58 minutes long).
