This NO RESERVE auction is for a 1977 Renegade CJ7 Levi's edition 304 v8 Jeep. This Jeep was bought new in Pickens South Carolina at the famed Hinkle Jeep dealership. The dealer sticker is still on the front grill along with the "Hinkle" rear bumper. It also has the original 15 x 8 chrome spoke wheels that were a Hinkle option. Google "Hinkle Jeep" if you are unfirmiliar with them, they were the largest in the world in the seventies. This Jeep has always been a local Jeep as it was bought off the original owner just a couple of months ago. This CJ is very solid with just a couple of rust issues at the usual spots. There is some rust where the jack mounts under the drivers seat. There is also some where the reinforcement is just behind the Jeep logo on the side of the tub. The tailgate does need to be replaced also. The lower spare tire mount is tore out of the body and does need attention. The floor boards have some surface rust on it as well but they are very solid, just surface. The frame and underside is very rust free, no mud inside the frame. All of these issues are normal for an original Jeep and are easy to fix. Under the battery is very nice, just some surface rust.
The Jeep fires up and runs like it should, choke and high idle works well. You can drive it and lug it down and almost count the cylinders firing and doesn't miss a beat, no smoke or rattles. The power steering does leak and is weak, no other major leaks. The transmission and clutch works like they should as well as the transfer case. The CJ does have front disc brakes and they work well. There are no locking hubs, just the stock factory bolt on plates. The CJ did come with the heavy duty cooling and had the factory shroud and clutch fan. This does have the manifolds and pipes that go under the frame out to side pipes. The doughnut gaskets do leak.
The Jeep had not been repainted, those are the original decals. But the original owner did take some black spray paint and tried to "doctor" it up in places. The CJ drives good down the road with just little bit of wander, the shackle bushing are original and look good. The dash is uncut, there is a old style aftermarket radio in it. The factory tan dash pad is there and in very nice condition, no cuts or cracks. The original rear seat is still there but the front ones either have been recoverd or replaced, the seat brackets are original though. Black outside color and tan interior. The top is ok, it will keep you and the Jeep somewhat dry.
Sorry guys, I feel like I am rambling on, just trying to cover everything so when you come to pick it up there are no surprises. If you want a nice CJ either to restore or make into a nice driver then this is the one! This does need to be trailered home as there are some dry rot in the tires and it does need to be gone over before it is driven much. I did drive it up and down the road but only up to about 40 mph. No shipping on this.....$500 to my paypal account within 48 hours of end of auction. I am located halfway between Atlanta and Charlotte right off of I85. If you want to come and look. Thanks

Jeep gives a trio of customs an encore showing at SEMA
Wed, 05 Nov 2014While Jeep certainly had some new customs on display at this year's SEMA show, it wasn't afraid to recycle a few that people might have missed from earlier this year. The maker of many beloved off-roaders already displayed the Jeep Cherokee Dakar, Maximum Performance Wrangler and Wrangler Mojo at the 2014 Easter Safari, but they all made it to SEMA for an encore.
Based around the Trailhawk, the Cherokee Dakar (pictured above) imagines an even more off-road-capable version of the crossover. The concept wears a mix of Silver Steel Stain paint with Flame Red graphics and rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch BFGoodrich Mud Terrain tires. To back up the rugged look, the Dakar is fitted with rock rails and skid plates protecting the oil pan, front suspension, fuel tank and other underbody parts. It also sports prototype parts from Jeep Performance Parts, including a lift kit and fender flares.
The Wrangler is one of the paragons of off-roading, and as the name suggests, the Maximum Performance Wrangler concept is meant to be the ultimate example of what it can do. The custom features locking Dana 60 axles front and rear, a 4:1 Rock-Trac transfer case, prototype 4-inch lift kit and 37-inch Mud Terrain tires over beadlock wheels. To stay on the trails well into the night, a bar of LEDs is mounted above the windshield. And finally, the Mopar Blue exterior kind of makes the vehicle look like the world's toughest blueberry.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalls nearly 750k vehicles in two campaigns
Thu, 16 Oct 2014Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling a total of 747,817 vehicles in the US in two separate campaigns recently added to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration database.
The first one covers about 434,581 units of the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Challenger, Durango, and Jeep Grand Cherokee from the 2011-2014 model years with electric hydraulic power steering, the 3.6-liter V6 engine and a 160 amp alternator, according to FCA. In the affected vehicles, it's possible for the alternator to fail without warning and possibly cause the car to stall. According to the documentation submitted to NHTSA, the automaker began investigating the problem in August 2014 and has found possible evidence of one crash caused by the failures but no known injuries.
Customers will begin receiving notification about the recall next month, and obviously the repairs will be done at no cost to them.
Millionth Jeep Wrangler JK to roll off line this morning
Fri, 17 May 2013According to a report on the Chrysler Communications Facebook page and one fairly grainy image of the production line, at around 11:00AM Eastern this morning, the one-millionth Jeep Wrangler JK will roll out of the company's Toledo assembly plant.
The third-generation or "JK" Jeep Wrangler has been around since the 2007 model year, and has obviously been more popular than ever. With a greater than ever number of trim levels, two-door and four-door Unlimited models and hardy off-roading Rubicon packages, the JK offers more to choose from than ever for those looking for something in a traditional Jeep. In fact, with the modern 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 powering it, the 2012 model year saw more than 140k Wrangers sold here in the US; the best-ever figure for the model.
With a model refresh due out for the Wrangler in 2015 (along with the likely addition of a diesel engine option), we expect that sales will continue to roll right along, too.
