40,517 Actual Miles Outstanding Condition Outstanding Looking Great Investment! on 2040-cars
Shawnee, Kansas, United States
Image Motors had the good fortune to acquire this magnificent XK150
Drophead Convertible from the previous owner who had owned it for 43
years because of his planned move to a retirement community. This car
has been meticulously maintained and cared for as if it was the only
possession this person had. This car made its way to Kansas City from
Dallas on Sunday June 24, 1962 with only 10,024 miles. This amount of
mileage in the first two years had to be the fastest mileage put on this
car because in the next 52 years it only accumulated 30,493 miles
more. We believe that a import car dealer who specialized in British cars
brought it to Kansas City and kept it until June 19,1971 when he sold
it to someone who flipped it very quickly, October 28, 1971 to the
person who we acquired it from. We have some service records from 1968
and 1969 where the import dealers shop performed work. The import
dealer was also a car collector and it is very possible that he just
held on to this car the entire time. We have a copy of an old Kansas
title from January 16, 1968 showing Joe Egle Motors Imports, Inc as the
owner and a couple of people in Kansas City who claimed to have known
him said they thought that was about the time he moved from Kansas City,
Missouri to a suburb on the Kansas side of Olathe Kansas. Hence the
need to retitle Kansas. We have tried to share as much information and
facts about this car because we are talking about an extremely rare car,
with low mileage, that with some further attention could turn out to be
very valuable with the right paint being applied to this rust free
car.
PAINT We are not sure when the paint was applied, but we know it was sometime prior to 1990, but the old saying that it "looks good at 10 feet", really applies to this car. If you look real close at the paint you can see areas where the metal was not blocked, sanded, and primed properly and over time has risen through the paint. Don't know if the person who commissioned the repaint didn't know the difference or just didn't want to spend the extra money. I wish cars could talk because it could shed a tremendous amount of information that we have all wondered. CHROME All chrome on this car: wheels, bumpers, trim on outside around headlights, turn signals, taillights, door handles are very shiny are not pitted in any way! The items that are chromed in the interior are equally as nice. A word or two about the wheels, they are perfect looking with a few bumps on the knockoffs where the factory wheel mallet was used taking the tires and wheels off of the car. INTERIOR The leather interior is way beyond just presentable. Don't know if it is original, replaced, or restored but looks very good for as old as it is. We know that there was a correct woolton wool carpet set with new under felts installed in 1990. At that time there was new under dash panels, windshield piping, dash leather, fabricated and recovered. TOP The top and boot are in outstanding condition and the only record we have of work being performed on them was a defective bow was repaired and reinstalled in 1990. The top goes up and down very smoothly and the boot fits very nicely. MECHANICAL (Most Important in our opinion) This car was shipped from Kansas City to Stew Jones Restoration & Repair Shop in Winstead, Connecticut to one of the most respected Jaguar shops by the owner to have the car checked out completely and then he authorized them to perform over $11,000 worth of work to make sure this grand old car received the attention it deserved. All work that was recommended and estimated was performed, no corners cut here. We have the itemized bill on all worked performed, parts and labor to substantiate all work. I guess I should have said this along time ago, but every time you turn the key on and push the start button it starts the first time! This car had, new disc brakes all the way around, new transmission and torque converter, engine was removed during process and many mechanical things were performed. The list just goes on and on of items that were replaced, repaired, or rebuilt to make sure that this car drives and handles just the like the owner expected. The detail is unheard of on a vehicle that someone was going to drive and enjoy. The cosmetic detail is just what you would expect to go along with everything else. After the car returned to Kansas City a local repair shop, specializing in special interest cars inspected this car annually for its owner and performed any service or repairs needed. With his shop being the most knowledgeable of this work, he would be glad to discuss it with the new owner if desired. RIDE & DRIVE This has to be one of the best driving and handling 54 year old XK150 on the road today. The Jaguar drives down the road straight as an arrow and those disc brakes bring this car to a nice smooth stop. The automatic transmission shifts nice and smooth. Be prepared for people to stare at your outstanding car as you are driving down the street and enjoying it. As you can see in the picture of the trunk we have the original tools and bag, mallet, and tucked away in the glove box is the original owners manual, all in like new condition! This mule is the first evidence Jaguar is working on a 3 Series fighter
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Rumors of an entry-level, BMW 3 Series-fighting Jaguar sedan have been floating around for quite some time, but thanks to our intrepid spy photographers, we now have visible proof that such a model is, in fact, in the works.
Despite this tester's XF fittings, it's clear that what lies beneath is an entirely different beast. The doors have been shortened, roofline adjusted, rear deck lopped off and exhaust replaced, giving us a better idea of the new sedan's smaller dimensions and details. The new Jag, which may be dubbed "XS," is expected to ride on Jaguar's PLA (Premium Lightweight Architecture) platform, touting weight-saving materials that should do a lot to keep overall heft to a minimum. Both turbocharged four- and supercharged six-cylinder powertrains are expected to be on tap.
Codenamed X760, the new small sedan will reportedly hit the market in 2015. Earlier reports have indicated that a new crossover - Jag's first ever - riding on the same platform will arrive shortly thereafter, so that suggests that the platform will be fitted with all-wheel drive as well.
2014 Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake
Tue, 17 Jun 2014We'd consider giving up vital organs for the opportunity to drive any number of vehicles on the Nürburgring: supercars, racecars, track cars, even hot hatches... but a station wagon? That might not seem like a top choice at first blush, but this is no ordinary wagon. This is the Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake.
Now if that name leaves you scratching your head, there are several good reasons for that - not least of which is the unfortunate reality that, unlike so many performance-oriented crossovers and sport-utes, the Sportbrake is not offered in North America. But suppose it were, or that weren't a factor. You'd likely still be left wondering how the name Jaguar ended up on a station wagon in the first place, and how that machine wound up bearing the letters R-S, the suffix affixed only to Coventry's most hardcore performance models.
Our brief story goes back a little over two years to when Jaguar revealed the XF Sportbrake at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, giving its mid-level sedan an elongated roof and added cargo capacity. The Sportbrake may not be the first wagon to wear the Leaping Cat badge, but following the lamentable X-Type Sportwagon, it could be argued that the XF is the first authentic Jag estate.
Jaguar may join the FWD, small-car parade
Tue, 13 Aug 2013Was it right for Chevrolet to detune the 1975 Corvette's base engine to 165 horsepower? Was Aston Martin wrong to make the Toyota iQ-based Cygnet? Is BMW crazy to be testing the new 1 Series with three-cylinder engines and front-wheel drive? It seems now, just as in the 1970s and 1980s, that emissions regulations and social considerations are driving some automakers to adopt unbefitting practices to maintain acceptance in the eyes of governments and consumers. Jaguar has jumped on the bandwagon, and is considering development of small, frugal, front-wheel-drive cars to help lower Jaguar Land Rover's average vehicle CO2 levels in light of tightening European emissions regulations, Autocar reports.
By 2020, the European Union expects the model range of every manufacturer to average 95 grams per kilometer, which is a new law passed by the European Parliament in April. Manufacturers who make more than 300,000 vehicles per year must meet these targets, and JLR is expected to be producing up to 700,000 vehicles per year by then. CO2 regulations after 2020 will only get stricter, as EU politicians already are talking about lowering CO2 levels to between 68 g/km and 78 g/km. (To put that in perspective, Autocar posits that driving a fully charged electric vehicle in Europe produces about 75 g/km when factoring in the power-generation infrastructure.)
Jaguar has some choices here, but so far they all have drawbacks. It could develop a new, compact chassis architecture for a line of compact vehicles, but the investment required for such a project could be prohibitively expensive. Jaguar has been looking into using the Land Rover Evoque platform for a small SUV, Autocar reports, but Land Rover brand manager John Edwards raises issue with such a plan, saying it may not be financially feasible.
