    Up for bid is a stunning example of a 1956 Jaguar XK 140 Roadster in beautiful condition throughout. This is the rarer example with the factory skirts and disk wheels as most were imported without skirts and wire wheels. I purchased this car from a person I knew who owned this car since 1979 and pampered this great example for years then did a ground up restoration in and out on this strait original example. This was the love of his life and was his only classic car and was very wealthy that money was no object at the time and did what was needed without thought of cost. This is a numbers matching fine example with beautiful stunning paint throughout in the original factory maroon color with tan leather and correct tan top. As you can see from the pictures this car is strait as an arrow with no signs of body work or imperfections. The chrome and all the details are beautiful as well and the car has only been driven 3803 miles since everything was done. This car mechanically is like driving a new Jaguar back in the day. The steering is so tight and nimble its like power steering, you have to drive it and you will fall in love. The engine bay is all detailed and the original porcelain manifolds are just beautiful as is the undercarriage. The trunk is beautiful as well with all the factory tools and jack as you can see and the tires are the correct factory issue and have barley any miles on them. I have the original manual and dealer books as well because he got them from the original owner back in the day. I do not have the side curtains as they were misplaced years ago but they can be had today. The fit and finish is without question as seen in the pictures and if you come and see this car in person it looks even better than the pictures. The photos you are seeing here were taken before a thorough detail was done and was now just completed and is stunning. All the mechanicals are excellent and working except the gas gauge but we have a new one and will install it before the new owner takes delivery. Well I can go on all day but what you have here is one of the most beautiful unmolested Jaguar 140 Roadsters today that you can drive with pleasure and enter it in any high quality show event with pride. Jaguar Heritage Driving Experience throws you the keys to the museum

As automotive journalists, we get to drive a lot of really cool, high-performance vehicles. It really is the single best thing about this job. However, our access to vehicles is generally limited to the newest offerings on the market. That means, much like the general public, we don't really get access to vintage iron.
Jaguar is trying to rectify that issue for journalist and enthusiast alike, with a new program called the Heritage Driving Experience. It allows British enthusiasts to pop into the brand's Warwickshire testing site, drop anywhere from 100 to 300 pounds ($160 to $480) and go for a spin in some of the brand's most legendary offerings. That includes the more typical classics, like the Mark 2 saloon and the E-Type sports car, but you can also pay for access to stunners like the XK150, XKSS and the race-spec D-Type. In addition to the classics, most of the tests include time in their modern successors. So an hour with the Mark II can be split with time in an XFR-S, while the E-Type is complemented by its spiritual successor, the F-Type.
Most of the events are limited to 30 or 60-minute sessions, although the brand does offer a half-day and full-day event. The former, the Jaguar Le Mans Experience, includes time in the C-Type, D-Type, XKSS and F-Type R. The full-day Grace and Pace Pack, meanwhile, gives you access to nine vehicles, covering a huge gamut. That means time in the C-, D- and E-Type, XK150, Mark II, XKR-S GT and F-Type R, among others. Not surprisingly, prices aren't listed for the half- and full-day pack. Much like Jag's finest cars, if you have to ask, you probably can't afford them.

Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake

History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.

Jaguar F-Type US order guide loose online

An alleged US order guide for the 2014 Jaguar F-Type has made its way online courtesy of the good people at F-TypeClub.com, documenting everything from wheel color options to special equipment packages. From the looks of things, buyers will be able to choose from a total of eight wheel designs in sizes ranging from 18 inches on the base model all the way up to 20 inches. While most of those rollers are available in either silver or black finishes, the 20-inch blade-style wheels are not only forged, but come with carbon-fiber trim. Fancy.
Depending on trim, F-Type buyers will get to choose between two types of seat, including a set of performance-style 14-way power adjustable thrones, complete with seat belts in black, red or tan. Other fun tricks include available power folding side view mirrors and a 770-watt, 14-speaker Meridian sound system.
