1987 Jaguar Xjs-c V12 5.3l Automatic With 78,021 Miles, Runs But Needs Work on 2040-cars
Springfield, Oregon, United States
This is a 1987 Jaguar XJS-C with the V12 5.3L engine and an automatic transmission.
I have keys and title in hand. Will run but it sounds like it is only running on 10 or 11 cylinders, very ruff idle. Most likely bad distributor, spark plugs, or clogged injector. Transmission shifts into forward and reverse and seems to be working, but I have never driven it to find out. Has slow water leak on water reservoir, rest of the coolant system seems ok. Breaks have no fluid in them but arn't seized. Most of the electrical in the car works, some things need attention like windshield wipers and window motors. It is missing the driver side window, seams to have rails and motor still installed, just no glass. Driver side door handle is broken and needs replaced. Driver side interior door panel has been removed, probably because of window and door handle. door panel is still with the car. Headliner is bad and missing sections and some trim pieces. Seats are in ok condition, no major tears, the only hole is a 1" puncture in the driver side rear seat. The backs of the front seats have been removed for some reason, but they are with the car. Carpet was replaced with house carpet for some reason I do not know, that really needs replaced. Interior wood trim is oxidized and clear coat is flaking off. Just surface rust in scratches or dings and some interior pieces. The rest of the care is great for how long it sat. Not a lot of dents, two biggest are a ding in front passenger fender and one little one in passenger side running board. Paint is in ok shape, some fading, scratches, dings, and bubbles. Hood has a deep scratch in the center, looks like it was keyed and someone touched up the paint. Please feel free to email me if you have any further questions. |

Weekly Recap: The divergent paths of Tesla and Fisker
Sat, 02 Aug 2014
There's no doubt that Tesla is downshifting while Fisker has been grinding its gears. But it wasn't always that way.
In the wake of Tesla's recent success, it's easy to forget that there were once two California electric carmakers with bright futures.
Jaguar could yet offer more hardcore F-Type R-S
Mon, 25 Nov 2013Jaguar pulled a fast one on us all when it unexpectedly shoehorned all 550 horsepower of the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 from the XKR-S into the new F-Type Coupe to supersede the existing V8 S model with the F-Type R. But that's just the beginning, according to the latest intel coming from the UK.
According to Autocar, in speaking to Jaguar design director Ian Callum during the coupe's unveiling at the LA Auto Show, the British automaker could yet offer R-S and R-S GT versions of the F-Type. Just what mechanical changes those would bring when the F-Type R already packs the company's top engine remains to be seen, but given that the same engine also powers the flagship XJR performance saloon, we could envision Jaguar developing an even more powerful version for R-S versions of the little coupe and big sedan.
The GT version, meanwhile, would likely offer more extreme aero and a lighter form for the truly performance-obsessed. Considering that the new top-of-the-line F-Type is already pushing the hundred-grand mark, you can bet any R-S and R-S GT version would approach double the base F-Type's $65k sticker price.
Dick Van Dyke escapes his flaming Jaguar on the 101
Wed, 21 Aug 2013Actor Dick Van Dyke was caught in a dangerous situation on a Los Angeles highway (who are we kidding, every situation on an LA highway is dangerous), when his Jaguar XJ spontaneously caught fire. The 87-year-old actor/comedian pulled to the side and attempted to call emergency services when another motorist pulled him from the car. There seems to be some confusion as to whether Van Dyke was passed out or merely calling emergency services.
According to the photos and video from NBC and The Today Show, the car was thoroughly cooked in the blaze and is now a total loss. After the incident, Van Dyke's wife, Arlene, posted that the actor was "fine," sharing a Vine video of the star, the car, and a few CHP troopers that were on hand. Later in the day, Van Dyke tweeted a photo of his toasted sedan, saying, "Used Jag for sale REAL CHEAP!!"
You can view the Today show segment on the incident as well as Arlene Van Dyke's Vine video, below.
