2004 Jaguar XJR

I am pleased to offer this wonderful, two local SoCal-owner example of Jaguar’s XJR Gentleman’s Sports/Touring saloon. The XJR is Jaguar’s most elegant and refined hotrod featuring a 4.2 litre V8 engine, (Eaton) supercharged to give 390 bhp and 390 lb-ft of torque to propel the car to 60mph from standstill in an astonishing 4.8 seconds. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission delivering power to the rear wheels, the 20” option wheels.

Inside is a perfect mix of classic British luxury and modern technology. The seats, in leather are well-bolstered to keep you in place during spirited driving. The dash and doors are adorned with burl walnut trim.

The XJ suspension defines supple, and the R's 51/49 front/rear weight distribution make the car as light on its feet as a two-ton car can be. High-performance Brembo cross-drilled brakes will bring that mass to a very effective stop.

The car featured here is a one-owner, Southern California car, in the highly prized silver exterior with black interior in truly excellent condition throughout. Paint is superb with a deep shine. Interior is excellent with only a hint of wear to seats and carpeting. All systems work perfectly, including cold AC. The car has been serviced regularly by the local dealer with the last service performed only a couple of thousand miles ago. It features a GPS Navigation system with both graphic and voice directions, and trunk mounted CD changer.

The car carries a clear California title, clean Carfax report, all books, records and keys. The car has never been smoked in, and there is no evidence of accident damage, paint repair and certainly no rust.

Jaguar C-X75 production run canceled

Tue, 11 Dec 2012

"We feel we could make the car work, but looking at the global austerity measures in place now, it seems the wrong time to launch an 800,000-pound to 1 million-pound supercar."
Those words are from Jaguar Global Brand Director Adrian Hallmark, and as true as they may be, it still stings a little bit. After all, we've been looking forward to the Jaguar C-X75 ever since word came from Jolly Olde that it was green-lit for a short production run.
Some of the cool bits and pieces the world will now be without: a powerful but relatively miserly 1.6-liter turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine, two electric motors driving all four wheels and a carbon fiber chassis developed by Williams F1. Sigh.

Jaguar testing facelifted XJ in UK

Mon, 11 Nov 2013

Europe's flagship luxury sedans don't go through their lifecycles quite as quickly as other models need to, but with the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class hitting the road, Jaguar must feel it's time for a little update for its XJ sedan. And as these spy shots demonstrate, that's just what it has in store.
Falling firmly in the subtle-facelift category (as opposed to the full refresh), the placement of the camouflage on this new XJ appears to be hiding new fascias front and rear. Reshaped bumpers, trunk lid, grille and air apertures seem to be part of the impending facelift, but for better or worse, those black rear pillars seem to be staying put.
While Jaguar's at it, we can expect some updates to the cabin as well, with upgraded infotainment, ambient lighting and such. But don't go expecting anything radical at this stage. The XJ has been on the market for about four years, and it'll be another few before it demands a complete overhaul.

Jaguar may join the FWD, small-car parade

Tue, 13 Aug 2013

Was it right for Chevrolet to detune the 1975 Corvette's base engine to 165 horsepower? Was Aston Martin wrong to make the Toyota iQ-based Cygnet? Is BMW crazy to be testing the new 1 Series with three-cylinder engines and front-wheel drive? It seems now, just as in the 1970s and 1980s, that emissions regulations and social considerations are driving some automakers to adopt unbefitting practices to maintain acceptance in the eyes of governments and consumers. Jaguar has jumped on the bandwagon, and is considering development of small, frugal, front-wheel-drive cars to help lower Jaguar Land Rover's average vehicle CO2 levels in light of tightening European emissions regulations, Autocar reports.
By 2020, the European Union expects the model range of every manufacturer to average 95 grams per kilometer, which is a new law passed by the European Parliament in April. Manufacturers who make more than 300,000 vehicles per year must meet these targets, and JLR is expected to be producing up to 700,000 vehicles per year by then. CO2 regulations after 2020 will only get stricter, as EU politicians already are talking about lowering CO2 levels to between 68 g/km and 78 g/km. (To put that in perspective, Autocar posits that driving a fully charged electric vehicle in Europe produces about 75 g/km when factoring in the power-generation infrastructure.)
Jaguar has some choices here, but so far they all have drawbacks. It could develop a new, compact chassis architecture for a line of compact vehicles, but the investment required for such a project could be prohibitively expensive. Jaguar has been looking into using the Land Rover Evoque platform for a small SUV, Autocar reports, but Land Rover brand manager John Edwards raises issue with such a plan, saying it may not be financially feasible.
