This Jaguar is my father's long distance commute daily driver. It has seen quite a few miles, 226051, mostly on highways. He purchased it from a dealer, as a lease return, with 35000 miles on it.
All the while it has provided the 3 qualities Jaguar is known for, "Grace, Pace, and Space."
It has a classic look, it is instantly identifieable as a Jaguar, a big greenhouse with delicate pillars and long hood and rear deck.
The interior is all leather, burled wood, and wool carpets, it is a nice place to be, front or back.
The V8 under the hood combined with the aluminum construction make it fast. On the highway it cruises beautifully, the quiet ride combined with the plentiful power means you will often find yourself travelling faster than you realized, that is why the k40 radar detector was installed. The truth is that it has been a saving grace many times, the new owner will be pleased to have it. I was plesantly surprised that the XJ8 handles twisty roads well, but of course it does, it's a Jaguar and that's part of their DNA.
The original transmission died and was replaced with a rebuilt XJ8 unit at around 180000 miles. The "new" unit works perfectly and the drivetrain is smooth and powerful.
The car has some issues so it was decided that it is time to let it go.
The passenger side was damaged pulling into a garage. Both doors will need to be straightened and most likely the whole side will need to be repainted. The rear molding was ripped off and will need to be replaced. On the upside, since the doors are aluminum there is no rust concern.
The fuel guage has been acting up recently, showing empty when it is not, suddenly going to E, etc. It was diagnosed as a bad sender or sensor in the fuel tank.
The interior is in very good condition. The seats are in very good shape, even the drivers seat is not really showing any wear. There are only a few problems with the interior, it was a pipe smokers car. The headliner is sagging a bit across the back parcel shelf. The leather on the rim of steering wheel is a bit worn
It has recently been parked due to a bad front suspension. A leak was suspected and within days the front end sank to its current position. As seen in the pics the front air shocks don't hold air. During it's final drive it had to be stopped and started freqently to allow the front to pump itself up, that way it could be driven some distance, before it sank too low to be driven, the warning lights came on, and it had to be restarted.
The winning bidder will need to pick up the car in Franklin Lakes, NJ.
It will most likely need to be towed.

Stolen Jaguar E-Type reunited with owner after 46 years
Mon, 22 Sep 2014Barely six months into owning it, Ivan Schneider had his Jaguar E-Type stolen from outside of his Manhattan apartment in 1968. Now, 46 years later, the somewhat beat-up convertible has been recovered just before it was about to be shipped to a new owner in The Netherlands.
US Customs agents at the Port of Los Angeles found the car during a routine check, and they contacted Schneider to arrange returning it to him. When the feds found it, the E-Type was already in a shipping container ready to go to its new owner. The condition is hardly perfect today, including rough paint and a replacement door, but Schneider is ecstatic to get his classic back.
Understandably, the now 82-year-old never thought he would see his droptop Jaguar again. Schneider told the LA Times that he bought the E-Type for $5,000 after winning a case as a lawyer, and it was originally painted gray. Now, he plans to have to have the vintage convertible restored to its former glory in New York.
Jaguar Land Rover opens first overseas factory in China
Wed, 22 Oct 2014Anyone who's a car fan knows that Jaguar and Land Rover cars and trucks all come from the UK. And while we don't doubt that will remain true for the most part, it won't be an absolute truth for long, as the British automaker has just opened its first factory overseas.
Its new plant in Changshu, China, is the result of a $1.8-billion joint venture between JLR and local automaker Chery. It covers some 4.3-million square feet and will, once at peak capacity, produce 130,000 units specifically for the Chinese market, where JLR sells over 100,000 vehicles each year to make it the company's single largest market worldwide.
Production at what's officially known as the Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Company will start with the Evoque, of which one in five globally are currently sold in China. Production will eventually encompass three models. We already know that the Discovery Sport will be next, but the third model line has yet to be announced. JLR has confirmed, however, that the Changshu plant will produce unique models and derivatives specifically for the Chinese market, so we wouldn't be surprised to see a long-wheelbase version of the forthcoming XE or next-generation XF assembled there to satisfy local tastes.
Jaguar shows off production XE body in camo
Sun, 18 May 2014Jaguar turned to Twitter and Facebook to reveal the production form of its coming XE sedan that we'll see for real at the Paris Motor Show. This is the first of a series of show-offs, Jaguar planning to wrap the bodywork in see-through camo that shows off the aluminum monocoque and other internals the company will use to promote the XE over its German rivals. That aluminum structure, which Jaguar calls iQ[Al], will also be used for other Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles.
Underneath that long bonnet and ahead of that terribly short trunk will come a series of Ingenium engines, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines in diesel and petrol forms that will come in a variety of power options, and the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that can also be found in the F-Type. Before the XE goes on sale early next year, you can click the image above to get a slightly larger view of what the The Leaping Cat's near future looks like.
