Classic 1988 Classic Jaguar Sovereign (original Jaguar ) on 2040-cars
Ashland, Massachusetts, United States
This auction is for an 1988 Jaguar XJ6. It is the Sovereign model, not the Van den Plas (ebay catagory doesn't have a Sovereign catagory, so it selected the VDP, so be it known that this is not the VDP model). I am the third owner and have had this nice car for almost 10 years. The previous owners were both doctors and the Jag has always been serviced by high quality Jaguar or European car specialists. The car has 129,000 original miles, I put 50k on it, mostly 10 round trips between Florida and Boston. The the car is designed for a comfortable highway ride, and has great accelleration at high speeds for those long interstate rides. The maintenance history repairs include suspension work, besides brakes and tires, the car has minor work on cosmetics. It does need rear shocks, which are riding ok but making noises. The AC conditioning is the old R12 type and the compressor belt is missing. Door handles and window motors have been replaced as needed, that seems to be the issue with these older Jaguars. The car has 4 new Yokohama radial tires, it has new front fenders and the sides and hood have been repainted five years ago, due to some rust areas on the front fenders. That has been corrected by replacing fenders. The clear coat is worn off on the top and the trunk due to the car cover wearing on it. The car has passed the State inspection and has a sticker valid through February 2014. This is a rear wheel drive car, with a full size spare tire. It also has real steel bumpers front and rear. The gas mileage is consitently 21 city and 24 on the long highway runs. The car is 25 years old and is a reliable driver. The original sticker price was around $75,000 dollars in 1988, but today, its book value is between 3 and 7 thousand. The bid is starting low with a low reserve. The car is sold as is. It is up to the buyer to inspect before taking delivery. Winning bidder needs to leave a deposit and pick up the vehicle within 7 days. Deposit will be returned if seller views car and decides not to purchase before taking delivery. Shipping and taxes are the resposibility of the buyer.

This mule is the first evidence Jaguar is working on a 3 Series fighter
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Rumors of an entry-level, BMW 3 Series-fighting Jaguar sedan have been floating around for quite some time, but thanks to our intrepid spy photographers, we now have visible proof that such a model is, in fact, in the works.
Despite this tester's XF fittings, it's clear that what lies beneath is an entirely different beast. The doors have been shortened, roofline adjusted, rear deck lopped off and exhaust replaced, giving us a better idea of the new sedan's smaller dimensions and details. The new Jag, which may be dubbed "XS," is expected to ride on Jaguar's PLA (Premium Lightweight Architecture) platform, touting weight-saving materials that should do a lot to keep overall heft to a minimum. Both turbocharged four- and supercharged six-cylinder powertrains are expected to be on tap.
Codenamed X760, the new small sedan will reportedly hit the market in 2015. Earlier reports have indicated that a new crossover - Jag's first ever - riding on the same platform will arrive shortly thereafter, so that suggests that the platform will be fitted with all-wheel drive as well.
2015 Jaguar F-Type V6 S Coupe
Wed, 03 Sep 2014My first, ill-fated job in the auto world was at an exotic car dealer in metro Detroit. The job itself sucked, but the cars, they were exceptional. Amidst a sea of Tiptronic Porsche Boxsters, first-gen Mercedes-Benz SLKs and abused second-generation Range Rovers, there were some real gems.
In particular, I have fond memories of a trio of undrivable Jaguar E-Types. Two Series II coupes as well as a Series III convertible (that featured a mostly broken roof) spent the entirety of my brief tenure at the dealership in the back of the musty service garage. I'd make side trips through there just to see the trio of E-Types, which rarely failed to put a big, ridiculous grin on my face.
Since that time in the summer of 2005, there hasn't been a single Jag that's been capable of eliciting the same goofy smile. Not the XFR-S, with its un-aristocratic wing, nor the XKR-S. At the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, though, Jaguar introduced this F-Type Coupe. Sure, the droptop model had been around for a bit, but I thought it was the new coupe that most captured the E-Type's classic aesthetic, with a swooping roofline, those gorgeous rear haunches and a long, powerful hood. I had to drive one.
Watch this bad parker get what's coming to him
Fri, 02 Aug 2013If you're lucky enough to have a nice vehicle, do your fellow gearheads a favor and don't park like a clown. Seriously. Not only will you anger everyone who is trying to find a place to park, but your nice car is a billboard reinforcing the stereotype that car people are self-important and inconsiderate.
Take this gentleman for example. He has a Jaguar XK, and understandably wants to take care of it. Rather than parking it far, far away from any other cars and getting a bit of exercise by walking to his building, he takes up two spots (albeit barely) close to the structure. From the cameraman's narration, we can tell his coworkers are less than thrilled about his inability to stay between the lines.
Naturally, they wanted to teach him a lesson, so they parked a bigger vehicle as close to his driver's door as possible. Mr. XK's attempts to enter his vehicle are rather amusing, culminating in his climbing through the passenger side and scooching over to the driver's seat. While we can debate this sort of treatment all day long, it was effective. The video includes a follow up at the end showing where the XK driver parked the next day, and as you might guess, it wasn't in the same spot.
