For sale is my Series 1 Jaguar XJ12 that I have owned for just over two years.  It was purchased out of California in January 2011 with very low mileage of 17,601.  It was sold to me as a one owner car (and was sold from the owner's car collection).  Always garage kept, and current mileage is only 18,723 (as of March 2013).  Engine is strong and the car drives straight.  There is no known accident history (and no signs of any accident repairs).  It is in it's original paint (British Racing Green) which is in pretty good shape (as evidenced from the pictures I am supplying).  However, upon very close inspection, some very light hairline cracks can be seen in the paint on the roof if the light is just right.  The paint also has some pebble related chips behind the rear wheels.  In the past two years, all belts and coolant hoses have been replaced, and the carbs have been rebuilt, and the battery was replaced.  The A/C compressor has also been replaced, and the A/C system works good except that it is somewhat low on R12.  The radiator has also been rebuilt, and the thermostats replaced.  Valve cover gaskets have been replaced.  The pollution control air rails have been removed.  The power steering rack was recently rebuilt due to a leak.  I have also replaced one of the two fuel pumps.  I've also had the headliner redone.  The circuit board in the electronic ignition has been replaced with the REOPUS board (and it works great).  Spark plugs have also been replaced.  The tachometer sometimes sticks, and a light tapping will free it up.  The clock works intermittantly.  Tiares are in great shape.  I believe that this is probably one of the best examples of a Series 1 XJ12 in the country.  The car is currently garaged in Richmond, TX.

Jaguar envisions future without V8 engines

Wed, 21 Aug 2013

With tighter emissions and fuel economy regulations looming, Jaguar may have to do more than make a small, fuel-efficient hatchback to lower its model range's consumption figures - it also might give up its venerable V8 power, Drive reports. But not anytime soon, says Steven de Ploey, Jaguar's product and marketing director, who recognizes that the V8 can be replaced only by something that offers the same, or better, performance. But he has a word of caution: "We are not wedded to V8s."
In the meantime, de Ploey says there are other ways to reduce emissions. One of the first steps Jaguar could take is to shift away from the use of superchargers, which aren't as good as turbochargers at maintaining efficiency and making power. But he adds that supercharging still is "at the heart of Jaguar's performance proposition," and that the company has addressed the current downsizing trend by "replacing our naturally aspirated V8 with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6."
Consider one of de Ploey's comments on the cancelled C-X75 supercar (pictured) for some clue about Jaguar's future: "Some of the stuff we have already exploited to the extreme in the C-X75 is the kind of thinking for us and is an essential test bed to see how we could evolve from today to something that is sustainable in the future."

Jaguar Land Rover building new Special Vehicle Operations facility

Sun, 17 Aug 2014

It's only been a couple of months since Jaguar Land Rover announced the formation of its new Special Operations division, and we've already seen a number of vehicles to come out of it. But now the British automaker has announced a new facility that will house its elite skunkworks department.
Set to be built at Prologis Park in Ryton, England, on the outskirts of Coventry, the new Special Vehicle Operations Technical Centre will encompass dedicated production lines, F1-style flexible workshops, a dedicated paint studio and VIP suite for commissioning bespoke projects. JLR will spend some $33 million on the facility that will be home to 150 specialists - 100 of them being new hires.
The first project which the Special Operations division is working on is the F-Type Project 7, but we've already seen more projects in the pipeline - including the upcoming Range Rover Sport SVR - and you can bet there'll be more. The revival of the Lightweight E-Type also falls under Special Operations, but is undertaken by the Jaguar Heritage department located nearby at Browns Lane.

Jaguar confirms XE reveal for September 8

Tue, 15 Jul 2014

Jaguar has a whole raft of new products in the pipeline, from the long-awaited replacement for the XF mid-size sedan and a likely XJ-based replacement for the XK coupe and convertible to the production version of its C-X17 crossover concept. But arguably the most important will be the all-new XE, a compact sports sedan pointed squarely at the BMW 3 Series - a market segment which Jaguar last nipped at with the regrettable X-Type, one which it is now committed to tackling head on.
The British automaker has been trickling out a steady stream of details on its upcoming XE, from the initial announcement in March to the reveal of the disguised prototype in May and most recently the details released just last week of the new Ingenium engine family that will provide its motivation. Now Jaguar has confirmed the XE reveal timeframe and some more salient details of its chassis.
Set to be unveiled in London on September 8, the XE will reach European showrooms in 2015 and our shores in 2016. That's when buyers will be able to get their hands on what Jaguar is already characterizing as "a true driver's car; one that redefines the concept of the sports sedan."
