2001 Jaguar S-type Base Sedan 4-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
San Francisco, California, United States
This is a used car. Good condition, but it's in "gently used" condition for it's 97K+ miles. So, while it doesn't have that new car smell anymore, it's still a Jag and it's still very cool. You wanna tool down the boulevard at dusk and pull into the parking lot at Applebee's and get some head turns? This car will do that for you. Why? Because it's a Jag. It doesn't look like it's got as many miles as it does because it was well taken care of and garaged for the past ten years. It's got factory alloy 17" wheels with awesome fat tires that make it look fast even when it's standing still. For the price that I'm listing it at, you could buy a used Honda or a Toyota, but guess what? THEY AIN'T JAGS. THIS is a Jaguar. That's right – for the price of some used-up hunkashit Camry or Accord in some boring champagne color or white, you could drive a jet black car named after one of the most dangerous cats on earth. Life's short. Money's tight. Your house isn't worth what it was six years ago. You need a good used car to get to that new job you just landed and you want to make sure the A/C blows cold because you don't want to walk into your cube and be all sweaty from the drive. Plus, if you could turn some heads in the employee parking lot, that wouldn't suck, either. THIS IS YOUR NEXT CAR. Keep it waxed so the rain beads up and runs off that factory black paint. Keep some Armor All on the tires to match the paint. For the money you're saving, put a new stereo in it and keep the neighborhood on blast. Place a bid and you could be that guy or that girl who owns a Jaguar. Be the one they're talking about when they're all, "Who's that -- the one who just pulled up in the JAG?"

Jaguar's Callum refutes two XJ bodystyle rumor
Wed, 01 May 2013Not long ago, we relayed word from Edmunds that Jaguar was planning to split its next-generation XJ sedan into two bodystyles - one model that continued the ambitious design approach fostered with the current X351-based model, and another, more upright model to better appeal to China's conservative design sensibilities.
We expressed some cynicism in the idea, noting that such a strategy "might catch more profits for the marque, but it might also represent a setback to design head Ian Callum's vision for a thoroughly modern Jaguar portfolio." Callum has been quite insistent in his belief that Jag needs to be a forward-thinking brand in terms of design, and the two-model strategy seemed to conflict with that idea. We tried to get some comment from Callum at that time, but were unable to reach him.
As it turns out, our cynicism was well-placed. Autocar says that while the next XJ will continue to have two wheelbases, Callum has denied the two-model talk, saying flatly: "I can't see us doing two bodystyles. The cost would be enormous and the message inconsistent. You have to believe in what you produce and to do two bodystyles would undermine that."
Jaguar sends off XK with limited-run Final 50 edition
Fri, 18 Apr 2014The Jaguar XK coupe and convertible are pointed at the production sunset, and the cars that will end their retail lives in the US will be the dubbed the XK Final Fifty Limited Edition. As the name implies there will be fifty of them made, 25 of the fixed-roof variety, 25 of the droptop.
As the name doesn't imply, however, they'll be based on the XKR and be injected with liberal doses of XKR-S and XKR-S GT: the 510-horsepower V8 from the XKR will be mated to normally optional items like the Dynamic and Performance Packs, machined front suspension components from the XKR-S and a 10-millimeter lower ride height, the louvered hood from the XKR-S GT and Vortex 20-inch forged wheels. The sheetmetal gets a bath in Ultimate Black paint "with special trim" and badged door sill plates. Convertibles will come black roofs, but the Performance Active Exhaust will keep you apprised of the 5.0-liter V8 bellows no matter which car you choose.
They'll go into production this summer and hit dealerships in the fall. There's a lengthy press release below with more info on how this cat will sing its swan song.
2015 Jaguar F-Type V6 S Coupe
Wed, 03 Sep 2014My first, ill-fated job in the auto world was at an exotic car dealer in metro Detroit. The job itself sucked, but the cars, they were exceptional. Amidst a sea of Tiptronic Porsche Boxsters, first-gen Mercedes-Benz SLKs and abused second-generation Range Rovers, there were some real gems.
In particular, I have fond memories of a trio of undrivable Jaguar E-Types. Two Series II coupes as well as a Series III convertible (that featured a mostly broken roof) spent the entirety of my brief tenure at the dealership in the back of the musty service garage. I'd make side trips through there just to see the trio of E-Types, which rarely failed to put a big, ridiculous grin on my face.
Since that time in the summer of 2005, there hasn't been a single Jag that's been capable of eliciting the same goofy smile. Not the XFR-S, with its un-aristocratic wing, nor the XKR-S. At the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, though, Jaguar introduced this F-Type Coupe. Sure, the droptop model had been around for a bit, but I thought it was the new coupe that most captured the E-Type's classic aesthetic, with a swooping roofline, those gorgeous rear haunches and a long, powerful hood. I had to drive one.
