2000 Jaguar S-type 4.0l V8, New Engine. Nicest One Out There on 2040-cars
Seattle, Washington, United States
Cherry, pampered, Carnival Red, 1-owner, new engine 9K miles ago. As close to new as a 14-year-old car can be. Garaged at both ends of its commute, this Seattle car has never seen salt and barely seen sun; that's why the paint is still vibrant and shiny. The exterior has a half-dozen micro-flaws (tiny rock dings, one scratch; see close-up pics). The interior is like new save for a dime-size crack in the parking brake boot, a nickel-size scuff on the steering wheel, a quarter-size (tar?) stain in the driver's foot well, and slight scuffing on the driver's seat. This first-year S-Type had an engine with the nikasil cylinder liners. (For the uninitiated, search "Jaguar nikasil"). At 118K, the engine was done. Wife loved the car (it's her driver), so I had the original engine completely rebuilt to the tune of $14K (including labor); see the scanned paperwork. Now it's a year later and she wants a Jaguar XK. Oh well. (By the way, will trade with cash for a 2007-09 Jaguar XK, or 2000-03 Subaru WRX wagon, unless it's silver or gray.) Have all records from day one. All the failure-prone bits have already been replaced. Someone's going to get a beautiful great-driving car at a bargain price. The opening bid is the cost of the new engine. See more photos, including all service records, at plus.google.com/photos/101120692823414891191/albums/6004156821905765457 $500 due at auction's end. Any form of payment is OK, but I'll wait for any check (including cashier's checks) to clear the originating bank before releasing the car. This is the part of the auction text where there's usually a bunch of vaguely threatening language about your bid being a contract, and ask any questions before you bid, and stuff like that. Here's my deal: buying a car online is hard. I've bought and sold several over the years. If you're near Seattle, you're welcome to come drive this car and have it inspected by a mechanic. If you win this auction and for whatever reason do not like this car when you see it in person and drive it, then you can have your deposit back, no hassle, no negative feedback. The fault will be entirely mine for somehow failing to represent the car accurately. If you will be shipping the car, I'm home during the day and can assist your shipper. If you want to fly in and drive home, I can pick you up at the airport; I live about 10 miles from Sea-Tac. Any questions, don't hesitate. Bill |

Audi, Jag, Kia and Tesla top Strategic Vision 2014 Total Quality Index
Sun, 06 Jul 2014A couple weeks ago, J.D. Power released its latest Initial Quality Study, which gave high marks to Porsche, Hyundai and General Motors, with the latter earning more individual IQS awards than any other manufacturer. Now, it's Strategic Vision's turn, and it's doling out its praise not to Porsche, but to Tesla, which wasn't even included in the JD Power IQS.
The Model S was named the best vehicle overall in total quality, while Porsche's corporate brother and endurance-racing rival, Audi, was named the best premium brand, alongside Jaguar. Strategic Vision cited the Q5 and the ancient Q7 for individual segment awards, as well as the A5, which was a mere point off the top of its segment. SV also handed out compliments for the Audi's interior work. The win for the German brand is a nice improvement over its IQS score, with which it landed above the industry average, but solidly mid-pack.
Jaguar was without a segment winner, although SV did say that the Indian-owned English brand had a number of vehicles very near the top of their segments. This is the second significant win for Jag in two weeks, after it finished second overall on the JD Power IQS a few weeks ago.
Jaguar details new Ingenium four-cylinder engines [w/video]
Mon, 29 Sep 2014When Jaguar lifted the veil on its new XE sports sedan earlier this month, it only revealed details on one engine - that being the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 in the flagship XE S. But we already knew that the British automaker's new entry-level model will offer many other powertrain options, and now it has revealed a little more.
Jaguar has been developing a new family of 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines it calls Ingenium, which will be offered in a wide array of configurations and specifications. In advance of its debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, the Leaping Cat marque has announced the specifications of the two diesel versions. The first will offer 161 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque and some of the best environmental credentials on the market. There will also be a more potent version with 177 hp and 317 lb-ft, which Jaguar says is "one of the highest torque outputs in the class." Either way, both versions feature variable exhaust valve timing, cooled low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation and selective catalytic reduction technologies to help meet the stringent Euro 6 standards.
That's all well and fine, but considering that Jaguar doesn't offer diesels in North America, the chances of these oil-burners making their way Stateside seem slim. But if you watch the video below, you'll also find basic specs on their gasoline counterparts as well. Like the diesels, they're turbocharged and displace 2.0 liters, but in petrol form, they offer 197 hp and 206 lb-ft of torque, or 236 hp and 250 lb-ft.
Jaguar Land Rover details JustDrive connectivity suite
Tue, 18 Nov 2014
JustDrive will allegedly deliver on the long-promised idea of natural communication between driver and car.
Jaguar Land Rover's all-new InControl system is set to get a big bump as the British company will add a new service called JustDrive, which expands on the smartphone-focused infotainment system by adding a singular voice controller for a wide array of the system's currently available apps.
