Former Daily Driver. Good Restoration Candidate. All Matching Numbers. on 2040-cars
Naugatuck, Connecticut, United States
I have owned and garaged this auto since 1976 however; it hasn’t been driven as a daily driver for the past 10+ years. The car starts, drives, and runs well. Although tires and tubes are in good condition they are 30+ years old… so if you are the winning bidder, I would suggest shipping to your location. The interior is original with a few exceptions, Naugahyde covers dash and radio fascia. She has small dents, dings and off color paint in various places that the previous owner had repaired. Windshield is cracked on driver’s side. Repaired the driver side sill (rust underneath battery) but it’s not proper. I purchased the car with a dented passenger foot well and never replaced it. Engine, drive train, clutch, and brakes are in good condition. Complete brake job front and rear and new clutch in the early 80’s. There is damage to bonnet top (dents) and poor repair of cam hump, dent in passenger side front fender, old bondo repair behind gas cap. Mileage is approximately 64,000. Speedometer was repaired by Checkered Flag New Haven, CT and reset in 1977 with approximately 25,000 miles on car.
AS IS - NO WARRANTY Finally, I am not a used car emporium or dealer so this vehicle is being sold as is, with no warranty - express, written or implied. If you are the winning bidder you are responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any associated expenses. I assume no responsibility for damages incurred during loading of the vehicle by you or your shippers or damages incurred after the vehicle leaves my house. Full payment must be received before the vehicle is delivered to, or picked up by the winning bidder’s shipping company. Funds must be received and cleared before I will sign a bill of sale and title; a wire transfer or other cash equivalent is required for bids from outside the Continental United States. |

Chinese patent filing shows what could be next Royal Limo from Jaguar
Fri, 10 May 2013Someone filed a patent application in China for the Jaguar XJ limousine seen above, but no one's sure who filed it or what the car is for. One camp thinks it's a State limo for UK royals like the Bentley State Limousine, another camp thinks it's the work of aftermarket coachbuilders.
One thing's for sure: Assuming it ever gets made, anyone who buys it wants an XJ in name only; the modifications have removed almost all of the grace of the standard sedan. Estimated to be more than three feet longer than an XJ, the stretched rear doors are backed by an even more stretched rear section that, in losing the trademark XJ C-pillar (the D-pillar on this car), adds all sorts of ungainliness to its backside. What's more, the roof rises from front to rear, we can only assume to make room for people with large hats. Or the NBA player that the Chinese call "Sweet Melon."
Head over to AutoSohu for more photos from the application, if you're sure that's what you really want.
Jaguar crossover won't be based on Evoque or have off-road chops
Wed, 21 Aug 2013Jaguar's long-rumored crossover won't be built on the same platform as the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, says the Australian site Car Advice. The future of the new CUV remains uncertain, but if Jaguar does dip its toes into the SUV/crossover pool, though, the new vehicle will likely be a car-based soft roader, lacking (or perhaps more appropriately, not needing) the off-road-engineered chops inherent in Land Rover's small CUV platform.
Jaguar product planner Steven De Ploey explained to Car Advice, "There's many groups around the world [platform sharing] - obviously Volkswagen Group is doing it all the time - but I think we have to be careful. He added, "Jaguar is something quite different... It's about capability, but very much on-road focused capability." That seems to gel with our suspicions that the XQ, as it's expected to be called, will share its platform with an upcoming small Jaguar sedan, the oft-rumored X-Type successor.
Still, we'd recommend taking any mention of a Jaguar crossover with a grain of salt. Based on many of the (quite compelling) statements made by De Ploey against a Jag crossover and previous statements made by Jag's design boss, Ian Callum, the case against a leaper-bearing crossover seems strong. If a high-rider were to arrive from Jaguar, though, the article insinuates that it'd be more in line with the BMW X6 or upcoming X4 - sort of a coupe-based crossover. Like we said, grain of salt. If a Jag crossover is going to arrive soon, the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show is the most likely locale for its debut. We'll find out in a few weeks.
Jaguar readying SUV for Frankfurt debut
Thu, 01 Aug 2013In an effort to target higher-volume vehicle segments, Jaguar is getting ready to introduce its first-ever crossover, and Autoweek reports that we could see it debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. We've heard in the past that the new Jaguar crossover could carry the name XQ, but the report also mentions that the Q-type name is still in the running (now wouldn't Audi just love that?).
A little more clear than the crossover's name, AW says the cargo-friendly Jaguar should ride on the same platform as the upcoming Jaguar XS compact sedan rather than using a Land Rover platform. As for the on-sale date, it still sounds like the XS will hit the roads first in 2015 with the crossover model due out in 2016.
