You are currently viewing a 40,000-mile, highly original, two-owner, perfectly rustfree and accident-free CA car. It is in need of a new enthusiastic owner to return it to it's former glory. This car is a perfect entry-level Jaguar E-type that can be secured for very sensible money in this escalating European classic car market. Because of the car's excellent overall condition and it's associated parts, I believe that labor rather than expense would be needed to restore this car to a very high standard. This car was driven a believed minimal amount of mileage when a valve keeper let go and put a stop to the car's use. The car lived in the San Francisco Bay area at that time. The highly original and untouched car sat in storage for many years and was then purchased by a restorer who set about to perform a Concours level restoration. The car was very carefully and meticulously partially disassembled, with almost all components and parts being bagged, tagged, and boxed. Because of personal reasons, the restoration was never finished. This car is 100% COMPLETE in every sense of the word. The car was only moved once during it's disassembled state, and all parts and components were contained in about 12 large boxes. I WAS STUNNED at the condition of all the parts in general. So well-preserved. The car's interior was in exceptional condition, even ready to just clean and re-use, with a replacement of just a few items like the headliner and carpets. Some interior and exterior chrome parts are in factory new condition, some other pieces would clean up very nicely. The wheels and tires could even clean up well. The 5th wheel is the factory original Dunlop spare. All the glass parts are excellent. Every original item on the car was saved and may even clean up perfectly nice to be used again. This is definitely a car that has lived indoors all of it's life... The body, doors, bonnet, are all still in the original light blue factory paintwork. Some minimal body work has been performed, but the car is not far from being repainted! There is a small area around the RH headlight area with some small repairable damage. The rest of the body is near-perfect. The car is completely rustfree. The mechanical components look very good. The original assembled low-mileage short block looks excellent with no marks on the pistons and hardly a step on the cylinder bores. The IRS unit is totally complete and together with excellent rear splined hubs. It may just need a service and a good detail. The cylinder head has been disassembled and ready for a valve job. The front suspension, brakes, radiator, carbs and intake, transmission, steering rack, A/C components, etc. all look very nice and low-mileage. The car would need an exhaust system. This car also includes a brand new, correct, Navy Blue Wilton Wool carpet kit and a new, quality, full rubber sealing kit that appears to be for the entire car. Most likely a $1000 value combined... This Jaguar presents a very economical opportunity to own one of Britain's most iconic sportscars that has spent it's entire life here in sunny California. Because of it's excellent overall condition for a restoration car, recommissioning of it's components and re-assembly should be an easy, straightforward process. Jaguar XE promises to net 'over 75 mpg,' just not for us [w/video]
Tue, 29 Jul 2014With around a month away from its world debut on September 8, Jaguar continues to issue a constant drip of updates about its upcoming XE compact luxury sedan that's aiming to take on the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. Where the company's last bit of info focused on the car's suspension setup, this time Jag's putting the spotlight on the new model's modular platform and making some big promises about it, too. How big? Try over 75 miles per gallon big.
That's the headline figure that Jaguar is claiming for its new sedan, but it's keeping mum on just what powertrain will realize that figure. Furthermore, that result is on the European test cycle, which is more lenient than America's EPA testing regime. In any case, when the XE hits the road, Jag says it will be the most efficient vehicle from the company, ever.
That's thanks in no small part to the aluminum-intensive monocoque chassis underpinning the sedan. It's constructed from a new grade of the lightweight metal called RC 5754 that uses a high portion of recycled material. "The Jaguar XE body uses over 75-percent aluminum content, which far exceeds any other car in its class. This gives us a body structure with unrivaled low weight: it's light but also immensely strong with extremely high levels of torsional stiffness," said Dr. Mark White, Jaguar Chief Technical Specialist; Body Complete.
Jaguar C-X17 rides high into Frankfurt
Tue, 10 Sep 2013After enviously watching its competitors rake in piles of crossover-shaped dollars for years, Jaguar is poised to get into the game with a production model based on this C-X17 concept. While the British brand hasn't officially confirmed it will sell a utility vehicle - indeed, brand fans and industry watchers have wondered whether the Leaping Cat even need to get into the game considering its corporate cousins at Land Rover - we would be dumbfounded if it didn't happen in short order.
We've always been concerned that Jaguar's styling language wouldn't translate well to a high-riding shape, but here at its Frankfurt Motor Show debut, the C-X17 comes off as quite handsome (if predictable) in the metal. The same couldn't always be said of Jag's styling DNA, but newer models beginning with the XF and the XJ have introduced design elements like a larger, more vertical grille that suit the C-X17's form factor exceedingly well. Even the rear end successfully borrows its taillamp design from the glorious new F-Type Roadster.
Underneath the concept's two-box shape is a new aluminum unibody that Jag says it is poised to employ on its next-generation models, including the long-expected midsize sedan coming to North America in 2016. Jaguar has long been a leader in aluminum chassis development even as it has struggled to take weight out of some of its vehicles (the F-Type, for instance, isn't exactly lightweight). Thus far, Jaguar isn't talking powertrains other than to say it will employ a new generation of gas and diesel engines.

It's an emotional rush, a perception based on physical surroundings that influence the mind in much the same manner that a stein of pilsner tastes best when consumed in a German beer garden and no sand is softer than that found on a warm Caribbean beach. Jaguar has been assembling cars for nearly 100 years, and few automakers are as equally adept at capturing aristocracy and timelessness within the rich cabins of their luxury offerings.
Jaguar would have no concern if it were the only game in town, but that's far from the truth. The premium full-size luxury segment, which includes vehicles hovering just under or at the six-figure mark, is a contentious grouping that includes the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, Lexus LS, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Porsche Panamera. Each of those brings its own game to the battle, and none are easy to dismiss.
To better understand the British perspective and evaluate its latest offering on a land without royalty, I recently spent a week with a long-wheelbase, all-wheel-drive Jaguar XJ in Southern California.
