       Desirable 1967 E type Coupe.

This is a somewhat familiar story. Car had a refurbishment started, client sadly became ill, years passed, car was never finished. I bought the car from the fellow who bought it from the restoration shop who had ended up buying the car from the client.

Lot of the hard work is done but the car is a good ways from finished. It appears this was a decent driver level car when started. At some point it had been repainted and had had minor body work performed previously. The nose was lightly hit and repaired, but it was an amateur job. It still needs some tweaking. A little bit of mud was used in font and behind the rear wheel  on the lips. At this time it looks to have had the floors relatively recently replaced and some metal work on the driver's inner rocker/footwell area. It still needs the passenger area addressed. Over all the body is pretty clean. It appears most of the rust was from the carpet holding moisture from water intrusion. Exception being the passenger door lower skin needs replaced.

The refurbishment looks to have mostly been done under the bonnet. The engine was rebuilt (Cyrille Leseller). New radiator. Some of the front suspension rebuilt. Front brakes refurbished (hoses ,pads, hardware, calipers, master cylinder), General tidying up and painting of the frame, etc. I wouldn't call it a concourse finish but overall nice looking.

This is a numbers matching engine. It has not been fired. Fuel supply system is not yet restored or hooked up.

        The rear suspension is untouched.

Chrome wire wheels in decent condition. With a serious meticulous cleaning they'd be quite nice. Tires look like unused Michelin Xs, but I'm sure they have been mounted for a good while.

The interior is untouched, needing to probably be replaced if a general restoration is carried out. Some have said that they'd just clean it up, put in carpet and go with it. Your choice. Dash is intact, not split, gauges appear pretty clean. Everything is there and probably original.

Chrome is probably all original (bumpers look newer or perhaps replated at some point) and shows it's age. Light pitting is present. A few folks said they'd just do the minimum body work and paint, buff the car out and live with that. Just make a driver out of it. Your choice. I don't see evidence of any serious previous damage, just the light bump to the nose.

Windshield has one star on the passenger side, rear glass is cracked but a replacement is included, other glass is good. Windows crank up and down fine.

Spare wheel is present, no rust in the wheel well (well, some surface rust perhaps).

To summarize: a very desirable year, good bones to work with, a lot of the heavy lifting is done, nice project to finish as you like. You've probably noticed, series one Jags are getting pretty dear. Here's your shot at a mighty nice project car.

Thanks for looking!  Personal inspection welcome.

Jaguar demanding customer data from reluctant dealers

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

Nearly every major business is collecting consumer data these days, and keeping that data secure has come to the forefront of many customer's minds. Jaguar Land Rover North America's decision to begin requesting more customer info from its dealer network appears unfortunately timed, however. If it had come a few years ago, it might have been ignored, but in today's climate of heightened awareness, a few dealers are pushing back. To put the showrooms in an even tougher position, JLR NA is threatening to deny quarterly incentives if they do not turn over the customer data, according to Automotive News.
JLR NA instated the nationwide plan, which it calls Single View CRM, on February 7, but according to Stuart Schorr, Jaguar Land Rover North America Vice President of Communications, the automaker has been negotiating with its dealers to institute the new program for over a year. Schorr tells Autoblog that no financial information is being shared, noting that such data is limited to customer details, including things like what vehicles they own and whether they have any pending service. The initiative is meant to "improve customers' and owners' engagement with the brand," he said. Also, the company is not accessing dealer data itself; instead showrooms are asked to enter the info into JLR's database.

Chris Harris finds the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe rather drifty

Wed, 26 Mar 2014

Our own Matt Davis may have called the new Jaguar F-Type R Coupe "one heady rascal," but our review was disappointingly short on drifting, tire smoke and general, English shenanigans. You know, the sort of things that Chris Harris from Drive excels at.
Actually, relative to Harris' other reviews, this one is rather serious. There's a good recap of the F-Type on the road, with Harris referencing the car's "great bottom" and "amazing ass," quite frequently. Surprisingly, Harris says the more powerful F-Type R is just "incrementally" faster than the 495-horsepower F-Type V8 S Convertible. Following the on-road portion, it's off to the track. You can probably predict what goes on there. Overall, aside from some quibbles, Harris has nothing but praise for the newest cat.

Weekly Recap: Things you might not know about the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcats

Sat, 16 Aug 2014

If you're an enthusiast, and you don't know that Dodge spawned another Hellcat this week, you really must have been living in cave. The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is probably the biggest news for enthusiasts since the reveal of, well the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
But, there are some things you might not know or might have missed about the new Charger and Challenger Hellcats. For starters, reports that the Hellcat production would be limited to a low volume are not true.
"We have not capped the Hellcat on either the Challenger or the Charger," Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said.
