For your consideration an outstanding example of a 1964 Jaguar E Type Series I Fixed Head Coupe vintage racer. The car was found in a So. Cal.  in need of a lot of TLC since leaving the hands of the original master race car builder. The Coupe was brought to my shop to be restored to its glory days keeping as much of its racing originality intact. The entire car was originally built with the best racing components available to perform at a sports car GT2  racing level… the engine:  3.8 liter(original block) with a later model E Type  4.2 ltr head, with full race porting, racing cams and lifter buckets. Upon inspection it was found to show very low hours if not a recent rebuild. Cross hatch still showing on cylinder walls, pistons shiny new in appearance (10.5/1 Compression ratio), rods (H beam) clean with no oil residue, a lightened Crank and a High capacity oil pump. (See photo) An automatic, 12V engine Pre-oiler was installed to protect cold start-ups. Upon flipping the ignition toggle, 1.5 qts of pressurized oil are fed to the crank and valve train before fire up! The top end checked out just as sweet. So back together it went after a thorough cleaning and detail. The 48mm Weber carbs were rebuilt, tuned, and synched. Weber velocity stack air cleaners were installed to protect engine during run in. The wide blade clutch and pressure plate were rebuilt to exact race standards. Custom header exhaust system was fabricated, and new gear reduction starter was installed, replacing the old school starter which were never up to the task of turning over a high compression engine. The engine jumps to attention just touching the starter button. The Chassis was taken to the tub, cleaned/stripped, fresh paint, detailed and assembled with all new OEM Jaguar hardware/fasteners. New lower ball joints, tie rod ends and a new adjustable torsion bar system were installed. The brake system was rebuilt with OEM Jaguar kits  (later model Jag XJS 4 piston calipers with race pads- the hot ticket back in the day) A new electrical harness was made, relocating the MSD adjustable timing ignition components to the cockpit. An automatic engine hour meter was installed and currently shows 45 minutes. Any item, front to rear, found to be marginal, was rebuilt or replaced. Not only is this one of the cleanest E Type Series I racers available in the World, it is also priced less than the build cost, and has an unheard of clean/clear California title. Don't wait on this one!!!For the full story or any questions call or text Steve @ 775 343-2592

Is Jaguar's 3 Series-fighter the brand's last chance?

Wed, 16 Oct 2013

The upcoming line of compact 3 Series-fighters from Jaguar, often referred to as the Jaguar XS, could consist of a sedan, wagon and possibly a coupe and GT model (think BMW 5 Series GT). The car's all-aluminum architecture also will provide the basis for two new sports utility vehicles. Just how important is the much-touted "baby Jag" project to parent company Jaguar Land Rover? A JLR executive reportedly says the brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS, codenamed X760, Autocar reports.
The brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS.
"If the X760 fails, it will probably be the end for the [Jaguar] brand," the executive says. But Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, claims Jaguar will "build the most advanced, most efficient, most refined car in that [compact luxury sedan] segment. Not almost as good as, but better than the best in the world."

Jaguar C-X75 production run canceled

Tue, 11 Dec 2012

"We feel we could make the car work, but looking at the global austerity measures in place now, it seems the wrong time to launch an 800,000-pound to 1 million-pound supercar."
Those words are from Jaguar Global Brand Director Adrian Hallmark, and as true as they may be, it still stings a little bit. After all, we've been looking forward to the Jaguar C-X75 ever since word came from Jolly Olde that it was green-lit for a short production run.
Some of the cool bits and pieces the world will now be without: a powerful but relatively miserly 1.6-liter turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine, two electric motors driving all four wheels and a carbon fiber chassis developed by Williams F1. Sigh.

Jaguar lets first outsiders drive new F-Type

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

What do you do when you're an automaker with an all-new and brand-defining sports car, one of them with a supercharged V8 cranking out 495 horsepower? You let proven race drivers test them out on track and on the road.
And what do you do if you're Jaguar and you're in that situation? Why, naturally, you make a video of it. That's how we get footage of racers Martin Brundle, Justin Bell and Christian Danner being choppered into the UK's Snetterton track to test the V6-equipped Jaguar F-Type S prototype. Then when they're finished with kerb-lined apexes, they take the V8 S prototype out onto the roads to run it through hedge-lined apexes.
According to one of them, "very fast, very nimble, great engine" is what will soon be headed our way. Check it out in the video below.
