This is a beautiful, FAST car equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode, four-wheel independent multi-link suspension, Vehicle Dynamic Control anti-skid technology, and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes with ABS, Brake Assist, and Electronic Brake force Distribution.

This car rides on Nissan's 350Z sports car platform and Infiniti FX45 crossover utility. This platform was specifically designed for mounting a V6 longitudinally behind the front axle in the so-called front mid-ship position. (Front-wheel-drive sedans mount their engines sideways, in front of the front axle.) Moving the engine rearward improves the balance of the G35, a key to its excellent handling.

Car features a 120-watt, 6-speaker Bose audio system with in-disc 6-disc changer, satellite radio and cassette, 8-way power driver's seat with adjustable lumbar support, 4-way manual passenger's seat, sunroof, power mirrors, cruise control, front and rear window defroster, outside temperature and compass readouts, leather-wrapped steering wheel, analog clock; leather upholstery, unique 17-inch alloy wheels with P215/55VR17 tires, tilt/telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, dual-illuminated visor vanity mirrors, front and side airbags, 3 front seat electric sockets and many front of car storage areas.

Infiniti gets boiled down to four P's: Performance, passion, precision, provocation

Tue, 18 Jun 2013

So then we asked, "Well, what does that mean?"
We met Andreas Sigl, the global director of Infiniti's Formula One involvement (that's him above on the right), at the US Grand Prix in Austin last year, and our questions to him were aimed at understanding what Infiniti was doing and where it intended to go. In spite of regard for its products and increased sales, few outside - and even inside - Infiniti seemed to have a clear idea of what the brand stood for.

Infiniti expanding lineup by 60% over next five years

Tue, 19 Aug 2014

Johan de Nysschen had only been at the helm of Infiniti for two years when he left for a position atop Cadillac. But in that time, he indeed left his mark on the brand. Most visibly, there was the drastic Q-ification of the company's vehicle naming strategy, but beyond that were big plans to beef up the Infiniti brand with the goal of making it a fully competitive luxury automaker.
Autoblog spoke with Michael Bartsch, vice president of Infiniti Americas, during Monterey Car Week, and he confirms Infiniti's brand direction is "still exactly as Johan presented it." Over the next five years, the company's portfolio will expand by 60 percent, and that will be aided with additional engine and transmission plants, most notably the recent collaboration with Daimler to build 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines.
Infiniti's lineup will grow to include eight sedans/coupes and five crossovers/SUVs.

Autoblog's Matt Davis named Infiniti global product and brand communications director

Tue, 03 Jun 2014

The door that separates automotive journalism and automaker PR swings both ways, and swings often as we see journalists move over to PR and vice versa. This time, however, it's one of ours.
That would be Matt Davis, longtime European correspondent for Autoblog and frequent contributor to numerous other publications including AutoWeek, Edmunds and Esquire. He was co-founder and longtime chairman of the World Car of the Year Awards, and serves on the jury for the International Engine of the Year awards as well. Matt has resided in Milan since 2001, writing for publications around the world in a number of languages, but will now be moving to Hong Kong.
That's where he will be taking up his new position as Global Director of Production and Brand Communications for Infiniti, which relocated its global headquarters to Hong Kong from Japan more than two years ago. In his new capacity, which he officially assumes on July 14, Davis will report directly to Infiniti's general manager of communications Stefan Weinmann.
